F1 Manager 23 has made some changes to ERS in this year's game. In this video, I'm going to run through exactly how ERS works in F1 Manager 23, as it is certainly one of the more confusing parts of the game.
I'll touch on some important tips to really utilise your ERS to its fullest giving you a big advantage during races.

Thanks for these tips even tho i've played many saves never knew what the battle assist did. I tend to keep my drivers on normal maybe i'll use deploy a-bit more now.

thanks for this ive been leaving battle assist on from the start to finish, I'm new to F1 and F1 manager with only 2 ERS units, how do you manage them through the whole season I've got 10 races left and both units are around 45% on wear and tear

Main problem I have with ERS is I don´t like to pause the game constantly and so I do all my ERS, tyre and fuel decisions in real time. This way it´s not so easy to keep an eye on both drivers with the same attention. Even that i try to give them both the same attention I caught myself several times now more focussed on the driver who was in the better position which sometimes make my driver who is behind swear a lot because I missed to help him defend his position. What I didn´t knew was that the "battle assistent" makes your drivers slower when not in a fight. So far I always turned that assistent on right at the start and left it on since the end of the race.

I completely agree and often find myself doing the same. When focusing on a single driver, I try to leave the other driver in a neutral state so I don't fall into a hole at all. ERS battle assist won't use the ERS optimally when in clean air so I'd definitely recommend disabling it unless within a second or so of another car, either in front or behind.

@@SimRacingSetups So as long no driver is in my DRS I should leave it off right!? Short question: Is it possible to tell my driver to keep a short distance to the driver ahead? I play Williams and in some races I had the problem that Albon tried to overtake the car in front what makes them both slower but i wanted him to stay in DRS but not overtake which would have made a bigger gap to the car behind and could have been a benefit at a later point in the race. Especially when he is on mediums and the car in front is on more or less fresh softs it doesn´t make any sense to overtake because he will get caught the next lap or maybe even the next straight. Not only that it makes him slower in the long run it also decreases his confidence a lot.
