When playing TLOU with headphones I absolutely shit my pants in every scene with clickers, so I would definitely not survive in this world lol But just the beautiful overgrown buildings alone would make it worth it
It’s not the bacteria of a corpse that causes you to die in 48 hours, in season 5 Rick gets a whole load of walker blood in his mouth doesn’t get sick, and I think it was season 8 Gabriel got walker blood in a cut eye and it only got an infection, but it didn’t kill him. Firstly, people aren’t necessarily just infected in the show, there simply just a carrier of a dormant version of the virus and that only becomes active once the brain dies so it can reboot it as a zombie brain. One of the the best theories I’ve seen is there is an active variant of the virus that’s only spread through bone and collagen that when bitten it won’t stay dormant waiting for you die it will actively begin the walker transformation while the host is alive till it kills them it’s self and then reboots the brain. Simply put from what I’ve seen theorized is the airborne version of the wildfire is dormant waiting for you to die to become active, whilst an already turned individual will spread an already active and non dormant version of the virus into your blood that will actively kill a person till it can reboot the brain. But that is just a theory I’ve seen I don’t think it’s set lore. However that’s what I choose to believe while watching the show so it can make a bit more sense. Also great video👍 I subscribed can’t wait to see your next video on twd
This is so interesting!! I posted on tiktok, too and people brought up the bone theory!! The dormant vs active wildfire virus would be consistent, so I like that explanation. I think that SHOULD be what's happening, that its dormant and the infection that the walkers are spreading is active and then kills you because they have the active virus. That would make sense to me. In the research for this, I read an article where RK had said it was the bacteria from the corpse's mouth, but there are so many different theories now I can't tell up from down. But this^ is good.
@@GracieTalksAboutThings There is the possibility that RK was talking about the comic lore, the wildfire virus works slightly different between the comics and TV show, because in the comics it’s a zombie virus from an asteroid that came from space, completely different from the shows explanation, so the zombies in the comics are carrying around some alien bacteria
I'M SORRY I SAID I WASN'T PROUD. this is my first ship to come to light now that I will be discussing ships and I was like OOOF that's a tough one to start with. lol in the show it was breadcrumbs, on AO3, it was a full thing hahaha
congrats on getting married! also, I would definitely pick the grimy, treacherous, post-zombie apocalypse world that has better vibes + pedro pascal cuz I'm in the "here for a good time, not a long time" camp
Another few things that happened recently in the TWDU is using dead corn to make gas out of (main show season 9) which could actually happen. In fear the walking dead, they found multiple oil fields and started working on turning it to gas for their convoy. And finally, the Croat in dead city is making his own fuel by using the corpses of walkers to make Ethanol (that’s the simplified version lol). I’m glad they actually addressed that through the shows recently.
for the overall death rate there is also just the fact that TLOU has only one season (or two games), while TWD has gone on for SO MUCH LONGER, so they've just overall had more named characters to kill, which would bring the number up. Should they be equal in terms of content length, TLOU would definitely pull ahead in terms of # of kills
yes, the overall death rate on this was just cooked from the beginning. good point on this! I guess I thought going named dead characters as % of total characters still kind of puts them on an even playing field because both dead characters and total named characters would be higher with walking dead, so it's ran for much longer, meaning the total characters number would also be way higher if that makes sense, but again this is NOT a metric I would stand by for this video
@@GracieTalksAboutThings oh absolutely, theres no real way to fairly judge the amount of death simply due to the difference in time running. I suppose the best way to guess is to either average out how many people die per episode in just the first season of TWD, or if you want similar states then later on in the series when they're further into the infection like what we get for most of TLOU?
@@FireBorne102 I think it's hard to get precise estimates but TLOU is higher without a shadow of a doubt. Runners, Stalkers, Clickers, Bloaters, vs WALKING decaying corpses. I'd also count spores seeing as that's how fungi can actually exist on a biological level. I really enjoyed the show though, more realistic in regards to trauma, but man I still wish I saw Pedro in gas mask that would've been absolutely perfect.
Congratulations on your marriage. Now as someone who came back to TWD in early 2023 to finish seasons 8-11, I can say you got a lot of this correct. I've already seen a comment on them making their own fuel. Yes, Eugene (the guy who was traveling with Abraham and Rosita in season 4) he taught them how to make Ethanol. So actually their vehicles run on corn fuel. Infact most of TWDU runs on the stuff. In Fear (a TWD spin off) they find a oil refinery in TX so they can actually make tons of fuel. You just gotta know how. You also got that Radiation from Fear, sadly the effects quit working after a while or not enough treatments as a young boy (actually related to cast members from season 7&8 of the main show) he succumbs to his bite late in season 8. Chlorine Gas has been used by the organization known as the CRM "Civic Republic Military" they are honestly like TWDs FEDRA. They are a remnant of the USA Military and their ways are completely totalitarian. You actually find put about them more in Fear (Season 6&7) World Beyond 🤢(even as a TWD fan it was hard to get through) and the newest Spin off about Rick And Michonne (my OTP btw they got together in season 6, right after you stopped watching) you find out about how the CRM operates. What they think of humanity as a whole, and our chances for continuing as a species. Pretty bleak in their opinion. Also Idk if you've rewatched any TWD when making this, but in season 1 episode 6 perfectly named, Wildfire. You find out from Dr. Edwin Jenner (last survivor of the CDC) that Wildfire invades the brain like meningitis. It caused vital organs to fail and thus kills you til the stem of your brain reanimates, just none of the frontal cortexes. Which explains why walkers have no memories of their past life. All of it, that was you. Is gone. Tbh, Idk id you really care but if you have any questions feel free to ask. I've seen ALL of TWDU shows now. Fully back in my obsessive mode with this series and faithfully awaiting Daryl Dixon season 2 as well as Dead City S2 as for TLOU, its game only for me other than episode 3. That I'm glad was awarded properly even if the Emmy's can get bit for never nominating Andrew Lincoln for his amazing portrayal as Rick Grimes.
this is AMAZING. I don't think people understand that my goal is always to get literally every detail right haha. I think people think I'm ruining the fun of the show, but my goal is always to honor the source material and the people who care (myself included) so I love all of this. Is the Daryl Dixon show good??? He was one of my favorite characters and doing this video definitely reopened my interest in the show. Also I'm happy for you that you shipped Richonne, seems like the Richonne shippers really won the most in that show hahaha.
When a doctor shocks someone back to life, you come back from the dead. I imagine the wildfire victims are still inside, consciousness trapped without memory or personality. Also it's a tad bit more (not much) above the brain stem reanimated too, specifically the lateral geniculate nucleus, visual cortex, and the optic chiasma, all of which connects to optic nerves. This is why the walking corpses aren't blind.
Congrats on getting married! Also, I think I've fallen in love with your channel. Keep up the great work and your channel is going to soar. I'm about to binge your whole channel while playing Minecraft
The infected in the last of us are still conscious but they cant control their actions you can hear an infected woman crying and vomiting while shoving human flesh down her throat
You see for me it comes down to this. Would I survive the initial infection? In Walking Dead, the world ended fast. I was 14 in 2010, high school age so I definitely would have known what was going on because of the internet, but that can only carry you so far. You gotta think about where you are. If you are in a big city like LA or Atlanta, guess what? You’re getting napalmed, no questions asked. NYC is a hellhole, 8 million people lived there in 2010. Guess what? Now you have 8 million walkers! And all the bridges were destroyed. If you are in Manhattan you better pray you don’t die and avoid the streets. (Also those images of One World Trade Center being unfinished hurt to see. It was never finished in the Walking Dead Universe and it was haunting to see it in Dead City) Let’s say you live through Operation Cobalt and the Sunset Protocol, now your city is on fire, there are walkers all over the place and you got no supplies. The initial start is going to be the worst point in human history, because it’ll be the bloodiest. Can’t trust the Army, look what happened in Texas, they were slaughtering people and letting them turn. Mexico isn’t in any better shape and we don’t know how Canada handled it but considering we have no Canadians in the show, I assume not good. If you manage to make it those initial 3 months, you are likely gonna live longer. As long as you avoid being killed by Walkers, which is easy given how slow they are, your chances to live skyrocket. You might wanna lone wolf it, but that can only carry you so far. You also gotta ask yourself, are you in America? Or somewhere else? I feel bad for the French because of all the variants. Yes they don’t have Operation Cobalt but they have Acid Walkers running around so that’s fun. Living on a boat might be the best option in this world at least for awhile. But yes, those are my personal concerns. While I am confident I would be okay when shit hit the fan, I doubt I’ll make it beyond the initial stages of the fall of society. If I do make it, well, then that’s lucky haha. I wouldn’t live in Last of Us, I would probably get infected because I forgot to change the filters on my mask lol Good video! And congrats on the marriage! Also lemme guess, you shipped Rick and Beth because of that one cheek kiss she gave him one time lol.
This is AMAZING thank you for discussing, for deep diving with me, and the color here is fantastic, although everything here sounds like a direct threat hahahaha. This is so true. I’m delusional for thinking I’d survive but like you gotta think big. I’d be in a small town in 2010 in the south, so I’m not worried about outbreak day, but yeah the cities are haunting. Hahaha IT WASN’T JUST THE FOREHEAD KISS. Andrew Lincoln had said he threw it out as a plot idea to the writers (that Beth would be into him and Rick would be awkward about it - not that they would actually be together) and then yes the forehead kiss played a role. Blame AO3 honestly.
Generally they would cover sheets or something with the blood. But In FTWD Nick always covered his whole body in blood and ate Walker brain to get high.
@@GracieTalksAboutThings yeah, a main character in Fear the Walking Dead ate the nucleus of the brain stem of freshly turned walkers bc it’s pure adrenaline so he would get high instantly. It was odd and gross
I remember someone who's way smarter than me state that since the virus is dormant in humans but active in wakers, any bite/scratch or whatever received by them, causes two to have a reaction ( can't remeber that name of said reaction) but that basically is what kills the person + that nasty ass infection you'll be getting from a dead rotting person's bite. This isnt canon it was just a discussion vid that this guy posted (also can't remeber who it was lol) but made sense to me lol.
That is so cool!! I had read the wildfire virus (which would be in everyone) did something that speeds up the the bacteria infecting you in terms of killing people quickly. I consulted a doctor who said if it was like toxic shock syndrome, it could in theory move very quickly. But I just looked up cytokine cascade and I think that's so cool, that's gotta be it
@@GracieTalksAboutThings Macrophages are part of immune response, they surround and kill microorganisms, and remove your dead cells. Like Tuberculosis, the virus could be replicating inside of the macrophages and inhibiting their functionality via altering DNA, ultimately bursting the immune cell via self-replication, resulting in other macrophages coming to clean up, and subsequently the virus would infect those macrophages, then bursting, continuing until macrophages are systemically defeated. Or / (and possibly a combination of both) the virus infects B cells, explaining why no cure or vaccine was made within a reasonable timeline (reasonable for dead people eating people). Also is the death rate just for the zombie threat? I'm going to assume it is because people have been born into a world where all of their needs are already met, I seriously believe that 80% of humanity couldn't survive a grid collapse. Finding shelter, and making yourself warm, purifying water, foraging food, learning basic medical care, not to mention lack of antibiotics, these are all problems not many individuals in modern society are prepared to handle. Even prepers run out of their stock piles eventually given enough time. Unless FEDRA stepped in to manufacture new bullets and pills, and to provide a safe zone. Still a majority of earth would be an uninhabitable and lawless wasteland.
Hahaha Lori and Rick were married, sure, but it was still a love triangle, what’s going on situation to me at least and I wanted way more content of them two being happy
Hey Gracie! Haven’t watched the entire video to avoid spoilers of the walking dead, but I can tell you put a lot of effort into your content, if you need help with thumbnails or branding, let me know, it’s what I do!
Hey, great video. I highly recommend you finish Walking Dead. It definitely goes down in quality after Season 6, but Seasons 9-11 are actually really good. The Spin-offs are hit or miss but I do think the main show is worth finishing! Alternatively, if you’re really feeling the franchise’s I would recommend you read the TWD comics and play the TLOU games. Both have much more depth and are a lot darker and more realistic.
I'll check it out!! There were deaths in there (don't want to say too many spoilers I guess even though this whole vid is a spoiler) that made me want to stop just because I was like well I don't have my favorite characters I was watching for but I always loved Rick, so I'll check it out
Hell I can’t wait for people to see season 2 and 3 of the last of us from the games but the last of us is definitely more dangerous and i think TWD show the only one can live a TLOU would from TWD is Daryl who else could live in TLOU world
On my god this is so true. I fully pick the walking dead to live in because the last of us universe is so crazy and aggressive. But Daryl could for real survive it.
I read so many different things, it's so hard to know, I'm thinking it's like a bacteria infection from the corpses that the wildfire virus (underlying zombie virus that everyone already has) helps speed up??? but yeah lots of theories!!
Tbh I don’t like this video simply because of the fact that you haven’t finished the walking dead nor have you watched Twd Daryl Dixon spin off, Twd has added variant Walkers to the show, they can run, kill other zombies etc , if we’re only going off of the first few seasons then I guess so can understand but it doesn’t make sense when we’re discussing if we can survive twd universe as a whole , when your missing out key elements
I'm sorry it didn't cover everything! It's hard because when I do these videos, I do really want to honor the source material, but I always give warnings that it's impossible to consume everything about a piece of media for a 15-20 min video, and I did really love the show when I watched it, so I wanted to talk about it! I'll research the variant walkers for any other videos going forward! Thanks for bringing up.
@@GracieTalksAboutThings yeah i always understood it as being 2 different strains of the virus. One is airborn, and the other is spread through bites. The airborn one only takes effect apon death, but the bite one acts as an infection and causes fever, chills, sweating, etc. Then you die, and you come back. Either from the airborn virus, or the bite, we dont know.
