ps. I only wish it was as easy as just stating your honest opinion. The biggest challenge (for me, at least) is communicating what I mean in a way that most understand in the same way as I meant it. Sometimes some seem to understand things different to how it was meant, occasionally pretty much the opposite. Sometimes some seem to invent a subtext which just isn't there in reality. Sometimes it seems this is down to individual bias, but other times I realise that something I said could legitimately be taken more than one way. Like flying, it's all part of the challenge which keeps us engaged! 😎

Been flying the ion 7 for a while now and I agree it's a great glider. Safety with really good performance. I found a bit of outside brake gets rid of any roll when turning. So solid in big air and I found it good when scratching in the light stuff. 🙌 😁

Nice and thorough review! Between this and the Tenor 2, I think I might go for the Advance Epsilon DLS. 😁

From our testing we feel all three of those wings are great in their own right, each with their different characteristics. Which is the best match for each individual pilot will vary according to the various factors involved.

Thank you for this review. When upgrading from an A glider which would you recommend an Ion 7 light or a Mentor 7 lught ?
@samu.fliagn

If you are really confident with your a wing, throw it around, spin it and do all fun stuff with it, you can think of a high b like mentor Otherwise you should go with low b like ion

Hi, thanks for your comment. 🙂 Truth is there's no one good answer to that simple question for everyone. For most, upgrading to a well-performing low B wing e.g. Ion 7 (light), Epsilon DLS, Tenor 2 (light) would in truth be the best option. For some, upgrading to a well-performing mid B wing e.g. Theta, Beat 2 (light) might be the best option. For a few, upgrading to a high B would in truth be best (for most, not). In truth, it's rare that upgrading to the more sensible, progressive option is proves to be a mistake. It's unfortunately all too common that pilots upgrade too fast and bite off more than they can chew, often setting the pilot's progress and enjoyment back - sometimes leading to them having an accident or giving up flying. If in doubt, take the more sensible, progressive step. It's really down to the individual. Hope this helps. ps. If you'd like our expert buying advice to ensure you order the best wing, harness of reserve for you, including the correct size, see our Flybubble MATCH service: flybubble.com/flybubble-match-service

How would you compare the ion 7 light with the arak air? Regarding the turning, I had a bit the same feeling with the nova double-skin(slow to start to turn)
@powstash
@powstash 5 месяцев назад
I'm also trying to judge between the Arak air and Nova 7 Lite. Arak Air is rsted a mid B, Nova 7 Lite a low B, similar specs. Really appreciate the perspective of the Flybubble team

For the newish pilots would great to see a comparison between the Ion 7, Buzz Z7 and Epsilon DLS, and while you are on that also the best wing / seat harness combination. Are wing and harness of the same brand indeed the perfect companions? Not asking much, I know 😉

To be honest, doing this in a video would be a pretty massive undertaking, and this only covers 3 current models which have a limited shelf life = not really worth the effort for us (we are a micro business with very limited resources). Plus all reviews always misses out a key element: the individual pilot. One pilot's perfect wing is another's yuck wing. This is why we offer our Flybubble match service, which we genuinely believe is the best way to get the right match of pilot and gear (it's actually quite an involved process, even taking us quite a lot of time to get right, as pilots who've signed up to it find): flybubble.com/flybubble-match-service
@flybubblecarlo
@flybubblecarlo 5 месяцев назад
ps. As part of our match service we first do a consultation of the pilot and then look at all current wing models listed on our website ( flybubble.com/wings ) including the Ion 7, Buzz Z7 and Epsilon DLS, to name but a few, to eventually arrive at the best match for the pilot, taking all factors (of which there are many) into consideration.

@@flybubblecarloI fully understand the undertaking must also be worth your while. From your website and the information you share via youtube you don't appear to be a micro-business. You are doing great work, it's a shame you are on the wrong side of the North Sea for me. AFAIK these 3 Low-B wings from some of the major manufacturers should be on the short-list for novice pilots like myself, looking for a no thrills wing they can safely grow into, take out for their first mini XC and grow old with. They have also just recently been introduced (2023->) and should be around for a couple of years? Will you consider a single review of the Buzz Z7 instead, please?

Are you using the Niviuk Roamer 2 ? How is it ? Thinking about buying it for me as well
@flybubblecarlo
@flybubblecarlo 5 месяцев назад
Nancy and I tested the Ion 7 and Ion 7 Light with various harnesses, as we usually do. The Niviuk harness seen in this video is the Makan ( flybubble.com/niviuk-makan ) which we like a lot (with a couple of minor criticisms) and plan to publish a review of. We both feel it's probably the easiest harness to get into we've ever flown! The Niviuk Roamer 2 is a great light yet durable reversible harness. See our notes on sizing on the product page on our website: flybubble.com/niviuk-roamer-2

Do you think its worth upgrading to the Ion 7 from the Ion 6?

Yes, definitely, it's a significant upgrade! 👍🆙 If you're not very happy and mighty impressed, I'll eat my flight deck! 😉

ps. As always, since we are 100% customer-oriented, not brand-oriented (within practical means*) I would encourage all pilots to not limit their possibilities by brand i.e. consider all similar great wings: flybubble.com/wings/progression-paragliders * Whilst we offer a very wide range we focus on what we believe is best and offer a select range of brands and products. Even within the range of brands we offer, we aim to offer only those which are the best and add value for our customers.

Hey Flybubble Team, this is not related to the ION but maybe a chance to get a Hint from your side. I was watching many Previews on your chanel and got a little lost unfortunately. I am flying since some years the U-Turn Blacklight 2 (mid to high B) in S (with up to 10kg Overweight) and same glider in M at the top edge of weight. I love this gliders but they are getting old and "used" so I am lokking for a possible replacement. I know you may not give recommendations but maybe at least a hint which one could fit to me on your Investigation which you did. In first place I am looking for a high B Skywalk Chili 5 in S (slightly under Top weight) Do you maybe have 1 or 2 other ideas for me? By the way I am looking mainly for slightly used ones to have a good pricing as I do not like to spend up to 4k € Keep up with your great Videos!

If I were you, I would consider the new phi beat 2, try to fly it in a test mode. This is a mid B, but according to the experience of the previous version, it may well compete with hi B. The best part is that beat is quite easy and gentle about aerobatics, this is really the golden mean, which is quite informative for the pilot and not boring like many low B
@twingoman2000
@twingoman2000 5 месяцев назад
@@pashautkin105 Hi and thanks for First hint. I already tried a different Phi (Symphonia 2) yes it is an A but i was with overweight ob it. Unfortunately at least this one was to soft on the brakes for me as well as to slow in Reaktion after Inputs. If I have the Chance I may try the Beat but so far I am not really Sure If Phi will be my choice. In any Case thanks for the Input ☺️
@Adr1i96
@Adr1i96 5 месяцев назад
I mean you tested an EN A glider. Would expect it to be a bit less fast in turning and reacting on your inputs. I flew the Maestro 2 last Season and I really liked the (for my feelings) very direct input/output. Maybe A is just not your category anymore and you need to try mid and high B.
@twingoman2000
@twingoman2000 5 месяцев назад
@@Adr1i96 Absolutely, as I wrote I use a mid to high B since years, just got the Chance to test the Symphonia as many of my Friends said in overweight it is kinda B one. Main thing which I dont like in it, is the force you need on the brakes. It feels way to low for me and over the whole travel it is not increasing. At mine, it is a Kind of Workout, which not everybody likes but I love to a hard brake and also Input from the Wing to the brakes.

Thanks for your comment. Glad you like our videos. In answer to your question, honestly, I don't believe it's really possible to answer it well - not even for us - without going through a proper consultative process, which is why we offer our Flybubble match service - info on our website. Of course you will get no end of opinions, many conflicting. From what you've written sounds like a) you've been testing the wrong size wings and so possibly drawing wrong conclusions about these and b) you want a high B that's not too demanding with firmer brakes, so Nova MENTOR 7 and Skywalk CHILI5 are possible candidates. However I recommend you consider all available options e.g. flybubble.com/wings/xc-paragliders
