The sound is a little off on this video - turns out I didn't have my microphone turned on and had to rely on AI to fix it up as best as it could! I hope you still enjoy the video - Thanks guys, Robot Tish over and out 🤖
I've had an A1 30 TFSI S Line S Tronic for 4.5 years on motability and have loved it. Great car. I need to change the car by December this year and was going to go for another A1, but as much as I love it I would like an SUV driving height next time around. V difficult to know what to go for. Don't agree with those who say the Polo is better - the inside of the A1 is far superior, and the exterior styling of the A1 trounces the Polo.
@@itsyourgurllmila I've had no reliability issues. I wouldn't say it's cramped. I don't have kids so the size is fine for me, but I would imagine the A3 would be a better size if you have kids.
Loved Audi from my first Audi 100 Avant through A1, S1, A3 hatch and Saloon and then a brace of S3’s. Sadly my last Audi in 2022 was a disaster, infotainment issues, leather side bolster on seat that wore through in 5000 miles and a seat that also reclined all on its own as you drove along! Audi have subsequently admitted that they had cheapened the car and made a mistake but, for me, that was no consolation. I had rejected the car and will, probably, never buy another.
This will confuse the Americans who think that a Q5 is a Sub-Compact 🙂 It would be interesting if you did a side by side comparison of the Audi A1 with a Skoda Fabia. Do you get much more than a premium badge for the extra money ?
Great video Tish, the A1 is a superb car. I bought a Skoda Fabia SEL DSG last year, quality is just as good as the A1, large boot and lower insurance groups despite being mechanically identical. You'r right about the driver assist. I tried a C3 last year too and didn't like all the bleeps and speed limit notifications! There is a bigger gap in quality between there C3 and Peugeot 208 than the A1 and Fabia.
I have one (s-line). The radio control on the centre console is designed for the front passenger - the driver can control the volume and station selection via the controls on the left of the steering wheel. All models have the bonnet slit, not just the s-line. It has a great premium feel, great looks and great build quality.
Yes, that’s completely fair. I never use background music, the only reason I used it in this case is because my mic wasn’t switched on and the audio was terrible without it 😅
Great review Tish! 🎉 However I think this generation of A1 is very underwhelming. I used to work for Audi & noticed the interior quality has taken a massive nose-dive compared to the previous generation. In fact, the current generation Polo that it’s based on has a much better quality interior. That shouldn’t be the case with Audi. Also no performance model & the discontinued Competition model with the 2.0T petrol from the Polo GTI was a lazy attempt.
Brand new A1 turned out to be the worst new car I ever bought. Repeated repairs and problems, dealer wasn’t interested. In the end Audi got involved and another dealer bought it at rock bottom money but I was glad to get rid of it. Later I saw Audi dealers were 28th for customer satisfaction so my experience reflected others. Yesterday I was with a friend who bought a brand new S3, his has been in repeatedly for warranty repairs and he can’t wait to return at the end of his PCP.
my boss's S3 auto box failed at 6 months old........was constantly in for diagnostics/repair. A1 and Q2 models have been discontinued as far as I know.
@@Bambotb its just the final run out 2nd gen models, Audi CEO announced it back in 2022. there will be no successor to the current A1 & Q2 (typically 4yrs between each Gen)
@@Mogsy28uk so smallest audi will be A3? means whoever can afford it should get a1 as an investment now wow, the current model will be sold for at least 3 years though right
Your videos get better & better Tish. It is a great looking car, but still too expensive for what it is. I had an A3 with that engine 4 years ago, barely more expensive. Have that engine in my Golf 8, although it is a micro-hybrid variant, even smoother. Keep on the great work. Cheers, Tom
Nice looking little hatch that has got beter looking over the years. The dash is very VW looking which i suppose is to be expected. The mic sound was a little odd in places Tish otherwise a very professional preview as usual.
pretty sure the A1 and Q2 have been discontinued, due to new safety gear that needs to be installed as std later from late 2024 -- same reason the Fiesta was discontinued, small car costs too high.
Hi Tish - what would be your opinion of going from the A1 to the hybrid petrol Jeep Avenger? On motability the cost difference is considerable (about 3 grand) and I do like the driving position of the Jeep, but no dealers have the auto petrol version to test drive at the moment. There's a lot I like about it but I don't want to sacrifice too much on premium quality.. My other shortlist contenders are the T Cross and Audi Q2, but the Q2 is also dated now and I'm not too sure on the exterior styling!
To me this is not a premium product. I don’t think I am the target market as a family man; it’s for boy and girl racers who like a premium badge - but beyond a well thought out dashboard and no doubt a good driving experience, there seems like there were too many comments here about quality of the rest of the cabin/boot. I am biased against Audi though ; in the 80’/90’s the poor drivers(technically, not financially!) drove BMW’s, then late 90’s this switched to Audi and I think Tesla and Range Rover have taken over now. Very prejudice I know.. but I am leaning into middle age man mode and there is more than just a grain of truth in this theory…😂
We looked at one a couple of years ago and found it a bit boring, we went for a Mini Cooper s as it was so much better car to drive, quicker and better build with a better quality interior
Hi, Tish 💙Buying premium is - always - the smartest decision. Because the bigger price (maybe) it vexes you in the buying moments ... but the higher quality gives you satisfaction all the time that you own & use the product. 🙂
Wolf watching your videos but the background music was terrible wait forward to watching your videos to hear you come in about the car not to listen to music Relax
@@craighuff8598 that’s a fair point. When I went to edit the video, I had practically lost all sound due to my mic failing, so I had to use Ai to recover it. The sound in my opinion was really harsh on its own, so I added music to soften the harsh peaks.
@@AutoSocialUK It looks like you can get a Skoda Fabia with it for £25630. There again how many girls dream of driving a Skoda ? Having said that my wife dreamt of Smart cars until she sat in one and then bought a Skoda Citigo.
So many small compact cars disappearing, salon cars, ideal second car, just a lot of jelly mould SUV’s that are hard to park cause more damage to roads due to their ridiculous weight, and pollution from engines (more CO2)A3 now same size as old A4, this same as A3 seems stupid to me, but this looks ok, A3 I had endless electric problems, common I was told by the independent Audi garage.
The problem with Badges nowadays is that you shell out your money not for reliability but rather for an illusion of reliability. No wonder people would rather buy a Toyota yaris then A1 because Toyota is No. 1 in reliability and Audi and the rest of the Kraut gang is much much lower on the list. Not to mention Audi subscription model for upgrades. Low. And when you spec up A1 to the fullest the price is almost equal to the Lexus LBX which is small SUV and quality wise in the different Universe compared to Audi. Wake up people…. European car manufacturers are dying a slow death. Labor is expensive and the quality suffers.
Expensive money pit to maintain, TFSI bad for burning oil, go for diesel, why should someone need a service plan, rip off, be better off with a Toyota instead
That’s fair enough. Basically my mic wasn’t plugged in, so I had to use AI to fix the audio and it sounded so awful 😂 the music was to take the edge off this
