Don Frye is god-tier legend in MMA. To this day, he had the most entertaining fight I ever saw with that giant blond Japanese dude where they just grabbed each other's heads and pounded away.🤣🤣
Takayama! Yeah, the match began with both of them in a perfect stance and them beat the shit out of esch other like absolute warriors. I think Takayama is in coma nowadays and Frye always talked great things about him, even visited him I think
Im old enough to remember when he actually had a high pitched voice in early UFC. It's hard to find videos of him back then now days. He must have had some surgery or something for it.
Don is a literal hall of famer to the MMA sport and in my opinion he is a father that birthed the sport it is today. He deserves all the respect in the world to the sport of MMA. If you dont know Don Frye, you dont know mma.
Don Frye was one of my favorites, but always looked out of place to me. He looked like someone’s dad had just shown up because he heard there was a fight. He came to break it up but ended up kicking everyone’s ass instead.
I always wondered about Big John McCarthy. Like, there are two badasses in the octagon to beat the crap out of each other... but McCarthy the one in there to make 'em act right.
I ordered 12 tickets for me and my buddies to watch UFC at the very start. In Rhode Island. I got the tickets but they cancelled the event. Too brutal for RI and they didn't want that violence. That was WAY at the start....
@@steelcage3387 - Still remember the day I first got my illegal cable box and the only thing playing on every channel was Ghost Dad with Bill Cosby lmao! Got every early UFC for free back then too, but had no idea what I was watching. Great times!
Using a phrases "Thank you sir" & "No sir" and giving a wink when humor is involved, this type of breed is on the brink of extinction. Frye is hero level!
Of all the guys that get hit by the toughest guys in the world, don not only is one of the best, but also still can recall memories, and talk well. He really is in a league of his own.
Don is about the most straight up hard as granite honest, fearless & likeable American tough guy you could ever imagine. Dons also a real gentleman and when he’s gone I doubt we will see too many men like him again. I hope but I very much doubt it?
He forgot the question after about 6 seconds you can see the moment on his face. Then he finally comes around back to it when he answers the fire fighter question
@@Blake953 I don’t think his stroke he had helped , he never used to sound like that either !! His had a full on life and to be honest I could of listened to him ramble on about his life for hours . Not sure about him fighting Francis tho 😂😂😂
Sound like a cowboy dying in his partners arm's with a gunshot wounds in the chest, "I know i wasn't much of a talker, but...let me just tell you my story before i go.."
I love this!!! Joe should have all the older UFC guys on they don't get the respect they deserve. Don Frye calling Joe Sir just shows the difference in respect of the times. He's a righteous dude.
Age does the soul good. Man was a fighting legend and now a guy I’d love to have a beer with. A true legend!!! These dudes were just tough. No fancy moves but just bad ass toughness
I didnt know about Don until watching more and more of interviews with him and his fights. This guy is so humble. I wish the best for him into the future.
Do you have any idea who is replying to your comment right now? It's the FUNNIEST MAN ALIVE! Me funny (!!!) vids are so extremely funny, if you don't cry tears of laughter, you are allowed to thumb down me XTREMELY FUNNY vids! Do you think me funny (!!!) vids are funny, dear eih
Don Frye is such an amazing person that it's as if he isn't even real. He's the greatest movie character that Hollywood couldn't even create. How is this guy NOT a household name? Legend.
I see what you mean but I think Justin Trudeau has him beat. We've been trying yo get him to answer yes or no to a single question: did your family profit from a contract. 6 years down the line his answer is still the same. "The Canadian people expect us to do better and so we are".
@@odinson1 Dude Don Frye always gets brought up when talking about MMA greats. What are you even talking about? I think you're just looking at the wrong direction. Because really, Don Frye underrated? That's like saying Randy Savage is underrated.
I love how Joe directly asks him multiple times how he got into the UFC but Don completely ignores the question and goes on about his multiple jobs and travelling he did 😂😂
I met Don in Bisbee, AZ in 1992-93 where he was a firefighter/EMT. I was a probation officer and we had probationers doing community work service at the fire department and that's where I met him. He was a beast but very cool.
If I'm being honest it's a family guy joke about Chuck Norris. But, Don Frye is the guy Chuck Norris calls after he has a bad dream to come over and check under his bed and in his closet for monsters... and the ghost of R. Lee Ermey.
To me he is a genuine example of a proper Chad. Polite, yet doesn't have to be because he can practically whoop your ass for the same result AND then some without breaking a sweat. And it's not even a sort of "hostile" politeness either where it's masqueraded intent behind candied words.. he's just the type of guy you WANT to return the politeness to because he seems just genuinely pleasant. Even in his prime fighting age he still had this aura of kindness and respect and you could get this verified by each interview after the fights where he showed respect to opponents. He is what any man should aspire to become.. though preferably with less pain.
Can we just talk about how polite this dude is though? Like he is the living embodiment of testosterone but he still saying " Yes sir " no sir " and can I please borrow your lighter ". That's what a real man is
This dude is a different type of strong. He fought in a time with no weight classes or time restrictions and won a title. He's as hard as 50$ jawbreaker
Nothing was more bad ass than Don Frye in his American Flag bottom grabbing and exchanging a fuck ton of punches with the Japanese giant Yoshihiro Takayama.
It’s cool to hear someone recall cool things they have done. Not only that a selfless man doing what it takes to survive and provide. Sad to say but a lot of people now will never relate.
