If someone could answer me this. I just moved in the UK and I am wondering, do I have to submit a Tax Form every year myself if I earn aroun 33k per anum or is everything covered by my employer when they auto-deduct my taxes from my monthly payment? I just don't want to get in any trouble with the goverment of tax fraud if I am simply not understanding the system..

your employee has the wrong tax code or hasn't got one from you. in this case. you'd be charged emergency tax and get this back once the correct code is given. you should get the money back in terms of HMRC cheque or through an additional payment refund showing on your payslip

How does the personal allowance limit work? I keep reading on sites "every 2GBP you earn over 100,000GBP, your personal allowance reduces by 1GBP, meaning a salary of 125,000+GBP [as of 2019/20 tax year] has no personal allowance." I understand that, however how does it affect the higher band? So, visualising your bar graph illustration at 3:41 (with up-to-date figures though): Does increasing the salary from 100GBP to 125GBP ONLY move the personal allowance towards zero, while the figure in between basic rate and higher rate remains at 50,000GBP? OR, does this figure between the basic/higher tax rates also move down? If it does move down, how quickly does it move down; The same speed as the personal allowance, or a different speed? A reply would be much appreciated :)

Yo Finance Dude, Could you create a video where you address a change in tax code within the same tax year, please? Say, a new hire joins and selects option A on the employee statement of a new starter checklist. That is, 1150L cumulative in, say, tax month three and via a subsequent P6 assessment in tax month 5 the PAYE code is altered to, say 785L. How this affects taxable gross and personal allowance MTD and YTD figs? Could you do the break-down month by month from tax month 1 to 6? Hope I have made sense.

What if your annual income is £18,000! How much will it go to taxes?
@reganlammas
@reganlammas 6 лет назад
hi, so I've been doing some overtime recently and people keep telling me that I'm going to get taxed a lot, but, I'm only earning 17.5K a year so would I only get heavily taxed if the overtime causes my earnings to go over £43k? So, in other words I won't get taxed any more than normal.
@fastfinance8837
@fastfinance8837 6 лет назад
You are correct, this is a fallacy. People assume moving up a tax bracket or doing lots of overtime means you are somehow liable to pay additional tax. In reality everyone pays tax according to a standard set of rules. For example, if you earned 40k across a year or 40k in one month and then nothing for the next 11, you'd pay the same amount of overall tax.

anyone help i just turned 21, and my next pay day is end of this month... do i have to earn 11k before getting taxed more? im so confused in how tax works
@alubchicken
@alubchicken 4 года назад
Replace the 11k with 12.5k, as it's updated for 2019/20 Tax year (6th April 2019 - 5th April 2020) *PLEASE CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG* The first £12,500 (salary per year) you earn is tax-free, which means HMRC cannot take the first potential £12,500 that's meant to go in your pocket per year, if they think your annual salary is going to be £12,500 (aka £916.67 Gross Income per month), but they will take National Insurance (it's mandatory anyway, to qualify for state pension). So in summary, if you earn OVER £916.67 per month (estimate £12500 per year), you have to pay 20% income tax on the difference. EXAMPLE BELOW: Suppose you earn £1200 this month, your first £916.67 is pretty much "income tax" free. The remaining taxable income is: £1200 - £916.67 = £283.33. Now you're going to get shafted with the 20% tax on the additional income, so... 20% x £283.33 = £56.67 So you will pocket: £916.67 + (£283.33 - £56.67) = £1143.33 AND I haven't even calculated National Insurance yet, so you will take home a little less than £1143.33.

@fastfinance8837 6 лет назад
Hi. £1k per week is obviously £52k per year. This would put you into the 40% tax bracket for some of your income. Assuming you have no other benefits which affect your tax code you would pay a total of £9496 in tax over the year. There would also be National Insurance contributions totalling £4564. This means your weekly earning after tax and NI would be £730.
@melattadesse5688
@melattadesse5688 6 лет назад
1,000*4= 4,000 a month *12= £48,000 is your yearly income. As whats on the video, i think, 43,000-11,000= 32,000 32,000*20%=6,400 5,000*40%=2,000 So it will be £8,400
@fastfinance8837
@fastfinance8837 6 лет назад
Close but you have assumed four weeks per month when in reality it is 4.33 hence starting at 52 weeks per year in the example above.

My pay is over 100k. This means I have no personal allowance. So i just pay 40% tax? Do I have to do a tax return? Pretty bad I lose my personal allowance
@fastfinance8837
@fastfinance8837 4 года назад
You personal allowance diminishes gradually as you earn over £100k. The benefit of going from say £105k to £110k still outweighs the loss the of the personal allowance but it is still noticeable. You will pay the standard rate tax on the first part of your earnings, 40% on the next part and 45% anything above £150k. So you don't pay 40% tax on everything. HMRC taxes you through PAYE but if you receive additional funds (such as dividends or investments) you will need to declare these on a tax return.

taxation in the UK favours the very rich AND the very poor - everyone in the middle - most of us ordinary folks - are propping up the entire country - why ? because the govt does the maths very carefully - to see how best to screw the highest amount of income out of the population as a whole - not just the rich. in UK for instance, tax is so ridiculous that you only get to spend around £20 from every £100 you earn - surely this cant be true you say - but it is - when 70% of the price of petrol is tax, 60% of the price of alcohol is tax & VAT on almost everything (on top of duty ! ), you have income tax, corporation tax @25%, national insurance, road tax, gambling tax, car tax, insurance tax, travel tax, inheritance tax, capital gains tax, ULEZ tax - the list is endless - we tax on top of tax on top of tax - when you even die you are bloody well taxed !
