There is another point: On the eddsworld wiki, it says that Tord came back but with a different voice, because they COULD NOT CONTACT TORD LARSSON, which is why he was voiced by another guy. If they couldn't contact Tord, then he didn't even know they were going to make him come back.And I honestly thought it was a little disrespectful to Tord, because when he left before Edd died, Edd never even brought it up, but when he died, they made Tord a villain in the last episode, something I imagine Edd wouldn't do, as he certainly knew why Tord left But however, I imagine that Matt might be able to contact Tord one day and he will return, I really hope that happens.
I agree, but to add on, Tord mentioned in his goodbye video that his cartoon persona isn’t him, and that all he wants from it is to separate. I have a feeling even if Tord Larsson comes back in the picture, he still wouldn’t want to voice him due to the fact that he wants to be separate from the character. However, if I’m being completely honest, either the real Tord will consent but have no involvement whatsoever (including picking out a voice), because he’s made it clear he doesn’t what part in the franchise at ALL; or, he’ll flat out prefer if Tord didn’t come back (and maybe replaced as an alternative) for the same reason.

I take it you’ve never heard of Super Average? It was a show Tom and Edd were planning on making before he died that would’ve been set in the same universe as Eddsworld. The main villain of the show would have been the “Red Leader”, who would’ve obviously been Tord even though the show would’ve never actually revealed his true identity. Episodes like Fun Dead and The End were meant to be foreshadowing.

I don't know if this is too known, but with the whole red army thing, Edd had had an idea for making a story about the red army, and with tord actually in it. It was supposed to be way more information and telling the story of how they came to be, but sadly, Edd had passed away before being able to really do anything with the idea(I guess I don't really know, maybe he had finished it, maybe he didn't?). so im guessing the eddsword legacy team noticed this, and if anything, pulled tord from there, and put him in eddsworld legacy as a finale.

I mean, he did leave pretty early, they didn't have the original Tord, and they didn't have much to go off of other than him loving violence. I don't blame them, but I think this could've been handled better.
Tom actually said that Tord was planned to be a villain long before The End. He wanted to make a show called Super Average with a villain named Red Leader who would obviously be Tord, but never actually revealed to be him. So it wasn’t entirely out of nowhere as much as it wasn’t clued enough to the audience he would be a villain.
I have such mix feelings about The End, definitely when it comes to Tord. The worst thing is, you are correct, his voice actor, giving him a Russian accent, not doing a good job, and the voice actor being a horrible person in general. What also I don’t like about The End is how they made Tord a villain out of nowhere, where he’s been an morally-Grey character/anti villain. I also hate they made him a stereotypical communist. However, because of his personality change, it did give the fandom some things to theorize and head canon, and could be a cool building block of maybe giving Tord a good anti-hero arc. I feel like we didn’t get the whole story during The End, and maybe getting the story one day would be a great way to tell more with his character. It definitely made his character way more interesting. Tord is my favorite and personally I don’t really want him to be an antagonist, because he probably would be way more interesting to see him wanting to help the gang and being a part of the gang, but is struggling. There is SO MUCH potential in Beyond Tord. I just hope that Matt, if he brings him back, gives him justice.

The reason why Tord's characterization feels screwed up in the modern era of Eddsworld is really the same reason why Eddsworld itself feels screwed up nowadays, it's because Eddsworld is now effectively a brand. Eddsworld held a very special place because it was sort of a capsule of 2000s internet animator culture, the characters weren't really characters, they were just sort of designs that Edd would use to tell a story or tell a joke or to make unique visuals. And these animations were often collaborations with other animators, so you'd find Eddsworld and then realize how many other creators had done stuff with him, and you'd find little easter eggs in reference to other animators, if not outright cameos. I hate to be that guy that says the show can't go on without Edd, but he was the beating heart of Eddsworld and made it what it was with the friendships and creativity behind the show. I think the Matt series is going decently well, and Legacy was hit or miss, but their issue is that they look too much towards the past to understand what they're "allowed" to do with the series, which is because they see Eddsworld as a brand. Old Eddsworld was extremely messy, and that was another big piece of its charm, because anything could go, you might see a music video or a collection of shorts or they might introduce a new main character just to kill them off in the same episode. Eddsworld should be seen as a canvas to do interesting stuff with, like how it was when Edd was alive, not just animated online series #9001

Honestly it could’ve worked really well if Tord becoming a villain had more time to flesh out, and not 2 episodes. It wouldn’t be a TOTAL shocker if he was a sneaky character, I think it would complement the original character who was always the quieter out of the four. It could’ve been really cool, the delivery was just a bit off balance.
I remember that Tom said that there was one important detail that explained why Tord became a villain, but unfortunately it was never revealed. in the same video, Tom said that after the episode "the end" he abandoned the concept of the villain Tord, perhaps he should have been a villain in other episodes, and there he would have been revealed and shown why this happened. Recently watched a video that makes me wanna say something. Tord isn't out of character. (That much) Of course, there are some differences for the reason of entirely different writing teams but the idea with Tord in the end was that he didn't develop. Looking back at old Eddsworld episodes and comparing them to new ones you'll notice differences in characterization. Case and point, everyone hated each other to some degree. Tord isn't just this evil guy but he's always been completely fine with being violent and had shown more competence than the other characters. So as stated it's understandable how they'd come up with the idea of Tord being an antagonist. Is it perfect? Hell no, the team is very open that it wasn't, but I have a form of respect for the end and Eddsworld legacy as a whole, and while we all think it could've been better, I don’t think it's bad.

Another problem I have with the End is how they treated Edd's character Sure Edd can be a goofball along with Matt (But so can Tom as well) but they just made him so dumb in that special for no reason other than to serve the plot Plus Edd felt like a background character in that despite being the title main character It really felt like Tom's World than Edds world during the whole legacy era
while i do agree with you in certain aspects, i have to disagree with the last one. since edd died tom couldnt 100% copy edds humor and writing because theyre literally not the same person. saying that is kinda the reason why tom got so sick of eddsworld, he kept getting harrassed for "milking edds death for money" and "it not being the same". he literally only tried to put an end to eddsworld as a whole, "the end" was supposed to be the end. with that said, tom brought back tord to satistfy the fans who have been waiting all those years for him to return, and to write good plot there has to be a villain and a hero. tom made himself the hero, and since tom (the character) and tord dont get along he made tord the villain, so its obvious that edd and matt are gonna be more background-ish characters.
honestly i never really got the hype over tords character, admittedly because i started watching eddsworld around the time of wtfuture and hammer & fail so tord only really didn't make a strong impression beyond the old zombeh videos, though with the whole drama around legacy that was when i found out tord was harrassed off the internet by "fans" and constantly bugged about why he left eddsworld. personally with that added context i would say it was disrespectful to reintroduce his character in the series, even if the character isn't the guy himself, the constant harrassment that connection caused by people constantly making a stink about it, by caving to it as fan service kinda enables that behaviour, and obviously they didn't have contact with the guy to even ask permission to use his likeness again, especially in something which now he has a bad history with. even then writing wise the end was hacked apart due to being at the end of the budget when the whole of legacy had a tendancy of under projecting budgets, they really should scrapped and scaled back instead of cutting, like originally the end was supposed to be a 3 parter and the whole tom looking for a home was supposed to be the mid point, still wouldn't have fixed the core issue of edd being outshined by tom and tord in what was at the time the finale of his show, but beyond sorta fixes that issue in retrospect making it more of a sendoff to toms teniour as show runner. still don't like the end though, it's like the one eddsworld video i never bothered rewatching cause it's just so fucking cluttered. it really does feel like a stitch together of the highlights of multiple eddisodes with all the connecting scenes just gone.
I feel like the idea of Tord being a villain was cool, even when i first saw The End, but as mentioned, it just comes out of nowhere with no development. Like we only get somewhat hints with being a gun lover and into violence, the red leader bs yada yada, if they had more episodes with tord, it probably wouldve been received much better and maybe the idea of being the last antagonist aswell. Hopefully they bring him back, with the og va or not, but with a better developed character

(Sorry for bad English) I'm still leaning towards my theory. We don't know what happened to Tord the character after he left. Tragic events could have happened to him, causing him to not trust anyone, not even his “old friends.” And he wants to take over the world because he sees everyone around him as enemies after unknown events. At the end of "The End part 2" he realizes that he was wrong towards his friends and most likely regrets it. People can change too, don't forget. Sometimes sharply, sometimes slowly, but they change. Characters are not exception
It also seems to me that the Legacy team was so tired of this theme with Tord that they were ready to make him a disgusting antagonist with no motives, just so that the character would be hated and left alone forever. However, Tord was the antagonist back in WTFuture (referred to as “Red Leader”. There are many hints in both Classic and Legacy that it was him), so my point of view is not entirely correct in this regard

I feel like this guy never wanted to be perceived, o even TRIED to be an edgy character..like literally everyone in the show has acted mean toward each other before...even the "nice" ones... I never understood why people made a big deal about it.. He was in the first 3-4 years of the show where everyone especially acted edgy asf. At least that's how i see it. Other reasons that i can think about him being seen as extra edgy is the fact the he wore a completely black outfit at first, but then again the creator has said somewhere that he drew him like that because he was supposed to look like a character that also wore black, so that's the reason.

I have a theory that a long time ago Edd had already written that he would be a villain, in some older episodes we can see the characters commenting on the "red leader" and his official symbol (we can see it in WTFUTURE and make a movie) his appearance Paul too. Another theory is that after Edd's death, Tord returned to the series but as a voice actor because if we compare his voice we can see a lot of similarity, it's something I like to think about and it leaves me intrigued to know what this series will become.A while ago the eddsword team published a Tord animation on social media, so I think they will probably return to better explain the story and his path to becoming the red leader as it had a huge impact on the fandon.

The only way I can see why they made Tord a villain was because it was “hinted” I guess in WTFuture. In that episode Tom talks about the Red Leader for like 2 seconds. It probably could suggest Tord because of his iconic red hoodie but in reality it could be anyone. Although it’s such a large jump between his character as there wasn’t much to really make him a villain. I feel like they could’ve done something more meaningful I guess towards his character and Tords respected absence.
I like to pretend The End just doesn’t exist. I love Eddsworld, and it absolutely breaks me seeing how things ended with just…everything. I so badly wish things could’ve gone differently and that it could go back to the way it was in the day.

The problem with eddsworlds community is that noone is happy. We should be grateful that eddsworld still exists & they decided to bring back tord. This is the same reason why tord and tom left.
Also I think it would be cool if we see Tord’s tragic backstory and redemption in eddsworld beyond because when they brought him back in Legacy for two and turned him into a villain without any explanation and small amount of Easter eggs made me think Tord became a Mary sue 😒😒😅😅

I Think Tord Larsson is just another good example of a good thing becoming rotten over time because of problems occurring throughout the whole thing. It sucks too because the character had a lot of potential as for the Irl Tord Larsson it was sorta of a similar situation and it sucks because everything that I’ve seen and read he seem like a genuine decent person who just made mistakes along the line like any normal person would have hope he is doing good because the last official hearing about him was in 2016
