omg the way sooyoung doesnt look a day older than she did in like 2009 vampire queen 🥰 and i love what she said about the choreography having a story from start to finish bc honestly, i got what that guy said about companies cutting and pasting pieces to create a performance but as someone who actually appreciates the arts it terrifies me... its just capitalism in over drive and thats not a flex. you pay 10 choreographers to do one song and pick and choose the best parts... how is that not disrespectful to the artists 😅 he tried to normalize it by saying 'at this point the composers and the choreographers know better than to feel bad about it and are just grateful to be included' but i disagree. thats what the industry probably WANTS them to feel but if this is YOUR ART... its an AI approach to humanity and i dont like that one bit. so im super grateful for sooyoung sticking up for the choreographers about relaying a story from start to finish and missing the days it was 1 person (or 2) choreographing a full song
Agree, but with how dense the industry is now, and if only 'big names' get chosen to make choreography, then the newer names won't even have a chance in the one or two choreographers system... Back then this worked as less groups and soloists, but nowadays (yes, the one buying the dance can choose a full choreo from the artist/choreographer, like Sooyoung did for her cover) catchy moves are main points. Can't forget the company is all about business, which is why so many members and versions, and if buying 10 dances still profits with a combined best dance, it's still a good price in a business viewpoint. In creative work viewpoint this sadly is not, but a positive thinking is now even smaller/newer names have a better chance in being made known (and get paid to survive being able to do art as their career), since they can post their own full version after the group releases their song. There are pros and cons to all, especially for how big kpop is.
