This video essay analyzes Eric Cartman's psychopathically manipulative and selfish behaviour in South Park. The character is created, written and directed by Trey Parker and Matt Stone and has been the star of over 26 Seasons of South Park (Comedy Central). If you want to understand how Eric Cartman inflicts his wicked will upon the world, then this video explains every dirty trick in the book, and how far he's willing to go to fulfil his selfish desires.

I think that one of Cartman's most evil moments were with the Super Nanny - finding her deepest fear and shame of not having children, and being coy asking about it, then battering her with a metaphorical hammer and changing his tone to the most sinister psycho that he is.

@azathoththe3rd
@azathoththe3rd 15 дней назад
That, in my opinion, is his scariest trait. He is hyper intelligent and can read people like books. But he only ever uses it to get what he wants. AKA getting his way. He'll happily dredge up the worst things imaginable from your past or psyche and use it against you for committing the aggredious sin of mildly inconveniencing him, being kinda in the way of his goals, or not giving him exactly what he wants.

Cartman becoming homeless is pure cope from both Matt, Trey and the audience. Cartman is far too intelligent and crafty to end up like that. You might not like it but 9/10 people like this succeed, usually at the expense of others
@technicallygood4620
@technicallygood4620 13 дней назад
Cartman is also delusional, and seems to think that he can get away with anything. As a kid, he has a lot more wiggle room, but as he grows older that more and more means burning bridges until he's out of options, which is why I think he's homeless.
@kastraliss12
@kastraliss12 11 дней назад
He is meant to be a trope, not an idol. That kind of narcissistic personality is sure to leave a person with no support circles, no friends, and ultimately no one they can rely on because they're inherently distrustful of others. Success at others' expense can get you what you want in the short term, but the cost of creating so many enemies along the way is a steep price which will leave you empty.

I think, in a way, Matt and Trey are toying with the 4th wall with Cartman. I think the whole town knows he's evil, but they are unable to stop it. As if they are being written in a tv show. But they can't fully break, so they don't understand why they keep letting him get away with it all.

The wild thing about Cartman is that at first glance you might say he’s incredibly chaotic… but the more you think about it every action has a plan and reaction behind it. I like South Park, but I absolutely DESPISE Cartman. He is a monster in every sense of the word, and even though he's often meant as a caricature, he never feels disingenuous to his massive yet impossibly fragile ego. He's cunning yet frighteningly stupid, thin-skinned yet overwhelmingly thick-headed, and just... ugh. He's the embodiment of every vice and sin anyone could ever have and a stand-in for all the reasons why good people get screwed over and over again by factors out of their control, namely human factors. Anywho, genius character. He doesn't just make me love to hate him, he makes me go right back around and hate to love hating him.

About the H.I.V episode, while i agree that cartman probably would be the one laughing if the roles were reversed, still don't change the fact that Kyle was pretty much being A hole too in this situation, as a wise man always said "a crime don't justify the other", even if Kyle still wanted to laugh about the situation, he could at LEAST go to somewhere in the school where probably nobody would hear him laughing or start doing it at his own house, but nope, he lower his level to what we expect from Cartman and everyone forgives him anyway, pretty much a case of double standards, even Butters and the other kids who were also victims of Cartman reacted in a more mature way to show you how much they are morally above regardless if it was the intention or not, but kyle reacted to this situation in the most jerk way possible, also he invaded Cartman's house and destroyed his stuff, which is a terrible crime as well, but considering we are talking about the most "moral" person in the show, people act like he did nothing wrong at all.
