@Gabrielle Mehrmann you do realize Google maps isn't a live video so stuff can appear and disappear so searching it on Google Earth doesn't mean anything really
Sandy Island (sometimes labelled in French Île de Sable, and in Spanish Isla Arenosa) is a non-existent island that was charted for over a century as being located near the French territory of New Caledonia between the Chesterfield Islands and Nereus Reef in the eastern Coral Sea.[1] The island was included on many maps and nautical charts from as early as the late 19th century. It was removed from French hydrographic charts in 1974. The island gained wide media and public attention in November 2012 when the R/V Southern Surveyor, an Australian research ship[2], passed through the area and "undiscovered" it. The island was quickly removed from many maps and data sets, including those of the National Geographic Society and Google Maps.[3] The island never existed. Mystery solved.

The island itself NEVER EXISTED. The cartographer was clearly not a professional if he charted something that does not exist. Also, it was removed from the French hydrographic charts 44 years ago in 1974.
Nastassja Ficko Soklic many claimed it was there since Captain Cook - who was not just 'some cartographer'. The research team went out not because of the map - like some radio transmission guys did in 2000 - but due to the pixilated image of the island known to be there on google earth. if it was blacked out on the sat map, id wager they also "adjusted" its position/coordinates so no one could just venture out on a boat and see for themselves. realize that using GPS to confirm ones location is fundamentally flawed. if GPS satellites were programmed never to truly lead to a location then I'm sure they wouldn't,and I'm sure in the middle of open ocean, 99% of people wouldn't be able to tell. I leave 1% of people as plausible but even so I have my doubt's.
These days, not too many people know how to use old celestial navigation tools and charts to find their position. They are too dependent on GPS receivers, which might be "spoofable." Then again, maybe this is another example of the _Mandela Effect,_ where people claim two different versions of the same thing, such as _BerenstEin Bears_ vs _BerenstAin Bears._
West House maybe it was a 100% sand island that disappeared bc of to much sand from the sea being collected by people.like the videos you see of beaches falling apart and the govt used the blackout to prevent people from worrying.
China probably just harvested for its sand. And before you say why china it's because they are a major player in sand/cement usage and are literally making islands.
I was out on a fishing expedition with a neighbour of mine in 1993, he told me of the sandy island and wanted to know if i wanted to see it and i said yes as we had been boat bound for a few dit was NOT made of 'pumpice' it was made of sand and some rock no mistake, I spent about 3 hours on that island and when I saw it had disappeared I thought something is wrong this cant be true but here we are....ays, it was not a small island and at the highest looked about 400m
the philadelphia was actually not an experiment to make an object disappear, but to teleport it through space to a different area. it’s said that it disappeared during the teleportation though, so the conclusion of the experiment was that they didn’t achieve their goal, but they found out how to make the ship disappear in the process.
I only know that island has been disappearing because now we have pollution hot sun that melted the ice in Antarctica and the ocean is getting higher and higher that made the island sink and go missing
Even if what you just said is true the ice caps would’ve had to melt so much to cover up land 4500ft (not sure of the correct term) but if it was true almost every country would be at least half underwater
Wapole, near New Caledonia, used to be visible on Google Earth, but now it is blurred and it is not possible to focus the close view. I used to be able to see features, and photos were included. Now it looks like it is underwater. This island rose out of the ocean with cliffs all around. There was nothing there.
So they didn’t pixelate the island. They just did the equivalent of whiting it out but in blue. They were just trying to say it’s not there anymore lol
My guess (i'm no expert) is that it was as the name implies made of sand, and over several hundred years and several terrible storms it weathered away, taken by the tide.
I think sea tides (high and low tide) has something to do with this. Like in our country Philippines, our country is composed of thousands of islands, some of them disappeares when high tide occurs but reappears when it's low tide. So maybe that's one of the reason why it's not visible sometimes or visible on satellite.
That looks like the same shape as the mysterious asteroid that the astronomers could not figure out where it came from or where it has gone. Looks very much like it.
I’m no scientist, what if it is something like a geyser under the ocean. Every now then it pushes the earth/sand up. The ocean disturbance and wave causes it to have a certain shape. When the geyser like phenomena is over it sinks or dissipated.
I LOVE that program on TV, I watch it all the time. There are mind-blowing things that our satellites find now, in all parts of the world that only spawn more questions about what they see than what they know -- yet! Incredible possibilities, though, and they are now exploring some of these remote sites to see if they can find out the story behind these strange sites!!

The movie Spy kids 2: the island of lost dreams, showed the use of a device known to make islands disappear. They called it the transmooker device and I think that with today's technological advancement, there's some substance to it.

Cook thought too he discovered an island. I did not go ashore on the island. He just passed it from far and wrote it on the map and named it Sandy Island. It was for centuries a place to land for a time spaceship. Camouflaged as land. After being discovered the spaceship never land there anymore. Spaceship from other worlds need water with sea salt and organisms.
Mabe it wasn't an island after all mabe it was an alien craft they do have different shapes and sizes and their technology is probably 100 or thousands of years ahead of ours but again its just a thought.
Could it have eroded away from stormy weather and wave action? What if the island was comprised of unstable, rocky debris covered in sand and loose sediment?
What if some rogue wave, hurricane etc. hit the island and the ground flew everywhere and its blocked out on maps because no one has had time to make that part of the ocean water? Just a theroy
If it were just misplaced on old maps, why would it show up on Satellite Images, which we are "told" are real photographs? Good Job guys, you have just debunked the existence of satellites!
Here is my thoughts for you people f your seeing this . My first thought was that there could have not been an island in the first place cuz it could’ve been just a broken pixel glitch but then I changed that into it possibly being an un discovered giant island monster ... aka the island being like a giant turtle and the island itself is its shell because turtles often float
it was a space ship that looked like an island. these ships are all over the earth...disguised to look like islands, mountains.....we dont see whats really there.
Islands are just mountain tops. Maybe this one collapsed. We have documented evidence of large chunks of islands collapsing due to tsunami's and other things. Sandy Island was probably named Sandy because it had a lot of sand. Maybe this particular mountain was being chipped away for a long long time, until it finally collapsed and disappeared into the ocean.
So I went on google earth, bing maps, and several other software... no island in sat view, but if you do ones, like google earth and bing, that show the ocean floor topography, there IS a land mass there. Now it doesn't say how deep but its there.
You know that island that Wonder Woman's peaple lived on? That thing dissapeared when you were far enough from it. That Sandy island (i don't remember it's name) has the same ability. But... it's just a theory, a GAME theory!
