How Gintama was CONCEIVED - A Brief Look into Hideaki Sorachi 

Dude is a legend. Gintama doesn't get the credit it deserves. Most people rate it 10/10, and people STILL won't give it a chance.

Sorachi is a ketsu no ana to his editors. But he's a really great storyteller and mangaka. I admire him so much for making Gintama the way it is. He deserves the number 1 mangaka spot for 4 years. Now he's resting his gorilla ass off, sadly not on Roppongi Hills, but I think he became closer to his dream of becoming a cheese bun. Thank you Sorachi and thank you for making this amazing video about him.

People either haven't watched Gintama and don't like it or you've watched it and love it. No in-between. It's a masterpiece

I could just imagine the amount of headaches the publisher staff especially his editors had when Gintama was still serializing. That Gorilla was going around causing trouble lmao but that's why we love him

I wonder what people thought of the future of gintama when the first chapter came out in 2003.

One does not simply create a story that encompasses literally all kinds of genres. While authors like Oda excels in world-building, Gorilla-sensei flourishes when it comes to cultural references and being a Jack-of-all Trader.

I didn't realize I would ever have a favourite manga author until I watched Gintama. The way Sorachi sensei laid out the whole anime is just top notch. I cannot even explain how brilliant Gintama is. The way he expressed the story, the characters, the balance between comedy and action that made us feel so many emotions along the way! I just have so much respect for him and I love Gintama so much!

From his interviews to can tell hes a very humble guy. I wish he knew how many people love him and his work even outside of japan.

I so hope that Sorachi-sensei is aware that there are a lot of people who fell inlove with Gintama. And if I would also be given a chance to meet him. I want to say thank you so much for creating Gintama. Thank you so much for your hard work! And take care always(stay healthy most all)

I really appreciate Sorachi for being adamant on ending the series in his own terms. Unlike bleach, naruto, and even othe manga from shonen jump that has a rushed ending, he took the time to end any loose ends and bring the story all together. No character is useless in the last arc. You can really feel the nostalgic feeling in it all, and you can truly understand how he loves all his characters and how he values his work. Thank you, Sorachi sensei

Hahahaha Hideaki sensei and editor Oonishi definitely have the biggest ball to ever produce something like Gintama and still flourish. I admit at the time of serialization, there are many big competitor and while I do enjoy watching Gintama it just an average manga. But somehow I still stick with Gintama to the end. The story is all over the place but it still manage to capture my attention. And for some reason, I got many life lesson from watching Gintama. The average manga that I thought suddenly become special in my heart. It really teach me, to be myself and time is short so be grateful in every little great thing that ever happens in my life so I can ground myself if I ever find myself in tight spot. I take those lesson at heart and I can continue to live by being myself and not a shell of myself. And Sorachi and Oonishi are very amazing to still be a savage and troll to the people arround and them and still controlling the situation. Thank you Hideaki sensei for drawing this manga. When I know that Kimetsu no Yaiba is inspired by Gintama, I'm shocked and at the same time it's not unexpected because these two manga/ anime have something common. Empathy and life lesson. And unexpected humor too.

i just recently started watching gintama (like about a month and a half ago). i was even hesitant at first, like it took me weeks to finish 15 episodes ksksksks but now, i can barely live without having to watch even just a few episodes per day despite my busy schedule. it's a really good series. spent nights with ugly sobbing. i kinda feel like i'm starting to have serious trust issues. because most of the times, an episode starts with comedic shenanigans but ends up with a really touching story LIKE WTH YOU HAD ME LAUGHING LIKE A FOOL AT FIRST THEN NOW YOU'RE MAKING ME SOB but really, kudos boss sorachi. you're the mvp. thank you for fighting for your ideals, yea

How Gintama was really conceived: The gorilla ate five tons of rotten bananas one day which resulted in him camping inside the toilet. There, he saw a curly shit and decided to make it into a character. He wanted to use the shit color as hair, but when putting the shit on paper, silver paint fell on it. So he decided to make the shit silver in color. The shit became Gintoki's hair. Then Gorilla drew the same character's face and changed their hair color. He named it Gintama. Gin for silver. Tama for the soul wreaking shit he had to take that day.

I like how passionate he is about his work it shows very much making me appreciate it even more 💓💓💓 my all time favorite mangaka
