@Gerry Freeman let me voice my opinion about you. That comment made you seem really quite ugly. I'm a bit disgusted at your way of thinking and your need to voice an opinion that is not beneficial to others. I hope you change that about yourself one day.
When I first saw him I had assumed that he was albino, but he is indeed of the most humble polyglot in the language community, really enjoy listening to him!
Richard is very humbled & honest guy to be able to speak 40 languages he's the greatest polyglot in tje planet I've heard he's relly fluent in over 26 & he should hold a record guiness for that!!! for some reason his brain must be programmed to learn languages fast undoubtedly &needless to say he LOVES languages i admire him so much &hope to meet him somedayi can speak 3 languages on ac level one on a b2 level & thelast &fiftj on ab1 level compare to 40 languages my languages are peanuts... Im looking forward to meet him in 2020 at the polyglot conference. .
@ joe tyler first i'd like to apologize, for not answering you, actually i am taking care of my 91 yr old mother & never had the time to read or continue reviewing languages i want to start learning arabic.i speak my mother tongue spanish, english, italian on a c1 level, portuguese at the end of b2 level & french on b1 level...take care of yourself God bless you!
I suspect he works hard at language learning, and he listens a lot. I could be wrong, perhaps he is gifted. I’m sure he’s said that he isn’t, then again he is modest!
What he mentions about getting a texbook and using it in his own way as he makes it relevant for himself at minute 4:55, I kinda find that a little overwhelming. I mean, this might work for some people like him, but it would definitely not work for me. I find texbooks really boring and I get distracted pretty soon, besides most of the dialogs textbooks bring are usually boring.
A textbook can be boring but sometimes u don't have a near place to take good language classes. Also for me finding a good book for the langauge i'm learning was really hard because i had to find something suited for self study not for a classroom so had to do a lot of googling and try books that didn't work
Agree. C level is where it gets the most fun. You can read, watch movies, understand jokes/ wordplay and generally enjoy the foreign culture without opening a dictionary every minute.
Thats your goal but other people just prefer the number and thats ok you are not special if you go for fluency instead of the number of languages you need to be humble
@@шашалакоәмпанадахихихи Getting near native level fluency is a special achievement though. Not that that person is better. Or has some special gene or intelligence. But it's very impressive and admirable.
