In this video, we will cover how to choose a trading platform, how much money you need to get started investing in dividends, and deciding what to invest in. I cover choosing between single companies and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and how to build your dividend portfolio over time.
Once you start building your portfolio you need to understand the importance of time as that is where the magic of compound interest will start to take place and help build your portfolio.
I’ll also talk about structuring your dividend portfolio so that you can try and get money coming in every single month. This is harder to do in Australia (where most companies only pay twice per year), but it can be done if you’re willing to sacrifice some companies for others based on which months they pay in.
Finally, I will discuss how much money you need in your dividend portfolio if you want to live off the dividends entirely.
This is a good beginner guide to getting started in dividend investing, but even more seasoned investors will hopefully find some useful information here as well.
