How does my Religion look at the Earth/the Environment? The Perspective of Islam. (video 1) 

S.I.S.R., and St. Vincent College, Pune, have chosen the topic -their 'What importance does my Religion give to the Earth or the Environment?' - for their annual Zoom Inter-Faith Dialogue Seminar. When we think of the Environment we think firstly of the planet Earth on which we live and move, the only habitable planet in space that we know of. But we are also of the Earth, though humans have evolved only recently from the Earth, and will return to it. Hence, our relations with the Earth are manifold. We need to ensure the Earth’s survival. Our different religio-cultural perspectives will help us find new solutions to safeguard the Earth and all Life.
Dr. S. Tamboli stresses that peace is the foundation of human life as created and willed by God. God is the Protector of all life and has made man his custodian to preserve and maintain harmony in creation. Man is responsible for creation and must obey God's inbuilt laws in nature. Because of his uncontrolled desires, man mixes up needs and wants and disturbs nature's balance. God likes cleanliness and simplicity. Those who waste natural resources are evil and accountable to God at the judgment. Man must work for the welfare of others and of creation.
