There was this Indian movie that came out in 2009 called Magadheera and it had a flashback act for the main characters past life where he gets trapped in quicksand, deep enough to pull an entire chariot down. That's what caused my fear of quicksand. I didn't know that quicksand wasn't going to be everywhere and be of massive problem in my life
Fun fact, I have seen a cow get stuck in quick sand in a rural area. The farmers tried to pull it out with a tractor but it was so stuck it letterly ripped the cow in half. I would never forget the groans and moans coming out of that animal just before it was torn in half. Yes you can't pull anything from that sand.
Fun fact: even if quicksand is infinitely deep, you can only sink to the point where both your submerged half and not submerged half are equal weight-wise
Surviving quicksand involves remaining calm and following these steps: 1. **Don't Panic:** Panicking can cause you to sink faster. Stay calm and assess the situation. 2. **Keep Still:** Movement can cause you to sink further. Try to spread your weight evenly and avoid struggling. 3. **Slowly Free Yourself:** If you can, gently try to remove one limb at a time from the quicksand. Slow, deliberate movements can help you gradually get free. 4. **Lay Back:** If you can't get out, lay back to increase your surface area and float. This can help you stay above the quicksand until help arrives. 5. **Call for Help:** If someone else is with you, call for help immediately. If alone, try to attract attention by shouting or using any available means. Remember, while quicksand can be dangerous, most cases don't result in fatalities as long as you remain calm and take appropriate action.
When I was younger, I thought quicksand would be a much issue when I grew up. I saw a comment like this on another video I saw in the past, and it was so true. Edit: capitalized a lowercase "I."
Oh yes it can. If you find yourself in bottomless tidal mud, it can actually be worse than true quicksand. It’s very thick, and viscous. If you panic and struggle, the suction will easily overcome your buoyancy point. You’ll sink until the mud is cocooned around your face and you can’t move anymore. Any more struggle, and you’ll be sucked right down.
New Jersey actually has deadly quick sand due to the way it sits. The water table is high enough that you you drown. It's rare and only in the areas with boggs where the sand can sit on top of it.
Actually, quicksand can’t kill you. It’s usually just the lack of food that kills people and if you do fall in it, the sand would make you so buoyant you can’t sink.
*Have you guys notice this?* When the blue guy is sinking, you can see the cursor is trying to pull our poor guy out by pulling his deformed head, a really great detail that the cursor is its own sentient being
-"What would happen if you were to fall into quick sand?“ -"Well, if I didn't have anyone to help me, it would be a tad bit challenging..." -"But would you escape?" -"Nah, I'd sink"
