Its insane how many players come out of of the academy and perform on the highest level at a young age. There are just to many right now to name everyone and maybe there will come even more this year, who knows. Casadó for example came out of nowhere suddenly
Honestly i have been absolutely impressed by casado's performance, my only fear is, when the likes of frankie, gavi or even bernal get back to full fitness, he might see less game time. Definately has the quality to walk into this manchester united team and start
@@abasionohezekiah5187 Nah frenkie is not a ball winner like casado nor a natural 6 gavi though is an interesting case we'll see how flick manages them
And to think 6 players out of 11 starting against Bayern came directly from La Masia... this might actually be the real rebirth of Barcelona after 10 years. It's unbelievable how Flick transformed this team in just some months, it almost seems like they played this way since a decade.
Not to take anything away from flick , this Barça team won the league a season before. They had all the qualities but their key youngsters were sidelined most of last season . Casado integrated as well. Pedri, Dejong , Gavi ,Balde , even Raphina had been sidelined , Xavi didn't have much options. But Flick clearly improved the team on a perfomance level with the high defensive line and more direct football at times.
Yeah Barca should be pouring most of their resources into La Masia instead of wasting money trying to outspend Madrid. La Masia produced greats like Messi, Fabregas, Xavi, Iniesta etc. Investing in the academy is the only way they can compete with Madrid
I’ve been learning so much from this guy I’m able to read tactics, and change in shapes depending on situations rather than focusing only on the ball getting into the net and me fussing or peaking over it
I would like to mention the indvidiual ability of Barcelona's players, as that was one of the main reasons Barça eventually figured out the Press. Casado and Pedri were both excellent in taking 2 or 3 touches even under the pressure and slowing the tempo and beat their man, which goes along way aganist a m2m system.
I think Barca did exceptionally well I remember saying someway or the other leaving Minjae and Upa in 1 v 1 duels will always be dangerous we saw with Marmoush in Frankfurt and now with Barcelona. No point in dominant possession to lose 4-1 in the end. Not moved at all by Bayern this season unless they have defensive stability
At the end of the day, the difference was that one side had competent wingers who actually managed to score and successfully complete runs while Bayern have a huge issue with inconsistent wingers.
I think barca team technical ability won the match... Byren when pressed went back.... While barca sometime went back other time escaped pressure to progress the play.... Barca players were better in tight spaces and situations.... Musliala was good in tight situations but still below even kounde.... Barca players was also more fluid in their movements and rotations...
The Barca midfield absolutely DOMINATED Bayern. Pedri, Casado & Fermin absolutely killed any impact the Bayern midfield to have. All three of them are just amazing players!
For me I think Kompany got his tactics largely right, but it exposed his CBs in individual matchups and for me I think his FBs didn't exploit Barca's high press. In essence, he knows what to do tactically but his players are going to be let downs until he adjusts or trains them for such situations. I score him a 4, Flick 6.
His tactics were very very good It allowed Bayern to break free of the press of barca on countless occasions…. The issue for this massive score line falls on the players…. Wingers failing to take on their men, fullbacks failing to exploit much space to use or afraid to do so because they are wary of the threat behind them, centre backs being slow to adjust themselves well and neur being bad in stopping shots…. All in all, the results show a massive gap in score line but the performances were balanced and even…. Barca just had better players in ball carrying, ball distribution and making runs in behind the defense
Fantastic breakdown mate! The main Bayern player I was looking at was Kimmich and I wasn't sure where he was playing and your analysis was spot on! The cuts between your templates and actual game was as smooth as Casado's switch to Raphinha and really helped understand stuff! New sub here! Keep up the great work and looking forward to your future content (esp Barca 😉)
Machine? This is no longer the Bayern of before, led by coaches like Van Gaal, Heynckes, Guardiola, Ancelotti, etc. That was a real machine. Not this team that has a hard time coming back against a team like Villarreal. This Bayern is predictable, they play to feel "worthy" because they played aesthetically "pretty" football, and they got stuck in that boring possession game that affects Upamecano and Minjae, they are not versatile, they do not know how to give false hope to the rival to counterattack and they believe that they will win every game 8-2. Tuchel was implementing new things in the defensive system, but the poor quality in defense made him fail.
You can see Pena was not taking any risk at the back.... Or making dangerous passes at the back instead he cleared the ball to Lewandowski or fermin...... If it was terstegen he would have played risky passes.. And that would have cost us.. He need to fix that.... Very important
I disagree, because of that we could not retain possession most times he cleared it, inviting Bayern to continue their press. Ter Stegen's good passes can help us get the ball immediately into midfield or against teams with a high line, create immediate chances with through balls over. We've seen this lots of times with Ter Stegen getting an assist. Occassionally you get miscommunication errors like with Eric Garcia this season of course but just like playing a high line, it's high risk and high reward.
Both of the 1st goals would have been offside if it wasn't for our defence, I STILL dont get why our management sold De Ligt, he would fit perfectly here
That match yesterday was a double gamble from both sides with both coaches knowing what the other would have prepared for his team and Barca won it due more confidence on their strengths. Interesting also, that Flick is a comparable similar situation with young talents from La Masia like Pep 16 years ago. We don't know, if Xavi overloaded these young players with tactical duties, the way how Flick communicates his ideas is different, maybe they have a more liberated feeling on the ball?
Feel like a lot of bayern’s shortcomings could theoretically be fixed with different players in the same roles. Just kimmich playing as the rightback would do wonders. Palinha imo is more than equipped to be the lone 6, especially with his physicality probably more suited to that dual role they intended. Guerreriro as the other 6 seems like a natural progression as well. Weird decisions
As a bayern fan I appreciate this video but all four goals were not that hard to be saved and neure passed his prime we should not let him in starting 11 anymore
Yeah I thought Barca’s HIGH LINE 4 LYF MATE defence in the first half was too suicidal. I think Barca were lucky that Bayern couldn’t convert a number of good positions or opportunities that they were creating with the space in behind. Most of the first half looked like Bayern having most of the ball and creating the most chances despite conceding very early. But Barca really capitalised on a few chances that fell their way. In the end it was a good CL match with two high quality teams showing their prowess. Always good to see the class on the ball. This is the difference of the CL and why we enjoy watching it.
Barca didn’t have a few chances mate…. Barcelona was the most dominant and had the most chances….. get your facts right BARCELONA DOMINATED BAYERN… and the XG and scoreline proves that
ter Stegen was not playing and especially Upa is great with long balls. Kimmich is a very versatile player, but his creativity is best when in higher zones, not building up from the back
What's still very astonishing for me is that he's using mostly (literally) children to play like this. It's incredible to watch. Bayern we're all over the place in the second half, didn't know what to do!
Iam okay with Kompany's tactics, he is still learning and lets be honest, he is very very inexperienced. With time, i hope he will become a great, tactical mastermind. The issue in this game was the Bayern wingers(Mainly Gnabry), the GK(Neuer), the RB(Guerreiro forced to play there because of both Boey and Stanisic injured), the CBs mainly Kim Min Jae(He lost his Napoli form somewhere in his way to Munich) the Midfield, Kimmich and Palhina. I just dont understand why Palhinha was not played as a 6... He was constantly moving forward and acting like a CAM... No, Kompany... Palhinha is a freakin CDM... Kimmich is more like a CAM but not really he is a playmaker CDM... Like a box-to-box... And maan Gnabry is washed. He is finito... Why Bayern not playing Tel instead, one of the better talents they got and he is just warming the bench... Like come on Kompany. 4 games, 4 very very bad Gnabry forms... Time to think about benching Gnabry and playing Tel. Perfect time to give him minutes now, because the next 3 Bayern games are against weaker sides. Absolutely perfect time to integrate Tel into the team, and please, its time to forget Neuer... Every shot on target is a goal, it feels like Bayern are playing without a goalkeeper xD Nahh, PERFECT time once again, to integrate Peretz into the team... Bundesliga game against Bochum, cupgame against Mainz and Bundesliga game against Union Berlin. The best time EVER for Kompany to start to integrate players. Tel, Peretz, Ito(He is very close to getting 100% fit), iam pretty sure Ito is better than Kim Min Jae at this point. Ito early season form was good against FC Duren. But he broke his leg unfortunately. Anyways, i was watching that game and Ito was class. Straight up better than Kim or Upa. Its time for Kompany to think about changing the things up, pressure mounting, Bayern are actually worse than last season under Tuchel, time to change the things up, or... Yeah he is not going to survive till January, and the coach problems will begin again... Its a SHAME. Bayern did not had a long lasting coach since i dont even remember... This club man, with this board is a joke. Shame on them. This is what we saw is not FC Bayern level... Felt like iam watching a Championship team. It literally felt like that.
Barcelona dominated the game. However, I think that if Bayern played Sané rather than Olise it would've worried Barcelona's defence much more as Sané does have the pace to counter that high line. Overall though Barcelona deserved the win.
How unlucky is Ter Stegen. I think he is traumatized by Neuer. He got long time injury right after Neuer retired from international football and couldn't even be part of this game to beat the man(Neuer) who ruined his international career.
Short version: Barcelona pressed extremely high all game because they know Kane is fat old and lazy incapable of running behind the defence so counters are impossible... against a team with real strikers like Vini or Mbappe they will play differently
Barcelona have played with a high line like this in every single match this season and I don't see them changing it considering how effective their offside trap is and especially not after this win against Bayern.
Tbf Kompany had the team totally wrong from the start. Kimmich midfield gimmick, playing 42 pace Kane AND Muller vs that high line, left footed LB at RB, no Sane or Musiala, couldn’t get Davies in the game (tbf that brudda is pants). Kompany is still a championship level manager
After a record of 9-2 and an aggregate of 23-11 its about time Barca stop getting bullied. Didnt Bayern get 4 clean sheets in a row after that 8-2? Its like some people dont understand football. Its impossible to win every single match forever.
This is what I saw Bayern leaving Coman and Sane out they gave Barcelona all the ammunition since no one outside Gnabry could run. Davies was too far back to do anything. Bayern had possession to cause damage but they put a wrong front line and credit to Barcelona for taking advantage and destroy Bayern.
"Bayern Machine", this is the Bayern team who is sacking every year a coach, not stable, having huge problems to lure players so they have to dig into turkish league for players like Boey because no one wants to join them. Still not replaced Upamecano, Guerreiro playing as a right back. Bayern is downgrading year by year. The board doesn't make it an easy life for coaches, they don't want to buy players but sell them to make income (De Ligt, Mazraoui, Pavard, Hernandez). Bayern at this pace will be the second Juventus, only a coach like Xabi Alonso, who can bring big names and have the stability of the defense and attack could bring Bayern back to top 3 teams in europe, right now Bayern is not even in top 4 in europe, lets be honest. On top of that Muller and Neuer are not getting younger, Goretzka is so bad hes benched, Davies will go for free to Real Madrid, Kimmich might go for free to Barca. But anyways Mia San Mia, will be always there, watching no matter if we play bundesliga 2 or champions league final
Either way congrats to Flick, tactically he destroyed Kompany. He knew he will play with Gnabry and Olise (two slow wingers) so he could apply the high defensive line and apply high pressing, against Real Madrid he will probably change his tactical approach
bro even worst bayern won last year almost cl, even if some things go wrong theyre always a mentality machine. yeah yesterday was shit but they wont give up and gonna be strong like always
They had 4 shots and scored 4 goals, 99.9% of games they would'nt have done that. Bit of a fluke, Kompany took too long to recognise and adapt though to how they were being exploited
It was no fluke in 99.9 games none of the teams would press Barça that high , almost suicidal against players like Raphina and Yamal😂 Raphina one one one with Keeper in all of the goals , and Neur himself fell for the press one time , playing out from the back, lucky him. After Olmo entered there were many chances. Bayern was the easiest 4 goals Barça scored this season tbh , Guaranteed one . I mean they play a defensive high line against a team with the same intent . They should have known Barça had runners that can break quickly, not the tired Veteran players they faced in Lisbon. But Bayern was the first team to break the offside trap effectively, that I can give you.
Extremely Risky Tactics by Flick. Barca were Clinical otherwise this game could have been anything. As for Kompany, He is showing why he is a Championship level Manager (No Tactical tweaks to exploit Barca high line)
