How Does a Non Hormonal IUD Work?

IUD stands for intrauterine device. It is a contraceptive method that is put inside your uterus. A non-hormonal IUD is a small, copper-coated, T-shaped piece of flexible plastic. This is why it is sometimes called a copper T.
The hormone-free device uses copper to prevent pregnancy. Sperm don't like copper. It changes the way sperm move so they can't get to the egg. If the sperm cannot reach the egg, pregnancy does not occur.

I have decided that the non hormonal iud will be best for me because my current birth control pills are negatively impacting my hypothyroid medication. I don’t have a thyroid and am on meds the rest of my life. After 6 months on them, I just can’t handle my hypothyroid symptoms worsening anymore. I opted for non hormonal iud because of that. I hope I start feeling better after my appt. As far as my thyroid symptoms improving again.

I have the hormonal IUD but I am getting really moody and angry at people I might need to switch the script to copper IUD

I had my iud placed at 8 weeks pp. I'm now 7 months pp and have had no issues with it moving around or anything! I was super hesitant about getting one initially, but I'm super thankful that I did.

I'm 6 weeks postpartum and I'm really happy I got it now. I didn't have any pain, they said it was probably because I have given birth recently.

I have this a copper+silver mini iud, it's served it's purpose well but my period has become so much worse. I've always had a pretty regular period, but before the iud it lasted for 3-4 days max and I only had one day with mild cramping. Now it lasts for 7 days, with mild to severe cramping on 4-7 days and that sucks so much because I really hoped it would be the perfect birth control for me. Now after about 2 years with awful periods I'm considering removing it but I dont think any other methods will be a good match so I dont know what to do. Maybe I'll just discuss a vasectomy with my partner since we don't want to have children anyway
