@@geraispadilla213honestly the only purpose I see for full auto is for fun at a range. I’ll hit more of my intended targets with semi auto than wasting ammunition with auto. Even if it has auto functionality I’d stick to semi in an emergency.

@@elliotalderson2479 I agree…. If you want to go nuts at the range, you can always bump fire a semi automatic rifle anyway or if you want a little bit more control, you can always get yourself a binary trigger since bump stalks and now even rubber pistol braces intended for disabled vets for better control have been made illegal by our ATF tzar … it’s funny how the US government can leave billions of dollars of fully automatic weapons to the Taliban but take away every gun right for us responsible law abiding citizen gun owners… what’s good for the goose is good for the gander they should make law enforcement, the FBI, the ATF, the CIA all stick to the same gun laws but no they have to have full auto everything… what an absurdity. #REPEAL THE NFA DEFUND AND DISMANTLE THE ATF …. If this was still America, ATF would be the name of the convenience store not an oppressive overfunded federal agency with nothing better to do than make more draconian laws to oppress their own citizens to keep the left happy.

After watching TONS of forgotten weapons and really understanding various styles of BCG/FCM, the modern AR has a truly amazing design. The direct impingement system keeps the overall weight of the rifle low and the design of the auto sear and bolt carrier create an extremely simple out of battery safety. For a rifle which people talk so much smack about, it really is a beautiful piece of engineering. Awesome video, I have been curious how this functioned for ages.

A Mr. Stoner designed One so slick, it wasn't shipped with cleaning kits. I"m still pissed about. That. A lot of good, decent men died after firing. 3 or 4rnds and it didn't go bang anymore.. Fortunately, someone solved that problem. The AK was another dependable weapon. 99% of the time if it had a round in the chamber, it would go bang.

@@ronmcever405 The main issues was that of using old stock ball powder instead of the IMR which raised the dwell timing, and not chrome lining the barrels in a humid a$$ jungle environment creating pitted chambers etc (huge problem with the 556 straight walled cases especially when you raise the port pressures).. No cleaning kits/not cleaning just exacerbated the problem ten fold on top of those major issues. But ya after the A1 upgraded modifications along with cleaning kits it worked seemingly fine, but it was definitely rushed into service as a main fighting rifle. The ak47 went through many problems in the beginning too (ie type 1 to type 2 ak47s) but it wasn't rushed into a war before major testing. Its design was almost already 20 years old by the time it saw action in Vietnam and had any issues worked out long ago by then. There were so many problems plaguing the m16 before the A1 that it was border line criminal that soldiers got that rifle. It's not a problem with its design though, it's a great rifle and still to this day.

@@mrprussian1694 I'm sorry we were over here kicking ass on two fronts (maybe even 3 if you count the Africa campaign) with far less casualties than the Russians. Sure they arrived at Berlin first but constant bombing raids on the German interior from the USA helped the Russians significantly. Also, D-Day would have been nearly impossible without America's involvement. We pushed up through Africa into Italy (Successfully defeating another axis power) and also took back France. Our Navy and marines brought the Pacific theater under control and then our nuclear program ended the Pacific front. You can have your own opinion but the truth remains that Americas powerful industry and military leadership were major factors in the turning point in the entire war.

@stickpge
@stickpge Год назад
old comment but still, in practice the 3 round burst works the same as combination of a semi and full auto system, the first three shots are basically fired in full auto but with a system similar to a ratchet each cycle basically engages a small teeth part attached to the firing mechanism of the rifle which can only go one way, each time the gun cycles the next tooth of the process is engaged once its done that basic rotation 3 time the system basically trips like a semi-auto rifle and the mechanism needs to be reset by letting go of the trigger afterwhich the whole process begins again

In Firearms Instructor School, we never called it a primary sear, the T.O. called it a "Trigger nose" and a "Hammer Notch" NOT a primary sear. The only sear mentioned in the curriculum and T.O.'s was the sear, that you referred in the video as the "second sear" 3 round burst. A second disconnect, different safety, a 3rd burst cam added. You can use the same safety in the 3 round burst as in the full auto. Nice video that explains a lot to the general public and even Military for those that have never fully understood how things worked inside...

Tuan Nguyen It was designed by a man named Eugine Stoner, while the patent was in effect I believe he made a dollar for every rifle sold. He became wealthy from his creation, unlike Mikhail Kalashnikov who received nothing as far as royalties for his invention. The greatest gun designer in history in my opinion is John Browning though. His inventions are still in use more than 100 years later. All three of these men were geniuses though.

@chuckvan1568
@chuckvan1568 7 лет назад
Hope Is Key There's a lot of information out there regarding this which you can find with a google inquiry. It's important to note that FOPA 1986 was intended to provide relief from some of the regulations that infringe gun owners rights."In 1986, to reaffirm Congress's intent in passing the GCA and prevent improper law enforcement by BATF, Congress approved the Firearms Owners' Protection Act (FOPA). Near the end of debate on the measure, late at night with most members of the House of Representatives absent, Rep. William Hughes (D-N.J.) introduced an amendment related to fully-automatic firearms. Despite an apparent defeat of the amendment by voice vote, Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.), at the time presiding over the proceedings, declared the amendment approved. Hughes and Rangel were longtime "gun control" supporters."The important thing to note here, is the part about the reprehensible Charles Rangel who made a declaration that was contrary to the voice vote and got the amendment inserted into the bill when it shouldn't have been. He also refused to allow an actual vote on the amendment. Democrats Rep. Rangel and Rep. Hughes were long time gun control advocates working in concert on the same committee. "BATF interpreted the amendment as a prohibition on the civilian possession of any fully-automatic firearm manufactured after May 19, 1986. The effect of the interpretation has been to "freeze" the number of privately owned fully-automatic firearms at roughly 150,000, an exact figure being unavailable due to privacy protection requirements that apply to tax-based laws such as the National Firearms Act. The crime-fighting utility of the 1986 "freeze" was questionable, since no legal, civilian-owned fully-automatic firearm had been used to commit a violent crime. BATF's director at the time, Stephen Higgins, had testified before Congress in 1986 that the misuse of legally-owned fully-automatic firearms was "so minimal as not to be considered a law enforcement problem." From www.nraila.org/articles/19990729/fully-automatic-firearms

Yeah you would need some serious machining equipment to make these parts, and also probably preexisting parts to copy. All in all it would probably be cheaper just to buy a legal machine gun.

learn as much as you can and build your own lowers as much as possible. I learned a lot building my first lower you really learn how the whole system works and any issues that come up are easy to spot/fix. Good luck on your build and if you get frusterated, take a break and come back later but dont give up. Its been 8 months im sure you are probably done already but just in case 👍

+Blatant Abuse EXACTLY.. its so simple.. If we didn't have tyranny, it would be easy to make those extra parts and do our own ar15 conversions.. but instead we have to buy them for 10,000+..
@mihaeltomasovic
@mihaeltomasovic 8 лет назад
+Blatant Abuse you don't need to spend thousands of dollars on a fully automatic m4 or m16a1 or something of that sort... if you don't want to "break the law" you can simply purchase the *binary* trigger system which fires a round both when the trigger is pulled _and_ when it is released. you can fire _so_ fast with this *100% LEGAL* modification that you can actually outrun the bolt carrier LOL....
@mihaeltomasovic
@mihaeltomasovic 8 лет назад
+calholli it's actually only about $250 to have a gunsmith modify your bolt carrier group and sear.
@calholli
@calholli 8 лет назад
Kristjen Štjuprić Maybe, but for you to find a drop in auto sear or m16 lower.. it's gonna cost you 10k+

***** how low is your intelligence? Must be very low if you actually think machine guns are effective at killing both in a micro and macro statistical way. And that they're difficult to make meaning banning them means denying access them to people.

What an amazing video! I've always been into Shotguns (sporting clays and such) but just recently started to get into all firearms. First I got into a Revolver kick, and now I'm interested in semi auto pistols and rifles. I couldn't for the life of me think inside of my head what the mechanical differences were between semi auto and full auto... and this video was probably the best explanation on the subject. Thanks!!!!

What I find even more impressive is the ingenious/wizard magic of how the 3 round burst works. I spent a lot of time taking apart and putting together the M16-A2 rifle and I still couldn't figure out where they put the magic fairy dust in that trigger to make it fire 3 rounds in under 2 seconds.

Thank you for this very well thought out detailed explanation. Although having used automatic weapons during my service in peace time and in combat my experience with the M16 in Vietnam changed my thinking that full auto is really useful. Aimed fire does more to bring down the enemy than spraying bullets using full auto. That being said I was always curious as to how full auto worked in the M16 which was the rifle I had with no forward bolt assist and a three prong flash hider. We were told that the only difference was the addition of the full auto sear between a semi auto and full auto M16. Now I know a little more about it thanks to your excellent video.
