The show’s major success came from its stellar cast members. Sadly, some of the main My Three Sons cast members have passed away. The My Three Sons cast members brought us some of the most memorable characters ever featured in an American sitcom. These actors also had incredible lives and careers.
Fred MacMurray played Steven Douglas, the titular character of the show. He began his career as a singer and musician before graduating from acting. He became a favorite of top Hollywood directors and eventually became the highest-paid actor in America! By the time he was cast in the show, he was considered a national treasure.
The show also starred William Frawley. Though he was perhaps best known as Fred in I Love Lucy, his role as “Bub” O’Casey is also one of his most popular roles. He appeared in the show for 3 seasons. He sadly left due to poor health and passed away in the mid-1960s.
His character was replaced by Uncle Charley played by William Demarest. The veteran actor was a favorite of director Preston Sturges and had established himself as a formidable character actor. His work on My Three Sons made him a star to TV audiences.
We’ve sadly also lost Don Grady, Meredith MacRae, and Beverly Garland who all had integral roles in the show. They also had successful careers in both film and television and their work as part of the My Three Sons cast remains some of their best work.
