It's all about pressure training as you progress. The good part at least for me was as the pressure and resistance increased, the number of useful techniques decreased which in turn made it easier to think and react under pressure.

He picked up some part from the mower and knocked the guy out and he was arrested. Another friend of a friend was at a bar and got into it with a guy. I've done some training where we would get the hard plastic knives but ink on them and wear shirts and pants were were cool with messing up and do knife sparing, sometimes on the ground. (Probably the most challenging sparing I've had) always got cut but thats how it would be in real life. No matter how well u are trained in a knife fight especially on the ground u gonna get cut. With Guru Joe (one of Dan's students) we sometimes did the first knife drill shown here but with being chased but with a tazer knife.

Yep. Speak truth. You are basically trying to trade less harmful cuts that are more easily treated for more serious injuries.It's much better to have a few shallow cuts on your arms than your face or being stabbed anywhere.

there are legit techniques and you have to train tons to make it work in real life. i've learned a lot. but as a 135 pound person who can bench press 120 pounds, whenever my partner is 190 pounds or more who can bench at least 160 pounds, i lose every time. i can catch the initial attack yes, but then it becomes a grip battle, which i eventually lose if we keep fighting. groin strikes, headbutts might work, but obviously i've never tried them for real with my partners. it's a hypothetical. i'm also 5 feet 6 inches, when training with a partner who is 6 feet or over, good luck getting the leverage in a standing position. now imagine a 100 pound woman learning knife defense. it really seems like a fantasy. best they can do is stop the initial blow, not die immediately, somehow run away within the first 5 seconds.

Kali Center once talked about how even if you know how to fight vs a knife (especially if you're unarmed yourself), your best bet is to get some distance and *not* take the fight. Knifes are always dangerous, even if you are far better at fighting than your opponent.
@Erime
@Erime Год назад
Yeah, just as the other posters above have said, PLUS don't forget tailoring your strategy to your own particular situation. Every 'poison' has its antidote, and being smaller and weaker isn't necessarily a disadvantage. LaoTzu mentions in TaoTeChing, for example, how snakes and scorpions, and birds of prey and other beasts don't harm newborn babies (the famous thing of how wolves can even care for human babies), and so your smaller 'child like' aspect can become a highly manipulative 'tool' in itself - to the point your attacker can feel like they are about to kill an innocent newborn baby - that is, if you can 'master' that aspect of yourself in the 'Zen' way (see Thich Nhat Hanh's teachings on 'inner child', for example). A bigger guy defending against a smaller, weaker yet highly skilled knife attacker can't play this card as easily as you, so you gotta use that to your advantage - train for that for a real street scenario. Play weak, innocent, and YIELD until you have lured your opponent into a very vulnerable place before you do your blitz attack on them. That's really your only hope. It sounds weird, probably, but knife attacks are weird in themselves. Because, as soon as someone draws a knife on you with lethal intent and you are trapped, the situation is already way beyond a normal 'fight'. 1) there is lethal intent, 2) you are lacking a weapon, 3) there's no civil honour in place (that would normally prevent a fighter from using dirty tactics like kicking to groin, for example - a knife itself is VERY 'dirty' and you've gotta get equally sly in your response). As he says in the video, when the knife is out, it's not a skill-based MA situation - it's like they've pulled out their dick - it's that crazy and f'd up. It's something way beyond the normal civil wold, and so your approach needs to be equally 'out of the box' - beyond competitive MMA sparring, or even Street Fighter computer game muscly guys facing off for the honour of their Dojo, or whatever. It's about your very on-going existence, and there's no one size fits all for that level of complexity. It's about yin and Yang and spirituality when a knife is drawn - because all it takes is that hammering thrust to your belly and then you're bleeding to death. It's beyond any dojo - unless that dojo is a Zen temple 😉, perhaps...

Get a chair a milk crate a mop stick. You don't want to get stab or get slash. An army man in Australia knows what to do he grab a chair and the stabber can do as much as he wants to stab to the chair and another person took a milk crate to pin the guy down until the police comes

Big difference between those who masters Kali and those wannabe. This video shows a person who masters kali and develop his own techniques, that's the way of kali. There are video out there that debunks kali and think they did master it. We know our history of Kali and practice in the fast, and it was just over shadowed by gun powder. @@pcap8810 even with the gun, the smart person will get/maintain distance from the threat. Creating distance gives you more time to draw your weapon, and prevent yourself getting stabbed even tho ya shot the guy. (Police do this) And if it isn't legal to carry? Step 1 is still the same! Keep/creat distance. Cheetahs are faster than there prey. But even animals ain't dumb enough to just stand there and get ripped apart. So they run. Simple.

I have been attacked by a person with a knife , disarmed them and taken the knife from them in a real life situation , I didnt get cut 1st thing I did was grab something to use as a shield , what I used was a jacket that was laying there and I wrapped it up on on my stronger arm so that I could still use my hand, I'm left handed Next thing I did was put my arms out as far as possible from my body while being in a low position braced down I then drew in a attack by faking a attack and then once I could , I grabbed their knife hand , twisted my body into theirs so it's almost like they were now standing behind me and I started biting their hand , I took a punch to the head but thats fine it wasn't that great After that I attacked the person like a wild animal with elbows , never allowing them to get away from me , I stuck on to them and I put them in the hospital Another time a guy pulled a knife on me and I almost cut his arm off with a 32 inch wakizashi that was really close by because after that I never was in a group of people without my own weapon close by , I hacked at his ark twice saying , drop the knife , in a insane voice

So on that fateful day you just happened to be recovering from a sprained ankle and don't have a firearm (for whatever reason). The nature of knife-defense comes with the inherent threat of harm and the high odds of getting cut...still have to train for it - the eventual disarm may come after enduring 7 or 8 superficial lacerations and 1 or 2 non-organ hitting stabs, BUT just before an arterial cut. Despite your wounds, would the knife-defense training be worth it then?
