I love so much how Red in the Johto games is just this figure that doesn't need to say anything to you understand how of a legend he is, is really like a myth
I remember the first time facing Red's Pikachu thinking "haha lol" then it used a move I hadn't seen or heard of at the time "Volt tackle", I curled up into a ball and started sucking my thumb
@emanueleesposti9806 yes and no. HGSS Pikachu is equipped w a Light Ball, an item that can only be used by Pikachu, essentially doubling the power of it's moves. So that 120 Volt Tackle becomes 240.
Remember: Red was canonically never defeated, (confirmed in this case), since the battle with him in MT.silver and in the following games, has no Canon winner, so we can only theorize
@@panagiotiskevopoulos in an event that involves him and Cynthia he's facing Ethan and defeats him, Ethan dialog says that this time he thought he could win implying Red has defeated him before
@@linakorig9this why everyone gets mad at me when I say red is the strongest trainer in the world and best of the best only reason we beat him in games because we’re the player vs NPC but in reality he’s really known as the unbeatable trainer
Even with Pikachu Red deserves S in my opinion. The 3 starters w/ Snorlax with any two random Pokémon would be enough for an A in my book. Pikachu gets some extra levels, and a lightball in gen 4, so that it can keep up with the rest of the pack just fine. And Espeon/Pikachu round out Red’s type coverage nicely. Especially Espeon when Snorlax is such a freakin tank to anything but fighting. Most importantly, this fight is ICONIC. And that’s what pokemon is really all about. GSC fuses two regions together all to build up to one final moment: Red, and he lives up to his important final boss status
Red was THE Trainer that NO ONE beat their first go around. Canon ending is you lose to the strongest trainer and every "rematch" doesn't exist in the original timeline. He's top of the charts, no doubt.
@@iRazenrak Oh, I agree that Whitney is a dummy-close second in terms of first attempts. But it's not like the 15 to 20-level jump from beating Blue to fighting Red. About 1 in 4 people lucked out their first go and didn't get Rolled Out into paste to fill the cracks in the gym's floorboard their first time. Lol.
His fight in SS was the most difficult I ever had in playing that game My first time I was EXTREMELY unprepared. Got swept CLEAN without even knocking out a single pokemon.
I did beat Red for first try but I did spam bunch of full restores lol. cuz I was literally unprepared on that time with lvl 70s pokemon lol. I survived Red with 1 pokemon left and under 50hp, it was a nightmare tbh.
Reds team is basically the optional team you can end up with in pokemon yellow (yes thats ment to mirror the anime for ash) but given one of the names you can choose for your character presets is red The only exception being espion as that wasn't available in gen 1 games so its likely it would be 1 of the original eeveeloutions
I think Red simply didn't want to evolve Eevee he obtained at Celadon City, maybe to stay as Pikachu's playmate. But since he didn't know Eevee can be evolved through happiness, something that he discovered three years later, he accidentally evolved Eevee at day, thus the Espeon.
@@erir8643 the pokemon origins explains it better i watched it ages ago but I don't remember if he evolves his eevee but I only really done it if I was missing a fire electric or water pokemon in yellow which I never was due to having charizard, blastoise and venasaur
Thank you for bringing that topic on the table! I wanted to say something : I'm not a world champion in pokemon strategy or anything, but I have finished almost every pokemon game ever, fought countless characters, and this fight with Red in Mount Silver was by far the most difficult fight I EVER had.
Red's gen 2 is S+ tier compare to his gen 4, which is an S tier. Look at the gen 2 setups, with Snorlax (super OP due to recovering with Rest) and Espeon (with that Mud Slap)!!! Sometimes he'll switch mons on you, setup moves like Rain Dance with Blastoise or Sunny Day with Venusaur then switch to corresponding mons to hit you up like Pika's Thunder (hits 100 accuracy for Thunder when Rain) or Charizard (for the fire-type boost when sunlight). Fearsome!
@@JMAR_GAMES Yes, he's supposed to be. His entire shtick was to catch you off guard with his massive levels and sweep you. He isn't a pushover when you have his levels, but he has every Hyper beam equivalent move on his team to make use of his insane level gap over Lance and the Kanto Gyms.
@@charnalk5572 No? Lmao, after the Kanto gyms he has like 20 levels on you. He outspeeds and one shots you with a 20 level advantage. Pikachu sucks, it’s his worst mon, but it’s his highest level to offset that. His team is good, it’s not amazing, but as a kid yeah that man is difficult. All the Kanto starters still get used in VGC what do you even mean 💀💀 Charizard has had the most usage out of all three and he’s been used frequently in almost every generation, are you daft?
@@charnalk5572 Same reason all of them did, though only Charizard for Gen 8 They were used through gen 1-2-3 and they were used in gen 4 somewhat, but it was niche, same with gen 5, he wasn't OU in those gens, but still got spammed online lmao. Charizard was spammed in all four 3DS titles. And no, charizard was good asf in gen 1? He's even being spammed online in SV right now as there is zero good switches into him besides like Drizzle Pelipper. And as in every gen he was used in, he's a monstrous special wallbreaker, though he was more physical in gen 3 thanks to belly drum being really good, and options for him very low. I do not think you know what you're talking about lmao.
Each champion holds a place of love or terror in each player’s heart (can still hear those piano keys in my sleep…) But I would love to see Red used more often as something akin to a super boss in each entry. I think that would give a great post-game challenge and extend a game’s playability in an awesome way.
This would also downgrade his status a "Legendary Trainer" if he ends up getting whooped by every protagonist He's already not the best or most powerful since he lost to Ethan/Lyra, Nate/Rosa, and the Ultra versions of Helio/Selene, and Victor/Gloria should be better too as they were the one to defeat Leon
All this really tells me is that actually the team you can end up with in Pokemon Yellow completely naturally is just one of the best teams the devs have been able to come up with on their own...
It's so cool to see he has all the pokemons referring to all 1st Gen pokemons.. Red - Charizard, Blue - Blastoise, Green - Venusaur, and a Yellow - Pikachu ❤❤😢😢
red may be the strongest trainer lore wise. but gamewise nah. pretty much his levels are the only reason why. half of his team isn't even threatening. And his team is more nostalgic doesn't even compare Cynthia, Volo, Iris, Leon and even Blue.
Lore-wise he's no where close, he lost to Gold/Ethan/Kris/Lyra, Nate/Rosa, Elio/Selene, and the protagonists of the Let's Go games. Elio/Selene dealing with Ultra Necrozma and team Rainbow Rocket is infinitely more impressive than anything Red's done, same with the reincarnating protagonists of BDSP, Legends Arceus, the previously mentioned Let's Go games, Sword and Shield, and Scarlet and Violet, so among protagonists he is one of the weakest ones
The reason for Red being up there is all because of Blue. Blue has always been the one that's trying to be one step ahead of Red, which pushes Red to be better than him.
no he isn't he shouldn't be S+. a special snorlax with shadowball and blizzard? wtf? and his only stab move is giga impact which can be exploitet... Pikachu still very weak he dies to any move and is not that fast with 80 spd. red has 3 pokemons weak to electric but doesn't even have ONE groundtype move to counter that weakness.
Bro just gonna ignore the psychological aspect of having been in his shoes his whole legendary journey. You know how strong he is and how formidable his foes were. You know he lost zero battles. You know someone like that is the only one who could stand in your way now. You were hyped, yet the lingering anticipation still mixes with a little shock and awe too. This time, you didn't leave in your pokemon against bad type matching because you were so confident in your team being that strong. No. This battle, you took seriously. Unlike even the Elite 4.
Imo Red is a Pokémon trainer God. He’s the first character to be used in the game/ series and his team has all 3 starter final evolutions including an especially powerful Espeon ending his team with tanks like Snorlax and Lapras. He has strength to all other types and can switch out to go against any weakness (water type vs Charzard he change change to Venousor). He’s a GOATed trainer
@@nicolasbikic2861Red is a pushover. This kid don't even use items, doesn't have EVs in his pokemon which = trash. Cynthia would destroy red in a heartbeat. There's a reason people call her difficult while red mostly has his genwunners fans hyping him up when his a total cakewalk lol
Think like you're a 10 or 11-year-old playing for the first time and not knowing any of this... That's the "scary" thing about the moment. At first, haha very funny, Pikachu, you see the level that is more than 15 levels than your initial and 20 more than the rest of your team and this is no longer funny
If I took the same team to fight every champion in their strongest form (post game) I think Red, Leon, and Cynthia would be the toughest simply due to their diverse team comps
Yes i played pokemon when there is no internet so i tried all pokemon to reach max lvl. Im using the trick to duplicate candy that will instantly lvl up the pokemon and i found out that most of red pokemon is one of the highest stat when reaching max lvl
Okay, so Red gets really easy to beat when you're leveled. I used Steelix, Scizor and a plan to deal with Blastoise are all that you need. Use Stealth Rock with Steelix, bring in Blastoise and deal with it, and lure in Venusaur. Switch to Scizor, use Swords Dance 3 times and Bullet Punch your way through his team, +6 Technician boosted Bullet Punch OHKOs Charizard after Stealth Rock, but you can use a Metal Coat if you wanna play it safe.
He may as well be considered a Champion anyways, same theme as Lance, and you don't get a League Ribbon for beating the Indigo League in HG/SS, instead if you want something similar, you gotta go take on Red for a Legend Ribbon
Lest we not forget that one of his Pokémon is a NFE Pikachu. It's fast and pretty sure to get one hit, but as long as that hit isn't super effective, Pikachu is dead. Plus, half of his team is weak to Electric
Red is the second strongest trainer I have ever fought first would be Volo. Some people say giratina is a seperate battle but you have to fight Volo and Giratina at the same time so its all 1 battle for me.
