I perfectly understood his explanation of 'What' it does however there was no explanantion of 'How' it does it. Most people know what a car does but very few understand 'How' an engine works of 'How' the fuel injection works.

The way it basically works is that the phone/tablet pushes a link to the chromecast, and the chromecast then does the rest. The chromecast needs to be connected to an internet source.

@@foxcatcher3864 when you're sharing the phones cell service, it does it over wifi to the other device, effectively running your phone into a modem and router. But no cell service has true unlimited data, there's always a cap and throttle.

@@foxcatcher3864 you can connect chrome cast to your phone hotslot if you don't have WiFi If you have WiFi at the house connect it to that and you can enable guest mode on Google chrome cast and you can cast to. It if you not on the network eg on data just put in pin it would say on screen to. Phone and it will connect

No, all you need is a USB and an HDMI port. You use your smart device to control the chromecast :) The chromecast is basically a cheaper option for people who don't have a smart TV.

Aztec Arts yeah you gonna need both. The HDMI transfers video and audio, while the USB powers the Chromecast. Most HDTVs have at least one USB, you can still power it with basically anything else as long as It has a USB port. Personally I think this is better than other streaming boxes, because they will usually require power straight from the wall.

Yeah, I used to be able to screen mirror straight from my Samsung Note 8 directly to my Samsung 60" smart tv without chromecast, wifi, or internet. Google Play movies won't let me do that anymore. It's kinda fucked up. They "fixed" something that wasn't broken.

Yeah, but if battery drains that easy, you might need a better phone. The video will only play on the TV while streaming, but the signal still comes from your phone.

Most apps just do a "handshake" so you can send the video to your Chromecast, and it will ay through

Yeah you can. Open chrome browser in your laptop and click on the three-dotted button on the top right corner and select Cast. Then you can select to either cast the tab you have opened or cast your desktop.

I used to mirror my Samsung phone to my Samsung tv, but yesterday it asked to use Chromecast 🙄 (ever since I updated my phone)

@@MsKROD19 same here. I'm a little pissed about it. I was buying and downloading Google Play movies and to shows to watch on my tv in the camper or semi-truck where there is no wifi or internet signal. Now it wants me to stream via chromecast. Netflix and Amazon Prime will still screen mirror, but not Google Play. I did call Google and they told me I can work around by playing my purchased content through RU-vid, but I dont think its playing my downloaded videos. Due to the video quality, I think it's just streaming online. I'm guessing I'll just throw that middle finger up to Google Play and start buying my content on Amazon Prime Video from now on. I dont think they had any right to restrict my ability to view the content I already purchased. It's mine, I bought it, I own it.
