Discover how chemotherapy drugs use cytotoxic agents to attack cancer cells and the impact they have on your body.
--
During World War I, scientists were trying to develop an antidote to the poisonous yellow cloud known as mustard gas. They discovered the gas was irrevocably damaging the bone marrow of affected soldiers. This gave the scientists an idea: cancer cells and bone marrow both replicate rapidly. Could mustard gas be used to fight cancer? Hyunsoo No details the discovery and development of chemotherapy.

Chemo destroys many parts of the body. Some don't recover. I've known a number of chemo victims that clearly lost I.Q. points to chemo. It destroys the brain. There are much better treatments. Chemo is one of the few treatments where the doctor gets direct kickbacks. Perhaps that's why it's still so popular.

I am 24 years old and just three months ago I felt invincible. The healthiest I’ve EVER been. I ate a whole food plant based diet, did daily yoga, hiked with friends, walked my dog daily- just lived a super active lifestyle. A month ago I got diagnosed with stage IV cancer. The cancer I have, cholangiocarcinoma aka bile duct cancer, is very rare. I was told only 10% of people with my cancer make it past two years. I have innumerable tumors all over my liver, in both lungs, and in my lymph nodes. I pray everyday for a miracle, and couldn’t be more thankful for science.

The amount of damage the treatments have done is clearly visible but, even to an agnostic like me, it's like a miracle she is still alive. @frostek He's right, you just didn't get it. The reason the vast majority of diseases don't have a cure is not because it's impossible or hard to do it. It's because it's not financially advantageous. We live in a capitalist world, wake up. If every cancer patient got a miraculous cure and recovered instantly many corporations would go bankrupt. It's much better to just treat them until they either die or have the luck to survive. It's just how it works.

got diagnosed with leukemia when i was 11 years old now aiming for 18 and cured. chemo absolutely destroyed me but it saved my life. emotional support is extremely helpful when someone is battling cancer. I remember when my mother would always put on a smile for me and make me laugh the whole day even though she was dying inside watching me fight for my life and the helplessness she always felt. but the laughter i would always have everyday because of her was insanely helpful made me forget everything and that i was fighting for my life. if someone close to you is fighting cancer be there for them even though it’s extremely hard and hurtful to see someone like that especially a close one still try to be there for them as much as you can emotional support is huge.

Kal El I hope everything will be ok there..be strong.. BUT! fyi cancer isnt a disease..humans dont die due to cancer but with cancer..no cancer human may die..cancer is a survival mechanism.. My advise is to do diy liver & gallbladder flush..i guarantee u, u will cure if death isnt near u.. Ive seen many and one of them is a friend(suffered leukemia) who did what ive mentioned..6 days of organic non gmo diet..do it back to back as ure affected..he is healthy af..chemo only helps 0.21% on human body..u are ur own doctor..cancer hates sunlight, cancer hates heat , cancer hates oxygen etc..our cells needs oxygen..dont consume chicken, protein stuffs & sugar..u will be safe trust me..sugar is the no 1 that cancer love and cherish the most..it grows cancer.. U can be cured by sunlight other than liver & galbladder flush..but to get to the ROOT CAUSE of illness is flushing.. Doctors only talk to u based in their practiced license..i can assure u, the root cause of problem is our liver.. Believe it or not, ur call..im just sharing..im not uttering rubbish..its all based on my own experiences and thats why i hate the monsantos, the pharmaceutical industries.. If u think ure up for it, check this guy out..he is dead at 2012 and his cause of death cannot be exposed neither his family members..Andreas Moritz(German Guy)..this diy flushing has been done 3000+ yrs ago at the pharoah's time..but modern era doesnt expose it..cos hospital industries wont make money if all of the people knew abt this..doctor doesnt cure u..only u could cure urself..positive mind do play a part..positive mind will get a healthy body in certain issues..psychosomatic matter.. Scientists predict that we will have nano factories by 2050-2060 These factories produce nanobots which have the potential to eliminate cancer and all bad diseases such as HIV and AIDS across the board. Scientists are also looking at modifying certain cells to act as biological nanobots which can also do the same thing if given the proper programming. Imagine going to the doctor and getting a yearly inoculation of nanobots which pretty much prevent you from dying even in old age due to diseases or other natural causes. The only thing that would kill you in that instance would be age itself, and maybe not even then as we come closer to artificially printing organs and limbs. It may be as easy as a doctor taking your stem cells and printing an organ for you which cannot be rejected by your body due to the fact it was made using your own cells. Between that and neurolink, we are on the precipice of a golden age. If we don't destroy ourselves before that.

@ravenblue3901 2 года назад
@@rakeshhubert3031 there are many many drugs that don't work nearly 100%. This doesn't mean the drug is useless. Every time something like chemo is prescribed, it's always a calculation of risk vs. benefit (basically, does the possible benefits of the drug outweigh the possible negative side effects). As anyone who has been on chemo (including me) will tell you, your doctor will never say chemo is guaranteed to work. But for something as deadly or debilitating as cancer or severe autoimmune diseases, you will try it. This is not only the case with chemo, but so many other drugs. If a drug needs to work 100% to be approved then so many medications which are vitally important for many people would be banned.

I'm proud that I've been part of the study, because I took advantage of the experience patients have made before me and I hope my treatment produced valuable data which helps patients in the future. My mother was diagnosed in 2015. Did chemo, radiation, masectomy/lymphadenectomy, took various alternative holistic medications but eventually succumbed to this awful disease. It seemed like nothing would work and she remained positive until the end. R.i.p mom 2017.

My mom was recently diagnosed with cancer, she was operated asap, now she is undergoing chemotherapy, this video was really helpful understanding the process better, thank you TEDEd, also I could totally relate with the initial quote stated “cut it, burn it, poison it” there should be more alternatives

I've known for years that my mother has a tumor near her spinalcord but only recently found out that it's gotten worse and now she started chemo. She was trying to hide it from me and every one else because she didn't want us to be worried. Even worse is that my parents are divorced and that she lives in a different country :(. It's so hard for her. And also she has lost her mother (my grandma) less then two years ago. She was the closest to her and one of the few things she had. I just wish everyone to stay healthy, never give up and be grateful for what you have.

I appreciate this explanation very much. I used to gullibly believe those who said that chemotherapy did more harm than good and that you should only treat cancer with natural solutions. The problem is that professionals often simply dismiss concerns and questions that are brought up, and make fun of those who fall for misinformation. Videos like this take a good nonjudgmental approach to giving the facts; including benefits and side effects.

I am cancer free. My chemo was very aggressive because my cancer was aggressive. I have pancreatic cancer and have been THRIVING and SURVIVING for 2 1/2 years now. My oncology team did an awesome job. I only got really sick the first couple times I had chemo. The worst side effect is the neuropathy in my hands and feet and always being tired. I take 23 pills a day right now. I have peach fuzz on mt head and no hair any place else on my body. I could care less about the hair. I will not get a wig.

being a cancer patient who now looks like any normal person having to shave my hair only once my and having to survive healthy perfectly my doctors put me as an example to motivate others I used to have acute lymphoblastic leukemia and I was diagnosed at age 9 and recovered at age 12 and now I'm 14 I have come back to my life although I still am very much behind and believe me it get tideous to study 17 hours a day non stop and yet still be average this is one of the major disadvantages but the time I spent away from studies and people in complete isolation even having to be away from most friends and family I learnt value of various things my love for study has grown making me now someone who adores intellectual convos I have become more inquisitive day by day most of all I have become less vulnerable to my surroundings knowing that not everyone deserves my loyalty despite everyone knowing my situation I have been bullied and called a sympathy gainer for only protecting my friends and I have learnt to defend myself well from such people. At first my goal was to fit in by doing wrong but now after realizing I made it my goal to spread my word by working hard and not gaining popularity by uploading pictures to gain a few likes
