To everyone that said "ew SYNTHETIC beeswax?" Know that if you want organic beeswax for something that's massively produced by a popular cosmetics company, you're risking them outsourcing or wasting resources that are used to maintain beeswax production, making it worse for the environment and also risking it not being cruelty free. "Synthetic" does not mean "poison" or "bad". We save resources by creating a shortcut to produce materials used daily which saves time and resource, plus it makes quality control much easier.

@@sjin9297 With your line of logic no matter if it's a diamond or a pencil graphite you'd call it carbon, or else the pencil company and the diamond industry would both be considered false advertising. Just because beeswax was made by bees, it doesn't mean synthetic beeswax can't have the same properties as actual beeswax. That's literally why it's called synthetic beeswax, it's because it has the same lipid structure and components and would act similar (if not identical) to beeswax. Also hate to break the news to you, but most things you've seen on the ingredients label definitely are not all 100% honest with their consumers. Companies can choose to leave out many trace ingredients because the FDA deems it harmless to humans in low dosages, so you might want to toss that mentality of zero-tolerance for false advertising sooner or later.

@@sjin9297 read my comment again. There are different kinds of wax and it's important to have these different waxes differentiated with names that consumers can understand. That's why they don't just call it "wax" because beeswax has different chemical components than say soy wax like you find in candles.

Colourpop makes something similar to this for a fraction of the price called Blotted Lip. They also have a liquid lipstick version with a doe foot applicator called Ultra Blotted Lip.

Buy a really full coverage lipstick- you can either use it as its intended or use a little and blend out to make natural. I dont see the big deal with Glossier's 'natural' style when its actually just shitty formula lmao

They are supposed the be sheer. Glossier is geared towards people who like a lighter, barely there kinda makeup. You can however build them up to get more color payoff. I personally love both GenG lipsticks I have because I can wear them lightly on a no makeup day or add a few more swipes to get a more pigmented look. To each their own, but I never wear regular lipstick without blotting most of the color away anyway so these lipsticks are perfect for me!

NakedAndLaughing their entire “theme” is natural, basically not there makeup. So it only makes sense to have sheer lipsticks. For someone who doesn’t wear much makeup, I’d LOVE this.

I personally like them because of their sheerness (is that a word?). I don't personally like the look and feel of really opaque formulas on my lips but I love a matte finish, so these are ideal for me.

It actually has more pigment that you think. I own the lightest shade (Cake) and I was scared it wouldn’t show but it’s one of my favorite lipsticks ever because it’s buildable and doesn’t dry my lips! Also, it stays longer on my lips than a lip balm, and doesn’t have a glossy effect (which I don’t like).

It's supposed to be a sheer wash of pigment. Glossier's whole m.o is natural looking makeup, plus the lipstick is buildable.

Also kind of odd to suggest that you can achieve the same thing with lip balm, when it is literally a -matte- product.. the whole point is that it has the properties of a matte lipstick, not a lip balm

Everyone is hating on these lipsticks because they're less pigmented, but just a thought: maybe some people actually like that look? I know I do, I wear the shade Cake almost everyday. They are pretty sheer, but they give you the most beautiful tint that I haven't been able to find in other lipsticks (even when I blot and tbh I hate that whole process.) So please, don't let the idea of something not being super pigmented lead to an automatic dismissal of a product. That's never what this lipstick, or Glossier for that matter, was intended for.

Bruh most people in this comment section are so damn negative. PLEASE go to the glossier website and educate yourself first before saying shit like "Ew looks like chapstick" or "Wow no pigment" the whole point of these lipsticks is that they look soft and like you have just blotted your lips without wasting any lipstick plus its kinda inconvinient to have to constantly blot off the lipstick every time you need to reapply. If you don't like the brand and won't even bother to educate yourselves then stop bitching and leave.

Silicone is generally harmless unless you literally ingested the whole tube causing intestinal blocking. Chemically speaking silicone is pretty stable for cosmetics

No hate but that color payoff was sad. But i think some people like that kind of payoff. Havent tried the brand myself though.

Super expensive and you can get wet n wild or elf or Burts bees for the exact same thing and they don’t test on animals I know glossier doesn’t test on animals either but these ones are a lot less expensive and you get the exact same thing with just a different thing on the container
