Welcome to my neck of the woods. I think 3.7 miles/kwh is pretty good for the temperature.
@ev6-joerg
@ev6-joerg 9 месяцев назад
To get best efficiency on cold days I drive the first kilometers without using the heat function, I only use heating the seat. Then after about three kilometers I turn on the heating function and the heat pump uses the heat of the warm motor immediately to make the car warm inside. With this method you will save energy because the preheater will not be used.

I just got my highest 100% charge 355 miles on the GOM with 4.1 miles per kW. It was 75 degrees in Phoenix yesterday and I used air and seats. I took freeway and back on 45 mph street stop and go. It is. Wind AWD 2022. Plus, I had three guys and three sets of golf clubs in trunk.

The road markings do have an effect on the lane guidance etc. plus the sun will have an effect with a wet road surfaces. This is we’re driverless cars are going to have problems and on the roads we’re we live they have patched the holes over we’re the white lines would be so renders the lane keep assistance all but useless at those points. I think an average 3.5 miles per kilowatt hour with those temperatures and motorway speeds isn’t to bad.good video thanks.

Sun glare definitely confuses auto steer. It did it in my Tesla as well. 3.7 and 3.4 in those temps is good. It is when temps drop below 40F that range drops to 2.8 to 3.2 depending upon speed, winds, road conditions, terrain and driving behavior. At least that has been my experience.

Great video again.always look forward to your videos when they appear. You obviously have mastered the operation and configuration of the entertainment screen that remains a partial mystery to me. If you’re ever stuck for a video idea - I’d love to see how you set it up with the car scanner etc. displayed as you had it at the start of your journey. The bong bonging you experienced drives me mad on journeys through areas that have had recent restrictions removed - which are quite common on the A9 and A90 in Scotland. I turn the warning bongs off to preserve my sanity. Anyhow - keep those videos coming and thanks again.

The RWD efficiency is much better than the AWD, I do regular 130mile motorway trips at a steady 70-72mph. In cold weather consumption drops to 2.8mi/kWh or less and range is usually 210-220, despite the front motor being off most of the time. I rarely dip below 70 and I always have passengers so the climate is on 19-20. There's one section of motorway where the autosteer always disengages and another dual carriageway where I have to disengage it because it gets confused and steers badly, otherwise I haven't noticed the sun thing. I've put some nano coating on the camera lenses and it does seems to help keep them from mucking up, I always wipe them before a long journey

Wait a second, 3d view of the vehicles? I didn't know it did this! Mind you, I hardly drive on the motorway, and come to think of it, don't usually have that view on. Nice feature to know, I'll test that tomorrow when I take mine into Kia to get the sway bar fixed (1700 miles old). It has a HORRIBLE offside front rattle, and the engineer suspects it's that, will find out on Friday if they finish it in the allotted 2 days they said it'd take to fix! Steering on mine currently feels awful, so sway bar does sound plausible.

Interesting video I have a Genesis Electrified G80, and just in case for bit of background although you may already be aware is the premium brand of Hyundai, a bit like Lexus to Toyota. Whilst the Electrified G80 is their big executive saloon with an 87.7kWh battery- about 83 usable (slightly over5 metres) and rivals the Mercedes EQE but like all HMG products is much better value for money, at 85k for my spec its still 10k less than the Mercedes! However my car shares not surprisingly shares a lot of tech with other Hyundai and Kia models, and to that end I can confirm your observations of the HDA2, in that if the road surface is 'shiny' as a result of rain and/or bright sunlight the camera struggles with seeing the white lines, I also find the lane change assist a little temperamental. Although no question the semi autonomous functionality makes driving so much easier, and with the change in UK law whether an OTA update will be carried out to allow for 'hands off, eyes on' for motorways. It would seem the car has all the hardware built in. With regard to the 'bongs' for excess speed or traffic cameras, I found a setting which silences the feature, it was from memory in the 'set up' options. However if you're listening to the stereo it will instead silence that for a second. This is essentially my first EV, and it replaced a Maserati Ghibli and prior to that some twenty years of Jaguar's, and I drive the Genesis as I would my previous car's in that I use the climate control and all the other features. Like you in mild weather I can get 3.5 or slightly more miles per kWh, however in the colder weather this drops to about 3.0. I would also mention my car has the Solar roof option, and this probably adds a few miles range if very sunny. In the fifteen or so months of ownership I have only covered less than 6,000 miles, so the car is used fairly infrequently and lives in my garage, tending to come out for longer journeys, and in the summer I drove to Versailles, and even on the higher speed Autoroutes (btw HDA2 works even better over there), i managed a range of 280 miles which was from 100 to just under 20% - i try not to go much below 20% for battery health, and probably over 90% of charging is slow charging from a 'Wallbox' home charger. I am in about a week doing the same drive to France, so it will be interesting to see the difference in the colder weather. Final point, and from a personal perspective I would add, I have never owned a car which attracts so much positive attention, with most people asking me if its some kind of Bentley! Not all that surprising given the design of the badge, and the Genesis styling chief was head of design for Bentley - I think he used a few ideas from his previous post!

Our HDA struggles with low bright sun and wet roads with a sheen. We have just switched to all season tyres (Michelin cross climate 2) the extra grip and stability seems worth it. The energy rating is B instead of A, but so far has had little impact on the range, however we will see with time. Currently the car is in the workshop with a mysterious 12v battery drain, that the technicians are struggling to find. This is the fourth week in the kia service centre. We have been in offline mode to prove it isn’t any apps, but still go to use the car finding a flat 12v battery after having been ok two hours earlier….

thanks Brian my MY23 Niro dose the same at 80% it drops to 2kW then after a few minutes/ a % SOC it goes up to 25kW. the Ioniq 5 dose the same as well. there is some say that the BMS is doing some checks no idea if that is the case. i don't think it is temp related as the duration is to short for the temp to change. Have you watched Bjorn video on charging losses, it may be a good video to show what the EV6 will do i suspect the EV6 will do the same my Niro which is the same as the kona. you have to make sure the min battery temp is

Hi Brian, as you are now regarded as the UK authority on EV6 software (you certainly know more than my dealer seems to), would you consider putting out an episode dedicated to an idiots guide to EV6 software. The sort of things to cover would be: a) where to find your current software release applied to the vehicle b) what is the current release that should be installed c) is software updating a dealer function, and if so is it chargeable d) if it is DIY, what are the pitfalls and how easy is it to screw the whole thing up e) anything else you feel would be useful to idiots or new owners. The main reason for this request is that my car has just been to my dealer of it's one year inspection as part of the 3 year Kia service plan, one item of which is "software updates". When I got the car back I was expecting the head unit to have been updated so that I could use full width Google map and battery conditioning, but the system still shows the software version as CV-E.EUR.55W-L.001.001.220428. On querying this, I was told that there were no updates applicable to my car. I know that you will have covered all this previously and if I dig back in the archive, I'm sure it will be there but I think a concise guide would be useful to many of us. Thanks in anticipation.....

Have you tried charging your EV6 on a Tesla V3 Supecharger yet? I was wondering what charging speeds it reaches in Europe vs the 97kws limits in America. Would love to see an Ev6 (or any E-GMP) charging video in the UK, or Europe in general.
@evodessey

Never charged at Tesla but i’ve heard the speeds are not very good. I don’t think Tesla chargers are in the charger database so that would prevent battery pre-conditioning. I will have to take a look into this.

I recently used Tesla chargers on my Niro, a very simple procedure (once you have the app) and considerably cheaper than the Ionity chargers alongside, 49p versus 79p.

There's a street near me which the Kia nav believes is one-way, so it keeps telling me off when I drive "the wrong way" up it. I can't find a way to tell Kia they have a map error - even when I did a live chat they didn't seem to be interested. All of which is to say, I'm not surprised they don't always keep their speed camera data bang up to date.

The auto steer feature depends only on that camera where the inside mirror is. Also it depends on contrast between street and lines. If lines are smudged or almost completely destroyed, the cam has no chance. Also when sunlight and water on the street reduce contrast between lines and street. Bad luck to us, we have no chance to see, what that camera up there produces 😒 Question for me: I wonder how you configured the AVN to display Car Play (CarScanner and Google Maps of course is split screen by the AI box) and that nifty charger overview - this display is not from AI Box. How did you split that up ?
@evodessey
@evodessey 9 месяцев назад
Turn the Carplay split screen back on in settings. The new charger screen is fresh from this months Infotainment update and is worth the update for that alone. It’s like having the old e-Niro 3 way split but better. EV6 screen size makes it more practical.

All EV6’s have a battery heater but not a heat pump. They are 2 different things. The Ioniq 5 is well known for certain trims missing a battery heater. The way to tell is in the EV settings screen. If it has Winter Mode setting then it has battery heater which means it can in theory be upgraded with the Battery pre-conditioning software update by your dealer.
