I work in a middle school and before that I worked in a high school for years, and can say that kids have definitely changed for the worse. The things I hear in the halls is actually crazy
This is why I hate that juvenile justice the drama was canceled. It showed how unjust the law system is! Really wish it was brought back. Rip to that poor souls and I wish nothing but some type of peace to the family
@@himaririku5289 I believe the views weren’t good but if they promoted it more I’m sure more people would’ve watched it. There’s still a lot of fans of the show
and nothing has changed in korea. at the beginning of this month a 15 year old middle schooler was arrested for kidnapping and assaulting a 40 year old woman who had been intoxicated. daring to commit this crime in the first place is appalling but it’s clear that he was so bold in his decisions that he took her to an elementary school that had cctv to assault her and took her phone with the rest of her belongings afterwards despite it being common knowledge that police are able to track phones, this shows how the consequences are not strong enough. the trauma and humiliation the victim must have felt during the crime and onwards is so upsetting. the details are horrible, so read at your own discretion. i haven’t found any follow up articles about whether he’ll face punishment, maybe it’s too early, but if minors can kill a person and not be punished even after fleeing the scene, i don’t think anything will happen to this middle schooler either. also, you were saying geon’s name correctly throughout the video. ‘건’(geon) has an ‘e’ added when romanised because another vowel in korean sounds similar to ‘ㅓ’(spelled ‘eo’ when romanised) and needs the two vowels need to be more distinguishable when written in roman letters. so ‘gon’ is more like the pronunciation of his name. lee geon, many of us did not know you personally but it’s clear how hardworking and loving you were to your family. i hope you are resting at peace without the pain you experienced that night.
my heart goes out to the victim, people need to give kids proper sentences and punishment for their crimes, i cant even believe anyone would let someone get away with murder no matter their age. i have witnessed a motorcycle car crash first hand and im still traumatized and get anxious whenever a motorcycle drives fast so this video made me feel really anxious. you never know how people are gonna drive, its truly scary. luckily the person who i saw is okay now but they did get a lot of serious injuries. i hope you rest in peace lee geon, without any of the pain you felt that night.
I think it’s more about the youth lashing out because the adults in the world are hurting them… they should still be held accountable for their actions don’t get me wrong here… like those kids should be sentenced to prison for murder… but let’s talk about what parents are doing at home to help keep their kids out of situations like this… what steps are they taking to educate their children about the world… and if they are… what are they telling the small humans? Let’s start fixing our 💩 It starts at home…….
This is true, that did slip my mind due to y’know what was being told but yes you are right it does start at home, let’s hope the tides change in the future. HOPEFULLY
Leta also remember a lot of times people are just evil. I've seen a lot of times parents trying to have a healthy family or even fix things if there is something wrong and some even getting killed for it. These kids are just evil sometimes but I do agree 1000%. A lot of times it is the parents but also on the flip side it isn't sometimes
@@Lowkeylena they learn it from their parents….. or they learn it from someone their parents or family lets into their lives that harm them… kids are not evil…. People teach them to be evil…. Education is key! Kids are not evil!!! The people who harm them are!!!!
@@supervillainnova8352 I do agree that yes most children learn from the people around them…mainly the adults in their lives, but there are just some that are straight up evil through and through without any real reason to be.
It is interesting watching this episode because this just happened here in America. I watch every Rotten Mango podcast as soon as they come out, so I have heard this story. Listening to this now, sucks because it just happened here. On August 14th, in Las Vegas, an 18- and 16-year-old went on a hit and run spree. Their final hit and run was a 64-year-old riding his bike in the bike lane when they purposefully swerved to hit him. That man was a retired California police chief. The two teens were dumb, but luckily for us, and filmed themselves hitting this man and laughing. One of the teens talked to police from the back of the cruiser while he was in handcuffs and said that it's not that serious. Then he said "I'll be out in 30 days. Watch, I'll bet you."
as a law students learning about the law and how judges judge cases, sometimes these judges can't even hold their head high in front of the victims family cause they can't do anything with the law. the only body that can change the law or make a new law is the legislative body. i know there's some checks & balances, but still the legislative bodies have the rights to make new law. I interview one judge in juvenile cases, he said 2 days after of the final decisions he came to the victim's house and ask for forgiveness because he can't do anything about it.
Nah I’m telling you it’s a pain being in this generation, the things I hear walking down the halls, the stuff done inside classrooms. Its so disheartening to think we would be the future.I feel so bad for teachers and adults that deal with them. One of the negative highlights of my day today was someone talking about raping a dog and a student killing a little bird inside her bag.Its really unimaginable on how someone this young or anyone in general could do this sorta stuff
Its sad to say its probably going to take something horrific happening for the people over there so say enough is enough. I dnt knw its just extreme wickedness at an all time high
I have rewatched all the rotten mango/ missmangobutt video reaction from you at least 4 times per video now lol. 😅 I would love a new one to repeatedly watch aha. I broke my broke my arm in 3 places and will probably need surgery so looking forwards to some of your videos. 💖
What there should be to count what you have done and punish you at your legal age. So those sh*ts wouldn't even dare to do so cause when they hit the legal age. They would be taken to jail immediately .
this is one reason my mom always looks both ways when driving before even starting to go and it's like an open intersection where someone could come flying through. she got t-boned once. was okay. but it was a 4-way stopsign and the dude just ran right into her and my dad. from then on she just does a double check of both sides to be sure.
I don’t think kids have changed for the worse. I think they have simply changed. Everyone always talks about “It takes a village to raise a child.” Well the internet is that village. (Who makes up that village is put to the parents) Younger kids look older now because they have beauty influences to teach them how to properly care for their skin, their hair type, and their clothes. Their trial and error phase of figuring out their own style looks a lot more polished because they learn from influencers’ mistakes. I don’t think that’s a bad thing, sexualizing them just because they groom themselves well is the issue there. Younger kids know more and act on that knowledge younger because they have access to the information through the internet. It’s not bad. It’s just not what we’re used to. That being said, criminal behavior always has these 3components: Motive, Means, and Reasoning. Motive: something that prompts an active response. Means: the times and tools to insect that response. Reasoning: the thought process or lack there of that overcomes a human’s natural inhibitions (empathy, sympathy, fear of getting caught/punishment). Most people have Motive and Reasoning first and then search out Means. These kids’ had Reasoning first. They reasoned that they wouldn’t get in trouble so it’s not like it really mattered. That reasoning became Motive; “Let’s see if we can really do whatever we want.” The means followed haphazardly afterwards with little to no thought.
In my country, 13 is the age of punishment; however, there is something such as if the crime is heavy, which means murder, etc, the person punished would be a legal guardian, usually a parent. There is no possibility to let it go unpunished.
In my country, those teens won’t get out easily or freely. I remembered when my brother got involved with his bad friends behaviour who stole money from mosque tubes. My brother just arrived there and his friend drag him out to run together, end up he got brought to police station on that same day. He was 14/15 at that time with no clue what just happened, he got beaten up in the investigation room like real beat as if he was adult. All of his experience left me traumatised until i have the mindset that i need to behave and don’t involve with any crime🥲 Ps: excuse with my bad grammar😌
I don’t know if maybe any other countries are like this but where I’m from in Mpumalanga (South Africa) my dad usually passes a red light at night to avoid getting robbed but he usually slows down and waits a few seconds before he drives past it. (9:53)
Oof... This case... Sadly, I dont think things have changed even now. I can imagine thats why bullying goes to the length it goes in Korea, like these teenagers really just got away with it and actively did these crimes cuz they know the law is in their favor.
Juvie law in Indonesia is also really weak too. There are so many underage gang fights here and sometimes people got killed. If caught their face and names would be censored too, but not the victims. Imo, juvur law could only implemented if the crime is light, like stealing for less than 3 times with low nominal, cheating on exam, iykwim. But bodily harm like this is not something a child should do.
The age of criminal responsibility in my country is 14, but the catch is, your parents get in trouble. Your actions are not punishable by law, but they *are* punishable by your mom's fury after she has to pay a big ass fine
Seb, I think you had the vid on a higher speed than normal... I just know rotten mango never talks this fast and Ive seen the original vid before too LOL idk maybe its just me
@@ashley-or7zp ahh I see, glad I wasn't just going crazy lol I don't think she talks slow, I think she just pauses a lot for dramatic effect and its just her way of storytelling
Many states in the US have laws where if a child under the age of criminal responsibility commits a crime , the parents are legally punished instead. I think up to a year in jail in some cases, for failure to parent . It really seems South Korea needs a law like that.
But what happens to the kids who are at fault? I don't think the kids would improve or feel anything when their parents go to jail. They will not care at all, just like they didn't care about the victim.
@@L.-I. if the parents had to face consequences when their kids do criminal shit they would actually punish their kids. Because obviously part of the problem is that these kids parents don't actually care either there's no way they punish their kids with any sort of severity. But if it fits them in the pocketbook, if an inconvenience to the parents because they went to jail and now everyone knows that they are the ones who are being shit ass parents, then they're going to take it a lot more serious.
@@elizaRose8900 I can see it is some kind of wake up call for the parents who have neglected their duties as parents, but if they're in jail what happens to the kids?
@@L.-I.I find it unlikely that both parents would be sentenced to jail time they would probably give jail time to whichever parent they deem as most responsible. If they sent both parents to jail they would probably house the kids with grandparents some sort of family if possible. I have no clue what the Korean foster care system is like so I'm not going to say that these kids could do with the reality check of foster care for a year. I mean it would definitely make them appreciate hopefully what they have and make them re-evaluate everything but I've heard enough horror stories about foster care in the US to not really feel comfortable saying that they deserve foster care.
If the Juvenile justice system in Korea is this messed where the Legal age for them to get punished is 14+ then at least if a kid that's younger than that commits a crime it should be that when they turn the legal age they should be arrested and punished for their crimes then so they at least get punished at all.
Honestly at that age they should be held responsible for what they did it’s not like they didn’t know what they were doing they pretty much admitted to everything
this is why i despised government that has ties with UN's Human Rights organization they are soft as hell and im glad in Philippines finally do the law to arresting 13-15 years old if they do crime....all thanks to former President Rodrigo Duterte even his out of control war on drugs(still justify)
54:23 biblically speaking god WOULD forgive him. The Bible says god forgives ANY sin, any sin other than blasphemy against him.. so you can be a whole serial killer or pedophile and god will forgive you. But if you “commit blasphemy” you will be going to hell no matter what
Bro in my country ı saw a News and the girls were 9 years old and they were in primary school like they r literally children and one of the girl killed her other friend with rope I guess in the school bathroom cuz her friend laughed at her grade bro 💀 they were 9 and she just laughed 🤡
In Germany there was a case where two 12 year olds literally killed their classmate and searched up if they where going to be punished properly (in Germany the law is the same as in south korea that you have to 14)
@@lia.niuu06 bro in my country actually bullying is just too much and the bullying style is just crazy I know a lot of people who killed by their classmates just for fun I mean this is just crazy and even when I was in middle school i was also being bullied and those years r the worst years of my life and yeah in Turkey it’s same u must be 14 to be punished but if u give money who cares about the laws 🤡
