Gabriel my mind ran on you once the terrible conflicts started in Israel recalling your journey to the region a few months ago. It just shows us all we walk by faith & fate be careful out there.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos That's right you were.. Yes so sad what's occurring over there. My wife was concerned for your safety praying your OK. We enjoy your work so very much.
Hi Gabe, just thought I’d mention, because you were walking past it, I stayed right there in Sept. /23 at the London School of Economics and Political Science, (brick building to the right at the beginning of your video). In the summer, when the school is not being used for students, they rent dorm rooms that include a fabulous breakfast for about $75 Canadian ( In GBP the price would be 60% less). In the breakfast room there is bread, fruit, yogurts and cold cuts & cheese etc. that they allow you to take with you either for a snack for later in your room or a picnic lunch through the day. The residence has great security at night and the front desk is so helpful. The location is fabulous for sight seeing (right in the heart of London and safe area. I had a view of the shard from my window). You can’t beat that price for very expensive Central London for the budget traveller. Love traveling with you Gabe, your videos are so well done.
This video should be called 'how expensive is the tourist area of London'. If you stay in the outskirts and eat there you'll save a lot of money. Also, if you're on a budget there's loads of free things to do - museums, art galleries, walking around (London is totally walkable and there are free walking tours), markets etc
For me, being near the center of a city or at least in a particularly interesting neighborhood is preferable, though sometimes I'll stay somewhere that's cheaper and a little out of the way. But ideally I want to walk out of wherever I'm staying and find good restaurants, pubs, the main square, etc. within a fairly short walk, rather than being a long ways from the sights and having to take buses or metros a ways to get there and then again to go back to the hotel. So it's worth paying more for a central location. There are lots of ways to save money traveling and yes, location is a factor.
We had the pleasure of visiting London for 2 weeks . We stayed with a friend and we had a wonderful time. I think London is one of my favourite Cities. Our friend visited us in Canada for 2 weeks and we showed him wonderful British Colombia .
Glad you finally made it from the depths of the north Essex countryside to the bustling metropolis of London. Felt kind of exhausted for you just watching this one!
We were there earlier last month for our TV show and I'm loving it! It's a place where you can wander from historic castles to modern skyscrapers in the blink of an eye, and the locals will give you directions with so much politeness that you'll forget you were even lost. I am now in Ireland. I guess, I would see you there, too!
I watch a lot of English You Tubers eating Full English Breakfasts at various restaurants and pubs and that breakfast Gabe had was too expensive, even for London. I guess the price was that high because it was in a tourist area. You should have had two sausages not one for that price.
It's always cool to see the episodes where you switch destinations. Let the guessing begin! I'm hoping to see you head for Namibia and/or South Africa soon. Or some new wilderness adventures. Will definitely keep watching in any case. Peace!
Lovely little snippets of London, Gabriel. I love the London Bridge area; the bridge is definitely nothing to write home about 😊🥁🙏🎺 great shot of you, with Mr Shakespeare 😊☀️🍁🌛
My tip as a Brit - stay away from central London if you are on a budget! But I get if you are only passing through it makes more sense to be located there. Makes my heart cry spending that much money though 💰🤑 There are some amazing cities around the Uk - Cardiff where I am based, has loads of parks and nature spaces, but also has all the great city vibes. I came here 4 years ago during the pandemic and loved it so much I stayed. Also A full English breakfast is usually served all day in any good pub - It’s the one thing we do well, why waste it for breakfast alone! 😂
Go to Greenwich by river boat from London Bridge or Bankside (where you approached the bridge just before the mural of Shakespeare). It takes about 40 minutes and you can stand with your feet in two hemispheres. The Anchor is rumoured to be the oldest pub in London and the Clink one of the oldest jails.
Yes I am so grateful I have good shops , and transport so close to me. Veg restaurant in town if I want . I get to the sea side and Countryside. But the shops are so far from a bus stop. So far from each other . So I stay in London to have my home.
hello gabriel! thanks for your videos ,enjoy watching. you seem to be one step ahead of things, etc wild fires just after you left greece, and just missed this conflict in the middle east just after you left, stay safe my friend
You don't need an oyster card, Gabriel. Just tap the same debit or credit card all day for multiple trips on bus, tube or DLR and there's only a max daily fee for around £6.00. Very cheap way to get around London with minimal stress. Just use the same card though 👍
@GabrielTravelerVideos Yes, just tap and go, it's a very cost effective way of travelling around London with a daily cap on the charge too. So you always know its not going to cost more than £6.60 I think it is now. As long as you use the same card throughout. Lee
You have price cap on the underground if you use it a few times in a day in zones 1&2 i think its about 12-14 pounds and then once you hit that amount they won't charge you anymore no matter how much you use it providing you dont use a different card maybe slightly cheaper on a weekend or off peak bit of advice for potential travelers 👍
I know it's a bit late now but you could have gone to Wetherspoons for a nice meal which includes beer or a cider for £13.00. I understand where you are coming from and you are on a tight schedule. Great video as usual, thanks so much Gabriel I've been following you for years.
If he was given a dollar for every could have/should have gone to xyz place comment on his videos he could give up RU-vid today and live comfortably from funds earned from comments such as yours. Let the guy enjoy things his way.
Yes but the comment is not for Gabriel really, but for other would be visitors to London who are subscribers to his channel. If you ever go to London, you will now also know about the Wetherspoons pub chain. @@lanamortenson8694
Stansted Airport is around 50 miles from central London and is in the county of Essex. Always book ahead on Trains and National Express buses as they will be much cheaper
You should do a follow up on how it went sleeping in that hostel. I’m too old for hostels, I need my privacy and peace/quiet. So I’m curious if it got rowdy late at night?
It more or less did the trick, but I was happy to check out. Miraculously I never heard any snoring but instead someone had a persistent cough the entire time I was there. No plans to stay in a hostel again anytime soon.
I like getting a private room in a hostel because you get to meet other travellers, particularly if there is a pub or lounge. But not the little capsules, that looked very small and hard to get in and out of. Good price though.
@@Originalman144 Those sleeping capsules look just like the mausoleum niches for caskets in cemeteries that I view on You Tube. I don't know how a plump person would fit into one of those niches, especially the top bunks.
Yo Gabriel the last 2 London vides are spot on its what we want to see the area of the town and city food prices etc Great stuff a Lot more interesting than walking barren clifftops 👍👍🏴🏴❤️❤️🙏🙏
Have to be very careful of random road trips in South America. If you go down the wrong road you could end up at a drug plantation and disappear! Need to know where you are going in many of these countries or stick relatively close to civilization.
Hi Gabriel, Nice city walking tour a change of pace from staying in those rooms in other countries London has that expensive factor that has you staying back in hostels which hasn't happened in a long while. Being that London isn't part of the EU, the Schengen Zone allows you to stay around Europe until you plan out where you want to travel next. A strange traveling dilemma where to go next and enjoy the time there.
A video of him climbing into that narrow and low capsule would be so funny. It would get a lot of views. How unreasonable of that hostel to expect people to climb into those things.
"Gabe Visits Mural of Famous Brother in London." Cool headline. Regarding St. Pancras Station, it's where you board the Eurostar train for the chunnel crossing to Paris.
Gabriel, Wow, your bunk bed was like sleeping on a shelf , wasn’t it ? You are not small , so it seems like your shoulders would touch each side of the wall 😂
Clink Street is also the location for the final alleyway scene in American Werewolf In London, the white doorway you looked at from Bills window can be seen when the cops start firing
Nice video. Makes me laugh that two airports call themselves London but they are in another County (State). London Stansted is in fact in Essex. London Gatwick is in fact in Sussex.
A county isn't equivalent to a state, in various ways. The US doesn't really have the equivalent thing. Imagine each state was further divided into 20 different county areas, then this would be of a relation in geographical terms. Going from Stansted airport to London city centre is not like crossing a state.
Gatwick is quite far away but the train is fast and frequent. Some only take 30mins. That's pretty rapid compared to many other capital cities airports which are closer..
If you get a debit card like Monzo or similar that you can use internationally without additional charges, do NOT bother with getting an Oyster card. It’s not necessary and it’s cheaper to just use a bank card. And in almost all shops you can use a card, rather than cash. I cannot remember the last time I used cash in London. And if you want to eat a good breakfast, leave the London Bridge area first. Go somewhere with fewer (or no) tourists.
Bro this video kinda takes me back to the days where you were staying in hostels and hiking 🥾 it before the luxury hotels and car rentals 😂classic Gabrial Traveler 👍all you need is a GoPro hero 3
St. Pancras Station is where the Eurostar trains from London to Paris, Amsterdam and Brussels depart from. I'm confused as to why you walked all the way from Victoria Station to London Bridge and then took a tube to St. Pancras? A direct walk from Victoria to St. Pancras would have been shorter and quicker. If you arrive in Stansted airport next time, Stratford would be the best place to stay or arrive in London. It's in east London and only 20 minutes away by tube from Central London. There is a direct bus from Stansted Airport to Stratford for £12 and it only takes 50 minutes. Stratford is comparatively a cheaer place to stay than Central London.
I lived/worked in London for 12 years - now I live about 40 miles further away. Seeing your video reminds me why I think it is such an overrated place to visit. The cost, the experience - and even the things that you like - Cabs, Telephone boxes and double decker buses - they are like a 5 minute wonders. The rest is over-priced out of date garbage. It's also big and spread out - everything is tiring. Everything is grey and flat. So sorry you're having to experience this Gabriel!
Gabe, I hope you start a new series going through Africa…. so much to explore… most vloggers are stuck for months and years in Aisa, India, pakistan… Desi Chris, Luke D, Harald B… its all been seen… cheap but not new any more…the Dark Continent is waiting… Kenya, Madagaskar, Namibia, Congo… you are a very skilled traveler….. Go four it… it will change your life….
I somewhat agree but I think there's always more to see of those places and many different travel styles that give many different perspectives. Re. Africa, Harald B did an amazing series in Tanzania, but at the moment Kino Yves is my favourite vlogger in Africa. Well worth checking out! ✌
@@rudolphteperberry3888 thanks for the Tip… yes I loved watching Harald… the turn off was he disappeared for a year and never spoke about it… which still doesn’t sit with me well…
@@stillesorrow I respected how he disappeared after that. It seemed kinda like he had a spiritual awakening of some sort after his time in Africa and needed time away from social media to contemplate life 😅 Maybe I'm reading too much into it.
I remembered my Enhlish Breakfast at one corner of Heathrow Airport after checking in, it was so good because the bangers was vegetarian rolled sausage, with the usuals besns, tomato, scrambled eggs, toasts. Oyster card only works in the vicinity of London. St. Pancras Station is just near Tower of London. Airport's rate is very low, to withdraw by ATM is also a rip-off, even in exchange bureaus. So I just bring the local currency cash so I don't need to withdraw.
Thanks to your persistent warnings regarding the currency conversion scam at ATMs, during our recent trip to Italy whenever we withdrew cash at an ATM, we thought about you! 🙂 Thanks for the tip Gabe!
Wow! £19.50 for a brunch breakfast. Thank goodness I live in the North where the same meal costs £8 including a mug of tea. Always look out for tourist and office worker-free areas when looking for a full English breakfast café. Office workers eat foreign muck such as avocado for breakfast 😢
Belfast has been getting a load of international tourists for the last 7 years and the establishments in the town centre are now chargining prices that are even more expensive than london.
In CENTRAL LONDON to keep the cost down eat at places like the Pizza Hut in the Strand or any Weatherspoon branded pub as these places trend to give you large portions & charge a normal non tourist type price. Other districts in central London have many close together cafes, serving food at reasonable prices as they compete with each other for your custom, one has to route them out. Always sleep outside CENTRAL London in one of the surrounding towns that makes up GREATER London such as Tolworth etc. Don't breakfast at the hotel you sleep at, eat in one of the town's local cafes. Use the red buses or the tube to journey to LONDON city centre when you have satisfied your hunger with a filling meal.
Jesus christ never eat at pizza hut or Weatherspoon's! Just go to a market, get some simple stuff or a small independent place. Of which there are many in central London.
Jesus, $58 a night for a human kennel. July 2022 it cost $200 a night to stay in cramped Days inn in London that was the size of a large closet. Stayed 4 nights. Luckily I had some travel points to cut the price down. But London prices are just insane.
