Thank you for this informative video, which included the death by cannon explosion of a Scottish monarch -- truly a unique end. One wee correction: Queen & *Saint* Margaret, wife of Malcolm Canmore, manifestly did *Not* die a suicide, as she was an ardently devout Roman Catholic who believed that suicide was a mortal sin. Sheer exhaustion & grief at the death of her husband might be a more likely explanation....

“Aforementioned” is an adjective, not a verb. You can’t “aforemention” something, or say “As aforementioned,” as an introductory clause to the main clause, “Kenneth was Scotland’s first monarch”. You would say “As previously mentioned, Kenneth was Scotland’s first monarch.” The only way to use “aforementioned” in that sentence would be, “Kenneth, the aforementioned first monarch of Scotland, reigned from…”

I commented on the English video before I found this one. You could have ended this by saying " and James VI becomes James I and his death is covered in the last video" just to keep continuity. I don't suppose you could do a video on the unification of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland? Quite like the bite size history lesson!

Malcolm III died at the Battle of Alnwick in 1093, we have a monument supposedly marking the spot where he died. Bamburgh is not far up the road from Alnwick so you were close on that. Spot on about his wife. 🙂

Bruce's ancestral lands were in the borders, not Aberdeenshire. Roxburgh, besieged by James II, was a Royal Burgh on the River Tweed, but its glory days as a centre of trade (wool and leather) with Europe, were long gone by this time. It had long been abandoned, due to changing hands so many times, and the capture of Berwick meant that it no longer had access to the sea and Europe. Not a bad video, but lacking in detail, and a bit off in places.

The last Monarch of Scotland was not Mary Queen of Scots, but Queen Anne, because until 1707, when Queen Anne enacted the Act of Union, the Kingdoms of England and Scotland were both ruled by the Monarch of England. Plus also you got Macbeth wrong, he wasn't succeeded by Malcom III, but his Stepson Lulach I, who succeeded Macbeth in 1057 when Macbeth was killed in single combat by Malcom III, when he ran him through with his Claymore against a rock.
