US does not have the equivalent of caste , religion and language politics tearing it apart from within. Secondly few presidents ended expanding the country , and never gifted territory away to neighbouring countries in the name of harmony and bilateral relations, as a society Americans never hesitate to try something new , for example smartphone became a way of life pretty quickly when compared to others and finally they managed to get rid of colonizers quicker than others.

USA does have racism, even today. It does have class conficts. And USA for a long time was a colonial power, and during recolonization period it did let go of the Philippines and several other regions. India was born as a democracy and it also has border settlements. And losing some small pieces of land doesn't automatically prevent a country from becoming powerful. Japan has no natural resources, has small area, but still grew to world power. USA has also did border settlements with Canada and Mexico as any other country.

Great points! One of the advantages is definitely geography sure, but hard to believe it is the main one. There are serious bad reasons why US is a superpower… 1. Mass genocide of local population (native Americans) which resulted in homogenized population. Ethnic homogenization of early population made early builders get along and progress at a faster rate. 2. Slavery, which gave abundant labor while the elite did not have to work that hard… Barring the civil war (not as devastating as wars in other part of the world) not much conflicts. Eventual abolishment of slavery (though slow and late), shifted the focus on getting along and building the country while the under current of racism exists to this day and sadly on the rise. The good reasons are early awakening of democracy, as well has huge investment in technology (the driver being more of competition with Russia during Cold War). Geographical distance and abundance of some resources are good, but agriculture wise it is not diverse at all. It is mainly Corn, Wheat and Soybeans, more used as feed to livestock… Also strategic importing and getting the first Middle East oil unethical and political alliances in that region… These perhaps gave the 200+ years of American golden era, and it appears to be falling (history repeats itself). Political divide is on the rise, loopholes of democracy are taken advantage of… Overall, post civil war, people largely got along here as they lost their affiliation to their European roots and had fewer regional sentiments and biases…

Geography is one of the reasons. If you think that's the only reason then you dont know what you are talking about. America had an influx of highly skilled Immigration during the world wars and a lot of them contributed significantly in setting up the country's institutions. Americans weren't experts in anything but they knew how to learn from the best minds.

Of course it is not the only reason. There are many many things that go into making something the way it is: but people usually forget that geography is a big contributor and reminding them of that is the point of this episode. -@Navin

It is already explained in the video that it (things like immigration) is more of a proximate reason.

Good question bro. The answer is simple , North part of India is still suffering from Islamic Phobia and South part of India is lacking unity among themselves . We have beautiful rivers flowing across India and currant Union of State government is showing interest in dividing the people than River Navigation.

Why usa is a superpower : 1 . Unending supply of crude oil 2. Weak neighbours 3. Surrounded by water ( natural barrier against enemy)

6:50 US is the largest exporter of food? Then why are there food deserts in the US?

But how does that explain the Red Indians not being able to achieve that status. I think it's purely tech and an active invasion mentality

Great Britain was a superpower before US. US adopted its culture, laws, politics, and improved upon them. Geography is nothing to do with power.

UK is rare case of colonial power which is unlikely to repeat. US on other hand blessed with huge land and natural resources.

@surajrshetty Inventions and innovations make countries superpowers. Natural resources are discovered. Sand is just sand before the invention of glass or silicon. Sunlight is not a resource until solar pannel is invented. American culture supports invention. Britain was a great inventor before that china, and India was before that.

UK lost its ways after becoming too rich. Venezuela is no 1 in oil reserves. Ultimate resource in the modern world.

Natural resources play a great role for a country. It was Californian gold rush of 1850s which led to California's birth and ultimately it became Silicon valley@@ajaykumar-premium
