I saw them live this summer, and to be honest, their best songs are really good, but a lot of songs suck as well. I also think that the main guy (the one in this video) is really talented, while a lot of the others in the band aren't :P

zeelhazard lucky I'm trying to get off duty for a bit so I can actually see them but I'm currently assigned to an outpost for a few months then I have to patrol cities but mostly in Moscow and Saint's Petersburg

You know, they currently have no booked gigs, so your not missing out. Martin has stated that they will try to do a bigger tour and play outside of Sweden once the new double album and Marble Machine X are finished. Also, Zeelhazard, I will have to disagree, even their worst songs are REALLY REALLY good. And while it's true that Martin composes most or all of the material, I don't even get how you can suggest that Marcus, Evelina and David are not good musicians. What do you base that on?

Might have seen them on a bad night or at a venue with poor acoustics. Happens with all musicians. All in one tour any band or group could have concerts that fans and critics alike swear were absolutely amazing, and then they play another one at another venue 4 days later and everyone leaves feeling like they were robbed of their money because of how bad it was. Same group same tour, different experiences.

Danny Marks I've sen them twice! Both at Backafestivalen and att Emmabodafestivalen, very similar experiences (: However my first comment did come off a little bit rude- they are good - no doubt about it, but their videos lately are a big step-up

He's said earlier that they're working on a "modulin 2.0", because they've had problems with the instrument breaking down on them in the middle of concerts and stuff. So maybe they have to get that done before thinking of doing tutorials on it.

So just an FYI, while i would love to build one myself, i went to the website that they got the parts from and a rough estimate is about 650 USD. Cool idea, abit beyond my budget if i use what they use, but i'm sure one could find similiar parts from other retailers.

The module is a very simple instrument from a theoretical standpoint but the practicals of getting it working would be quite annoying especially when you put it into some kind of case. I fully intend to save and create one of my own. it may be very different however.

Thank you for this description! I have always envied those who were musically inclined, and while in college I had several friends try to get me into Techno music production, but I could not easily see what they understood by listening. Even with my childhood choir and trombone experience. I have always seen this as a gap in my understanding of the world, but with your very straight forward descriptions I am starting to see that with my engineering background I will be able to cobble together instruments to hopeful help my children not experience what I have experienced. Thanks, but you got one thing wrong! The introduction to 'Also sprach Zarathustra' is indeed used in '2001: A Space Odyssey' but it's originally a composition by Richard Strauss, inspired by Nietzsche's book of the same name! :)

And why is that wrong? It's just incomplete reference I've made. But since the movie theme can be heard on the background when he finishes to play it, that's why I made the reference to it. Besides, everyone brings that movie usage to mind first, and Martin plays another movie theme afterwards.

How wonderful! I've been playing around with building electronic instruments myself. The best solutions so far have been digital, with the latest one being a midi controller. I tried an completely analog version using a 555 chip and it was good for a while until the little arcade style buttons starting pooching out on me. Your solution is lovely *and* I am impressed with it's range of sound with the different modules. Truly it is a synthesizer with it's own unique actuation system. Well done.
