Part 1 of a maybe 2, or 3 part series. Working my way up to skating 100km, sharing what I learn, the advice I have received, and what works for me with you guys. Also heavily testing the Pantheon Pranayama. Putting it through its paces. Hard to believe I've already logged 100km on it lol.

Can you do a video on your favourite boards that you frequently use (e.g. commuting, free riding etc…), how you set them up (wheels, trucks etc…) and why they’re your fav’s .

The first few moments of the video; Prana on dirt… would not have thought of that. Looked like it handled well!

I just bought the mcfly wheels about a week ago. They are so nice 😌. Like for real. If you want to commute or distance skate, and are looking at either speed vents or caguamas, at least consider these. They are softer and higher quality than caguamas, and the high rebound urethane doesn't sacrifice speed for the confort it gives. 10 stars 👌

The '88 wheel Co mcfly' wheels btw. They are 76a, and look more blue than in most pics.

Thinking about those… I have a Prana and a Trip colab. I own one set of 85mm wheels; Speedvent BlackOps purple. I rode The 80a Cags and loved them, but they were lost, alas, and now I need another set of big comfy wheels and considering the McFly option.

I have both the mcfly and mango speed vents. I use mango when i skate alone since i feel like its faster. With my friends it's the mcfly. A bit slower but more comfy.

Regarding eating for endurance sport you should look at the work of people like Tim Noakes, renowned South African doctor and ex long distance runner. He used to advocate for carb loading but a few years ago started to recommend the exact opposite - low carb with plenty of good animal fat for energy and, meat (+veggies if you want). Running in ketosis means no "bong" and no "wall". Despite his marathon running he even had become diabetic (type 2) on his old diet (now fixed on his new diet). This is not something you change just before an event but you should look into it. It is very common now

You have to eat before you get very hungry for long distance running/hiking/boarding. By the time you get very hungry your muscles are out of glycogen. When doing long distance cycling after about 25 miles I try to eat a lot. I can probably make it to 40 but by then I dumped all the glycogen fuel in my muscles dvd then fatigue sets in and eating after that doesn’t improve the fatigue without lots of resting.

more video of your city, very different looking for sure

Agreed. More of the city! The downhill videos could also show more of the surrounding and views around the road.

Don't let your board and set up hold you back. Load a backpack and get on your smallest board if you can get 25km like that reliably once your body adapts you will kill 150km on a primo set up w/o the weight.

Very stoked to see your LDP experiences! And maybe learn about your city along the way. I gotta say that traffic is insane. I rode my bike through rush hour traffic in SF for a number of years, and sometimes it can get that dense, but never as chaotic. It’s good you’re carrying food and fluids, but I would recommend staying with water over soda. Even though you are burning calories like crazy, the high fructose sweetener is tough on your body. A pack with a hydration bladder and drinking tube like a Camelback is really helpful. Having the tube right there will encourage you to drink when you feel the need. That works for me anyway; skating or cycling or in my kayak.
@LongboardingExplained
@LongboardingExplained 2 года назад
I will take the camelback recommendation. I was shying away from buying one as it is expensive, but an investment I don't imnd making further down the line, especially if I do more ldp. Will keep in mind the soda thing. Got one more 50k this week and will test how it impacts the ride. And more about my city to come. Gonna do a pranayama first thoughts/Nairobi tour next video. Should be fun!!
@jayseven5eight253
@jayseven5eight253 2 года назад
@@LongboardingExplained yeah, if you gotta stop every time you want to drink, you don’t drink so much. If I am out for a bike ride, I will easily drink twice as much if the tube is right there, instead of having to reach for a bottle. I have a large version for long MTB rides. Holds 3L of water and my bike tools. Maybe a touch big for skating, but I know there are sizes aimed at runners. You probably could get a waist pack version that would carry all your stuff if you don’t want a backpack style setup. Mine is not even a Camelback… I have a Dakine that’s 20 years old now. Changed the bladder maybe 7 or 8 years ago.
