But starlink offers speeds up to 500Mbps while my fiber connection offers 10Gbps with 1/10 of PING. I hope I never have to change to satellite internet.

Hey there! Thanks for chiming in with those specs. Wow, 10Gbps fiber? That's some serious speed you're rocking! No wonder you're hoping to stick with that. I'd be clinging to that connection like it was the last slice of pizza at a party. You're totally right - for folks with access to that kind of fiber, Starlink isn't really in the same league. It's more aimed at people who can't get those sweet, sweet fiber speeds. Your comment's a good reality check. It reminds us that while Starlink's doing some cool stuff with space internet, it's not about to dethrone good old terrestrial fiber anytime soon. Enjoy those lightning-fast downloads and butter-smooth gaming sessions! The rest of us will just be over here, green with envy. 😄

Ah Starlink. 15 month user here. Best I can say is it was okay. You get connection drops all the damn time, because of the little gaps within the satellite network. It gets really bad sometimes. As far as gaming goes. Again, it's okay. Ping can be good, but also spikes up to 100+. That sounds crappy, but when the alternative is a provider that has 600+ ping, Starlink starts to look pretty good! Streaming is decent, because your movie buffers ahead, so those little gaps don't matter. Weather is give and take. If you get an electrical storm, you will have to wait until it blows over to play on the internet again. Snow doesn't seem to bother it too much. Elon does however like to over charge for what you get. 120 bucks a month will get you a pretty decent fiber connection, same for cable. Think the best speed tests I saw were around 150 meg down, usually around 10-15 up. Oh and the fun thing, it kills things. If the signal clips the top of some trees or a bush, well good bye tree or bush. 5G is deadly stuff, when consistently transmitted into it. Soooo....is it good? Kinda. Is it worth it? It can be when the alternative is carrier pigeons and flash drives.... But great video!

Hey, thanks for the epic rundown! 15 months with Starlink, huh? That's some serious field testing right there. Sounds like a bit of a rollercoaster ride - those connection drops must be a pain in the butt. But man, compared to 600+ ping? I guess even a bumpy space internet ride beats that, right? That weather thing is wild. Gotta love how snow's no biggie but thunderstorms send you back to the stone age. 😂 And whoa, what's this about zapping trees? That's some sci-fi stuff right there! Got any pics of crispy bushes? Really cool to hear from someone who's been in the Starlink trenches. Seems like it's not quite the miracle cure for all internet woes, but hey, beats carrier pigeons! Thanks for dropping this knowledge bomb on us. Super helpful for anyone thinking about taking the space internet plunge!

I was going to watch this and then the intro was 5 min long and then I said nevermind

Oh man, I feel you! 😅 Yeah, I might've gotten a bit carried away with the intro there. My bad! Tell you what, if you're still curious about the Starlink tech but don't wanna sit through the whole shebang, why not skip ahead to about 5:30? That's where we really start digging into the meat of how this space internet wizardry works. Promise it gets more interesting after the intro - we're talking satellites, laser beams, and a dish named Dishy McFlatface. How's that for a hook? 😉 But hey, no pressure. Your time is valuable, and there's a whole internet of videos out there. Maybe I'll work on tightening up those intros for next time!

I have it and its good when it works but it never works

Oof, that's a bummer! Starlink's supposed to be this game-changer, right? But if it's not working, it's just a fancy paperweight. Have you tried giving Dishy a pep talk? Maybe it's just shy? 😂 For real though, that sucks. Any luck with customer support? They might have some tricks up their sleeve to get you back online. Curious what kind of issues you're dealing with. Dropouts? Slower than a snail race? Might help other folks watching to know what to watch out for. Here's hoping you can get it sorted and join the space internet party soon! 🚀🌐

Nonsense. Go watch the 'common sense skeptic' take on this barrage of non nonsensical marketing jargon.

Hey there, thanks for chiming in! Look, I get it - you're not buying what I'm selling. That's cool. Everyone's entitled to their own take on this stuff. I tried to break down the tech in a fun way, but yeah, maybe I got a bit carried away with the jazzy explanations. My bad if it came across as marketing fluff - that wasn't the goal. You mentioned Common Sense Skeptic - they definitely have a different perspective on Starlink. It's always good to look at tech from multiple angles, right? If you've got any specific points you think I got wrong or oversimplified, I'm all ears. Always down to learn more and improve the content. At the end of the day, I'm just a space nerd trying to share some cool tech. But hey, if it's not your jam, no hard feelings!
