You look gorgeous! I know this was a difficult and challenging decision to have to go thru. I pray that this is the last big chop that you have to go thru again. Thank you for speaking out and being fearless in sharing your experience. I believe that everything happens for a reason and our paths were meant to cross to help each other learn grow and support each other. Seeing you cut your hair made me bite back tears because I know you did everything you could to avoid this. Sending all my love and positive thoughts your way as you rock this cut. You will be back to styling it up by the end of the year 😅
This had all the makings of a cult. I was amazed so many women got swept up in it. Some women are still holding on to this method even as their hair is suffering.
Yes it’s still being pushed. I think they got leverage because of the pandemic. The hair industry is a billion dollars industry so there wanted their cut too. As I said before they were deceptive and they are greedy ‼️
Girl when you look up the characteristics of a cult by Rick Ross of Cult Education Institute, Steve Eichel of the Cultic Studies Association and the America FBI...you start seeing too many characteristic traits of this BGC/CIK organisation!! Scary ASF. Here's a few: 1.The group is closed, so in other words, although there may be outside followers, there's usually an inner circle that follows the leader without question, and that maintains a tremendous amount of secrecy." All the exclusive secret access that you have to pay for. 2. "then once recruited will subject its members to an organized program of thought reform." If the method isn't working for you..then you are not ready to....WASH YOUR DAMN HAIR....lol! Brainwashing more like. 3.Be wary of any leader who proclaims him or herself as having special powers or special insight. And, of course, divinity. Only special insight in how to do kinky hair that no other stylist or cosmetologist, cosmetic chemist or trichologist in the world has... 4. No tolerance for questions or critical inquiry. Whelp..... Yeah I have trust issues....from the time I first went to a black stylist when I was 8! Now I get at least 10 opinions from 10 unconnected advisors/"experts"...on everything. lol! I've never been good at being a follower. might be because I'm neurodivergent.
Rosie, I’m so sorry that you had to big chop your hair due to the BGC method. I know personally how hard you tried to salvage your hair but nothing could repair what happened to it. To me that method is the perfect storm because each component of it ends up severely damaging the hair. The fact that BGC’s No Oils & Butters method is still being promoted and marketed is just wild to me! No shade and just truthfully speaking, even the owner of BGC, her hair looks dry and damaged now! Anyway, you look absolutely gorgeous with your new haircut and I’m excited for your new healthy hair journey! 💖🥳
@@rosieamelia5955 Why am I not surprised! She also recently told people in SSC that co-washing is okay and so is using some oil. Geez, sounds like a lot of pivoting happening don’t it!!!
ThankU Rosie for sharing your big chop. You are still Beautiful! Your tapered cut is very becoming! I know exactly how you feel. To this day I'm still rocking a tapered cut and loving it!
I love it!! There's just something about a woman who wears her hair short that exudes so much confidence, even when we don't actually feel that way! Trust me, I get it!!
Plain to see majority of these ladies were just sold off to the highest bidder, AG and innersense with zero recall or accountability when things went south...its still sad to see certain ladies fight tooth and nail for this method while their hair shows zero proof of progress and year after year they keep wearing a taper hoping for when it finally grows out😢 "Oh but i don't care about length"... then why you keep doing a length comparison check everytime you get huh sis ? Length goals are OKAY and the way these women been gaslit to keep chopping off they hair when they secretly wish to grow it out.....😔 All i can say is thank you for your experience and this journey you took us all along on , cheers to your new phase with lessons learned sis ! You rock the short look so well and it will soon grow out before you know it🙏🏾
I had to skip to the end to see the result. Honestly, between you and Shelly, I am fighting back tears. Tears of anger and yet also tears joy. Honestly, I am in awe of how strong you two and others, who are affected, have been during this process. You look beautiful, regardless of what hair you have on your head. I'm grateful to you for sharing your experiences as it helps all of us learn, even when we want to resist (I know I did). And yes, my hair is damaged as well. But I now know better, thanks to you, Shelly, and AfricanHairGod.
You are very welcome, we all know better now! Professional or not we will know how to spot a scammer, a crook and a haircare method that’s bogus. I wish you the best in your hair journey 🤎
So sorry you experienced a forced big chop. Glad you have the knowledge and resources to move forward with a healthy hair retention journey. You are beautiful. Love the cut
Well this experience mirrors mine almost identically. With the 1 exception that I didn’t get any Cut It Kinky cuts. However, I did all the other things, weekly Washing, unnecessary clarifying, heavy Gels to elongate my girls, no leave ins (on occasion) & all the other things. My poor hair is a mess😢😢. I bet I have every type of split end on that chart😢 I know the big chop is my next step. Only thing is that I’m dealing with a rather large spot of hair loss, right in the front of my head…and with the length (even though it’s a ratty mess,) I’m able to disguise that issue. I’m so lost…and don’t know what to do. I dnt want to go bk under wigs, but I feel like I have no choice other than to shave it off and hide my imperfection under a wig until a new head of hair grows out. Also, I hate wigs 😭🤷🏽♀️! Thanks for sharing❤
I hate wigs, too 😭 Unfortunately, I, too, have to shave my head and go the wig route. I have serious damage, but not from this, but from everyday circumstances. It's unfortunate, but it is what it is 😞
I am so sorry. I am wearing my little fro , as we would say in Jamaica If you don’t like it😅, then don’t look. It’s a very difficult adjustment do what makes you feel comfortable. I wish you the best
I have hair loss.....getting it check to see if it is CCCA. Hair loss runs in my family and both I and my sister have abnormal blood cells. I only wear wigs in winter. I wear hair pieces, clip-ins, half wigs, crochets. silk and satin scarves to hide the hair loss. I take the hair down and treat my problem areas and scalp every night. I put the extra hair in myself so I know it's not tight and I also know how to take it down. i once had a weave put in that was a nightmare to take down because the lady sewed up down and left and right and didn't follow a discernable pattern. That made me stop doing weaves too!! Please go to a trichologist and/or a dermatologist to get a proper diagnosis of the hair loss. My trichologists help me and within 4 weeks the hair loss has started to fill in again.
Rosie, you have a beautiful face so that short style looks great on you. Not gonna lie, I was annoyed that you had to almost shave your head to get rid of damage. Hair grows back but it takes time and this is not something you did for a style, you did it out of necessity to remedy an unfortunate situation. Nevertheless, I am here for this new phase of your journey. You got this!
Oh thank you! I would love my hair more if I chose to cut it for style preference. But no one should have to live with this kind of damage. Let’s say this was a mental taxing experience.
You are such an inspiration Rosie I went through the same thing with my hair due to the bgc method I realized a few weeks before you shared your experience my research also lead me to believe the products we were recommended all contained high amounts of aloe, protein or plant extracts personally for me apart from the splits all the way up the shaft my hair actually began to break off and fall out pretty sure due to the ingredients I mentioned plus my hair being so dry from bgc method, just a thought thank you for sharing Rosie!
You’re very welcome, it’s very sad and unfortunate that this experience is purely because of greed. They sold us out to the highest bidders and stuffed their purses. Now leave in, deep conditioners and oils are okay to use. Wait silicone are okay too.
@@rosieamelia5955 it is extremely sad the way I see it they play on our emotions and our view on our hair and the history behind it all much deeper than hair to be honest but I pray all women learn their hair and stick to what they know and has shown to work for them and that we be secure in that that way no one can use us again ☺️
I know this isn’t what you wanted but you truly have the bone structure for your current length of hair. The BGC method also reeked havoc on my 4c hair but I have desperately tried to hold on to some of my length because I do NOT have the face to pull that kind of cut off 😅. You look amazing!
I honestly just had to cut my hair . This whole situation totally raked havoc on your mental health. There is still no apology to all the women who’ve been wronged .
@@rosieamelia5955 yes we will be waiting a long time (like forever) for an apology. It’s a business so admitting any wrong would likely hurt their brand even more. I just appreciate ladies like you, Shelly and Tamz continuing to share your stories in the hopes that it will save someone else.
your cut looks amazing i know this isnt the route you wanted to take i was thankful i saw yours and Shelly's videos early on and kept my leave in and deep conditioning. i am a year into curly cuts but i always wore exclusive wash and goes. Yall have me really making sure i am checking my hair health.
ALL of those tips are great and I agree. I follow each and every one of them, especially the deep conditioner, no harsh shampoo, researching the listed ingredients, heat protectant, less heat, etc. Thank you for sharing your long journey. You will get back to a long healthy hair.
You look look beautiful with ur new cut Rosie! It sucks that you have had to cut your beautiful hair and there has still been no accountability by them for the method causing damage to paying customers hair.
Love the cut!!! It looks great on you. But definitely understand the frustration of what this method caused to your hair. The idea of the sitting under the dryer every week just never sat well with me. I still prefer air dry results of wash n go styles. I prefer leave ins too. That might have just saved my hair from all the damaged you and others have experienced. But moving forward as you said, you have to do what your hair likes and does well with. I’m excited to see what hair styles you’ll have as it starts to grow back.
What you went through was so difficult. Thank you for sharing your experience. It helped me reassess my own hair and maintenance. As many have already said, you look beautiful with your haircut!
Thank you 🙏🏾, yes it’s very sad that people are still pushing this method saying it’s healthy. Most people are also okay with split ends 🤦🏾♀️ and damage hair to collect coins ‼️
With products that are not black-owned or made exclusively for black people!!! If you want to wear a wash-and-go, please use Dickey's products aka Hair Rules. Me? I'm sticking to my same old Regular regular old skool Cantu, African Pride and Creme of Nature. Unfortunately Blue Magic makes my scalp itch and I never liked the smell but Camille Rose and Shea Moisture do hair butters that doesn't make my scalp or hair angry so I seal if I feel like with those.
I have the same issues- hair splitting all over. I don't think its just the cut its the whole method- Oil's protect the lipid barrier of the hair. No oil = more fragile hair
Thank you for sharing your story. I wanted my hair dresser to cut my hair as short as yours but she left me with at least 5 inches Al around and I’m on a 6-8 week schedule for treatments and trims. You look gorgeous with any length. Wishing you a successful regrowth journey.
That's how it be in recovery Lol!...especially so she can monitor any further issues!! Spoken as someone always in recovery...lol! from various self-inflicted and un-self-inflicted un-health. Lol! could be my hair , my scalp, my teeth, my eyes, my hands, my tennis elbow in both arms, my sprained ankles, my flat feet, my weak knee, my mental neurodivergent health, my muscle knot in my Gluteus Maximus, bad relationships, tyrannically employers/managers. Lol! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Girl I be tore up!! at only 42!! Lol! currently in recovery from insomnia and medication withdrawal.
Have be waiting on this video. You look absolutely gorgeous! You did this for you and so many other women that had the same damage to their hair. I also did the no oils and butter but didn’t have this type of damage to where I feel like I need to have all my hair cut off. But during this time I did a lot of twist out. Now I am definitely doing deep conditioning every wash day and leave in conditioner every wash day and that’s once a week or every 5 day. My hair is feeling amazing and more hydrated.
We have to get to know our own hair and what it needs. I know you’ll have a beautiful new head of hair in no time. Keep the faith and don’t worry(not good for your hair). ❤
So so sorry you HAD to cut off all your hair due to damage. I’ve been watching all this unfold and I hate that this happened to you and others. The good thing is that your hair will grow back. ❤️
Professional scammers more like it! It's just so sad and frustrating that you have to Big Chop smh. I just feel like we were sold to the highest bidder and that was Innersense and AG. After that they really capitalized on creating a method that would keep us in their shop spending hundreds of dollars. All that money and time but now many people have to BIG CHOP.
It has been amazing to watch how they keep getting away with it! A key strategy is to position themselves as the sole authority on natural hair, and convince folks that any other way is nonsensical.
Well now they are doing everything ‼️ prepoo , leave in ,Deep conditioner and bonding treatment 😅, Not even a thank you to us folks from the RU-vid University. Let’s not forget She’s ( AISHA)even using oils now. Trust me when your mess gets damaged by that SAID method you are gonna need some pre-poo , oils , leave in , deep conditioner and bond treatment so the hair doesn’t snap and break off. FACTS : Also folks are out here typing in comment sections that they are having success with the method but in the library complaining they are having split and can’t detangle their hair.
So glad you are sharing your story! I too was a victim of the bgc method. I to had to cut inches off of my bra strap length hair. Never again! One of the stylist cut her hair too because it was damaged doing her own method! It’s like the lies are never ending.
I’m sorry that you are going this. I agree with all the comments- You look beautiful!!! Rock that short hair and enjoy the easier wash days while you can. 💜
I hate that you went through all this. But I LOVE your new style. I went to a "curl specialist" and I tried a curly cut once and instantly regretted it. I lost a lot of length and a lot of money because I had to go to my original stylist two weeks later to FIX what the curl specialist had done.
So beautiful. Thanks for sharing your experience and lessons learned. You are so brave for making the right decision to prioritize hair health over length. I wish you a more fulfilling journey. 🌸💕
@@rosieamelia5955 I have done the no oils and no butters since 2021. As you can imagine, my hair is not healthy. I've cut my hair off a couple of times along the way, not realizing the process was the cause of the problem. So, although I stopped the wash and goes almost 5 months ago, my hair is still not in good shape. So, this is why I say I'm considering another big chop because no matter what I do, my hair ultimately feels the same.
Same experience, the damage is strange it affects the health hair. I found that cutting over time didn’t work for me or others. Really shaving the hair might be the only solution. I am so scared that leaving some on the top might come back to bite me. I have a few events I have to attend and I don’t want to be bald headed. Once those events are over I might just shave the top. That’s if I see evidence of damage still remaining.
@@rosieamelia5955 it's so unfortunate that such drastic measures are necessary but I do find shorter hair easier to take care of because it's less time consuming - I'm clinging to this silver lining. Also, I'm wondering how you care for your hair now, are you using the foam sponge or twists and which products are you using? I appreciate you for sharing your journey with us.❤️
Rosie you have the face for this style ❤. Looks beautiful girl. Sorry it was under these circumstances that you had to big chop. It will grow back though.
Though it isn’t the reason you wanted to cut your hair do know that it looks great on you and may bring some styling ease in this season. ❤ New beginnings brings new energy and wisdom to move forward with. Being truthful and courageous in sharing your journey has helped many. Continued blessings to you on your journey. 🌻
hugs girl. I'm sorry that you and Shelly went through this. The time, money, and energy you both put in did not warrant these damaged results. It was what made me go natural 15 years ago...I was done listening to black stylists. I listen to black trichologists, black chemists and non-black stylists. Lol! My Black trichologists are from Angola and travel between there and London to help African ancestry hair problems. Athough they do not use oils or butters raw, they always use leave-in conditioner and deep conditioner and while your hair and scalp is healing, they do not recommend stylers. So most of the time I style my hair with only a leave-in conditioner and I apply leave it every day as they recommended for me. I have 4c ultra-fine hair high porosity hair.
Thank you, so funny enough my CIK stylist that adapted this method is also a trichologist. I heard that in Europe the standards are quite different when it comes to trichologist. My hair is so much happier with my new product choices . I also wanted to add that Shelly and I including most who were listening to these stylists would always bring up what we were experiencing but were gaslighted into thinking it was normal. Not gonna lie I don’t really trust stylists other than a few who I know are genuine. I am so hopefully 🙏🏾
@@rosieamelia5955 yeah in the USA Trichology is a 2 week course. In the UK trichology is a 2 year course in a clinical setting not a hair salon. My trichologists do not even style your hair. They only put it in 2 french braids if it is long enough.
I went back to the basics after heat damage = mini twist. Even after cutting the damaged hair, I still had plenty left 🤷🏿♀️ = Coiled hair, Don't care.
I have three styles....puff, flat twists or 2 o 3 french braids. Lol! I do not have the time, patience, energy or skill for all these other types of styling on a regular basis. My twists unravel and tangle way too easily so I prefer flat twists. Wash and go...um.....I'm too lazy to make it all defined and wait for it to dry under a hood. extensions, sew-ins, wigs...too complicated and the products make my scalp itch...also I like to workout outside and swim.....how am I supposed to wash my scalp properly and apply scalp treatments with these attached to my head? If all else fails I put my hair in a silk or satin scarf. Work doesn't complain because they already know I'm neurodivergent and my trichologist already medically diagnosed me to not have my scalp and hair exposed to the elements....ends burnt by the sun or flapping in the wind or freezing off.
I personally love the short cut on you!!! 😍 It frames your face and shows your bone structure well but I know it can be a bit of an adjustment for you so just stay strong and know that this is only temporary and it will grow back again!!! I also have been watching your videos on this damage and wanted to ask why is the hair not going back to being healthy after you switched back to your old routine with oils and deep conditioning frequently? Shouldn't that bring the moisture back into your hair if you deep condition weekly? I thought permanent damage to hair could only come from chemicals, heat, or colouring 🤔 do you think maybe doing all those bond treatments potentially gave you protein overload and put too much strength in your hair which is why It was so dry and rough and webbing?
The damage is very interesting, no deep conditioner is going to fix that. Everyone that has experienced this level of damage ends up having to big chop. Also cutting little at a time didn’t seem to help it just prolong the damage.
I don’t like big chops but the cut suits you. I did the same a few years back. Still not sure if it was necessary but I discovered that I just like the idea of someone else doing my hair and trying new products. Which lead to a lot of my damage for me.
Chile I'm the opposite..I don't like my hair done by anyone including myself and I don't like trying new products or new methods....I still get some damage and hair loss but it's usually with little time, money and energy. Lol! I'm neurodivergent so things get missed/neglected. so I've been using the same As I Am hydration Elation deep conditioner for 5 years and the same Aphogee protein treatments for 15 years....I'm dead if Aphogee ever shuts down. I now force myself to go to the stylist and the trichologist every 12-16 weeks to keep me on track and remind me that I need to actually look after my hair....um..and They treat and cut off the damage too. Lol!
You should try Kinky Tresses products The shampoo, deep conditioner and they leave in ..i seen you do bonding treatment in another video but give the products a try i mentioned
I can certainly relate, but my damaged came from having a relaxer and not properly caring for my hair. My first big chop wasn’t so bad, this go around, lord I’m struggling 😢
I am so sorry, girl Big Chops are not fun. I wish you a healthy hair journey. What I can say from experience is The more you wear it out, the easier it becomes. I have worn my hair out every day since big chop and the first few days it was hard 🥺. Now I am unstoppable, I don’t define my hair unless I have somewhere to go I just use a leave in a a light oil on top. You got this 🩵
I love it , you look beautiful with it. Your journey will be amazing and beautiful. I recently went back to my short cut , I’m more confident with short hair. I’ve always had long hair , just didn’t like it natural and didn’t want to relax it so I set myself free. I can’t to watch your journey, thank you for sharing your brave and beautiful hair story.
Can I ask what products that you used from their recs? Did you use Innersense? Which products didn't agree with your hair. I will watch your updated routine. Tbh, I ended up deviating from their method and still use Qhemet Biologics, which I don't think they'd recommend. I do use foam for twist outs, which is one of their things. It seemed like certain hair types fare better with their method do I slowly went away from it.
Innersense and Ag Shampoo & conditioner . Uncle Funky’s daughter, ICH , Trapdora products. Even the looser curl pattern people use a leave in conditioner before adding gels.
@rosieamelia5955 yeah it's weird because when I first found them, they used to have a list of leave ins to use on their Wash YDH booklet. Seems like they changed up and it's been for the worse. Your bc looks great and your hair will flourish again.
Rosie did you see a dermatologist? You might have mentioned in another video but I can’t remember. Anyway you rock short hair since you have a beautiful face.
Yes and my blood work came back that I was in pristine health. My scalp has also gotten better after I stopped using the products I was using from the method
@@rosieamelia5955 People been saying their scalp was getting tore up by the products. Unfortunately a lot of products...organic, natural, synthetic make my scalp itch. I just have to be careful and remove as quickly as possible when I notice a reaction with my trichologists' shampoo!
I just did a big chop for the same reason too I have about half inch low cut hair now But it’s still so dry and doesn’t hold moisture, does anybody else have this experience?
It’s a method of caring for the hair that was introduced by two stylists / Scammers 😩. It’s much easier if you look up , no oils no butter, 30 day hair detox .
No offense but youre soo beautiful you literally look great and if im allowed to say better with short hair woa!! I know im like you i hate big chops and love long hair i just did my big cbop its shorter than your cut but if i looked like you do with short hair i would be happy doing short cuts .. hope ure not upset i said this but you look woa beautiful with short hair wow! Blessings on your new journey🙏
😁, I am not upset with you one bit. I took the time I needed to heal as much as possible before editing and uploading this video 😁. I like short hair but I don’t care for hair this short truthfully but I am learning to love my hair and enjoy my journey.
@@rosieamelia5955 I totally understand ! As I had to work hard on accepting the same for me .. let's just say you were born with a double flare that can stun with short and long 🤗 enjoy the day 🌞🌺
This is not normal damage, the only people who can truly understand is the ones experiencing the damage. We can all sit and talk when we don’t have to live with or care for the hair. But you are certainly entitled to your opinions.
Yeah I for one do not want to transition out damaged hair! Nope I am not that person...I'm quick with the scissors myself if I can't get in to see my stylist!! It happened with relaxer, it happened with heat damage and it happens with dusting my ends. My stylist knows that I will cut it off!...and then he has to reshape it. I do not have that kind of patience to work with damaged hair. once it's split and once it's heat damaged it cannot be rescued...it's not going to go back curly or the ends are going to be glued back together.
