Maybe with some special, hard way of getting entries, so just getting them to 0HP once is not enough. They could spin an entire backstory of some relative being a nature researcher around it. With some very dark twists of course..
@@fhialsdhkt43tg72 some kind of event boss like the shrieker, and once he dies, you can start unlocking entries with kills. 1 kill, enemy name and picture. 5 kills, enemy hp and move names with effects. 10 kills, move damage at different levels, resistance effects. 20 kills, long form lore entry.
something to note about the mosquito enemies is that if your hero is blighted and they get hit with the thirst that blight will transfer to the mosquito, its kinda interesting as a thematic thing but happens so rarely that it doesnt affect anything at all
Just started the game and didn’t understand how dangerous the thralls were, got revenge’d but had a quad dodge/miss, I’ve targeted them 100% ever since.
Me, first time playing: "Oh. Those fish with spears are adorable. What is that? Pelagic Grouper Yeah, i guess i'll leave them and deal with the caster first..." First turn, first attack, Seaward Slash Crits for 18 damage, highwayman at the 2nd rank immediately down to 0 hp. Me: "WHAT THE FUCK"
Literally had confusion spores blight a guy and shuffle my healer out of position, leading to a crit tree branch that brought my guy from full health to deaths door, healer lost their turn due to reposition, then blight killed my guy. I didn't even play that wrong, there was just nothing I could have done.
Which healer? Vestal can group heal from everywhere but position 1, Occultist can heal from anywhere, so I'm guessing that the Vestal got shuffled to 1? Get more blight resist if going to the Weald.
@@TheMysteriouswatcher I'm running a modded campaign. My main healer can only heal from 3 and 4, any other characters that could heal never got the chance too before my guy died. Also it's unreasonable to assume you'll never get blighted by running 4 blight resist trinkets on your whole squad. Just saying it was unlucky and a testament to the power of the giant.
I can't believe Red Hook sat down and decided to give a horse enemy stealth. Ya know, horse are known for their sneakiness in real life. You can never hear them passing by.
Well, the name of the ability they use to gain stealth (Paw the Ground) kinda implies that they're kicking up dust to make it hard to see where they are. Which is a very cute idea, I like it. If there's one thing I can't believe they actually did it was making fucking farmhands into stress casters.
I think the "Cove Lepers" (Pelagic Groupers) having such an unassuming design is a point in its favor. Most newer players will probably start to notice how similar enemy party composition can be, especially in apprentice level dungeons, with regular damage dealers in the front and quick stress enemies in the back. So when they fight in the Cove for the first time, they'll likely underestimate these enemies since they look so similar to the bone soldiers from the ruins.
An idea as to why the fungal scratcher has such a high PROT ... being almost wholly fungal, it no longer has vital organs on which it's survival is reliant upon. Ergo, the heroes have to hack it into chunks to completely neutralize it. Their corpse artwork for this enemy bears some evidence of this.
To date maggot is still the most dangerous enemy to me. The fact that you can get stunlocked by a maggot is astounding, not even to say the disease proc.
large flesheater used devour on my favourite legend vestal 3 times in a row, without setting a mark... I've always killed them on sight ever since. RIP Cruel, Im still waiting for that revive event.
the flesh eater on his own cannot kill any hero as long as you have heals. and it's a big enemy which means it doesn't summon reinforcements. if you got a vestal you can just stall and fish for a crit heal, while applying (de)buffs. i understand that, paired with regular flesh eaters, or just against teams that don't have much healing the flesh eater is so broken
Squiffy Ghast is actually horrifying as hell, I once went into champion medium kill 100% room battles and got this dude in like abosultely every battle ever, and even though I had flag with some -stress trinket and some self-stress heal across the board he just spammed me with so much stress I can't keep up with I was forced to leave because the party started having heart attacks. But you gotta admit, the sfx of him missing an attack is freaking hilarious.
Esquire is such a broken RNG enemy... I still have PTSD flashbacks when remembering that not so long ago I met an enemy group made just of 4 esquires on a champion difficulty. They used "Skewering Repartee" 4 times in a row on the first turn which just destroyed my comp putting everyone at death door (Despite the fact that three of my heroes had 50+ dodge). It was pure miracle nobody had died back then.
Swine Skiver might actually occupy my nightmares. Champion Hellion, champion Occultist, champion Arbalest. Gone, reduced to atoms in like the second fight of the dungeon. I'm lucky I got my bounty hunter out with all their trinkets ;-;
When it comes to effectivness against the player, the blighted giant is probably an S tier, and it kinda makes makes sense, it is a giant after all, but it is still annoying.
It was a bit confusing for me to look at the enemy portraits looking to the right instead of the left. I had trouble figuring out what some of them were at first glance
Great video! I think I would put uca crabs at A tier or maybe S tier, I think they're a really well-designed and unique enemy. That bleed is nasty and unique, it's an enemy that you really need to take into account on the cove and I like that.
The Pelagic Groupers appear so unassuming but are so, so deadly. They’re kinda like the really old update of Dwarf Fortress where for some reason their was a bug that made the humble carp one of the deadliest things in the whole game. And that’s a game with deadlier enemies than DD
SPOILERS FOR ENDGAME ENEMIES One thing I love about the Ascended Brawlers is the name of their attack! It's just a small thing obviously, but after seeing "Rend for the Old Gods" soooo many times, the name "Rend for the New God" caught me off guard. I like the implication that the cultists changed their allegiance and got new powers for it! I just love the lore crumbs in this game haha
this may be controversial but I love fighting Crimson Court enemies. I love their lore, designs, i'm a sucker for vampires (pun intended) and Darkest Dungeon has the coolest vampires i've ever seen in any game or work of fiction.
I've been having an easier time with the giant because I've been choosing to take arbalest and occultist there more than vestal. The fact that vestal can only move 1 in either direction is so hard to deal with in fights like the giant's, and I think the mark synergy between occultist and arbalest is really good in the weald. Also, I really love front line occultist now that you've showed it to me, but I only use him if I have a secondary healer. A crusader at the very least, hopefully arbalest.
That's the way to do it. Most people don't run a second healer with occultist then get mad when he rolls low. He shouldn't be your only healer, he needs help
The fungal ghouls or whatever they are called teach you early on to use bleed/blight or crits to take em out so that hateful virtago doesn't completely fuck you over in champion
Talking about slimes, i had a bloodmoon run recently where i met 3 of those guys (first encounter with them at that save file). It was my first turn i think and i was only able to kill 2/3 of them. "Easy" i thought, "it will use slime and i'm done next turn". Well... Ectoplasmic Profusion... and my frontline stunned... both of them, double crit. That was fun. It never happend to me earlier and i thought they are able to do this only when you're playing veteran+. As someone wise said "overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer". BTW nice videos. Thanks for your tutorials. You saved at least 1/4 of my heroes.
I used to play a few years back and never finished the game but for some reason I didn't ever think the spiders were bad. I started a new playthrough recently, (on radiant) and assumed things would be a lot easier. Lost two heroes to the blight spiders very early on. The crazy thing is the spider Crit the exact total amount of the antiquarians HP and the blight caused a deathblow.
Farmhand should be A just look at this other way its Farmstead. Farmhand are just classic Farmstead enemys they have everything that might be dangerous for you blight stress dmg but they are also really balanced if they gave you less stress it would just got outhealed by Jester to easy.Farmstead had to have this regular enemy and its done really good their look colors (they change from blue to green and thats really cool you might not notice that) farmer design. Its just fits color of madness dlc to good to have them in C.
Even worse about the slimes...They don't even drop loot! Edit: 47:22 I think you might be underestinating Esquires. If you let one of those guys get off a Skewering Rapartee, it can be pretty devastating. On higher difficulties especially, I find that you have to prioritize these guys over Chevaliers. I think Esquire is higher than C.
Man i hate spiders. I had a lvl 6 full Heath crusader at the start of a fight, and at round 2 he was blighted, at deaths door and stuned. 3 crits for 24 in a row and they dodged almost all my atacks (the only one that landed was for minimal damage obviously) and i know it was just me having a terrible luck, but Man, i still hate them beacouse of that
First time I encountered a group of em I was overconfident and thought they would all die quickly. They targeted my jester and killed him on turn one. I fled from that dungeon and have never underestimated any foe since.
I've played through darkest dungeon at least 3 or 4 times and I've never ever had trouble with the slimes so I don't really understand your problem with them I also hate chevaliers because they take forever otherwise good list
30:34 ahh slimes, reminds me of my first veteran weald where i spent like 24 turns trying to kill those pieces of shit only for them to keep summoning more each turn, it made me avoid the weald for a long time
Here's a complaint I have about this game. With most objects you come across, as soon as you drag the appropriate item into the object, the object resolves. Not so with obstacles. With those, you have to drag the shovel into the input box, then click it. I can't count the number of times I have dragged in the shovel, then unthinkingly clicked the interact icon, which then resolves the obstacle as if you had not dragged in the shovel. WTF was it coded this way?
Bone rabble is S tier because he's the perfect enemy to stall with 😂 always glad to see him in an enemy comp In some situations I don't even bother stunning him because with some healers you can even outheal his tiny damage (or if I'm lucky I just dodge it), and you might accidentally kill him too fast with crusaders bonk. Just hanging out with your skele bro as your team takes a quick breather ❤
If I see a stress enemy it's pretty guaranteed that I'm going to assualt them with everything I have but it becomes less of a battle calculation and more of a personal vendetta when that stress enemy is the madman... I absolutely despise them. I can become so petty when it comes to enemies that aren't just threats but they don't appear that way and then they mock you by making it way to difficult to end them. I know they are just a program but I deliberately stack as much bleed as possible while being as toxic as possible to them in my mind by calling them names and imaging their suffering. I really really don't like that enemy but the tier position does seem correct, even if I'd rather burn them from existence lol.
Hey Shuffle my dude, so I've been binging like every one of your videos; did you ever consider a Color of Madness endless farmstead guide, specifically team comps, strategies, etc. to get highest score possible? Or maybe you have one and I couldn't find it. Anyways thanks for all the content.
I think you should swap swine chopper with swine slasher. Chopper is i think one of the best balanced front line enemys in game its tanky it have stun and some dmg but you can stun it and its not as tanky as for example Pelagic Guardian from cove. Slasher is just boring it spams one attack and does a lot of dmg in all ranks. I'd rather got fcked by interesting Chopper that fits really good in swine (when i think of enemys in warrens he is cooming first to my mind) than boring Slasher spam one hit invisible shit that can crit me really hard.
Choppers have too much crit chance on all of their attacks, more prot than is warranted, and really bloated hp. They're annoying and not in the way that interesting but difficult enemies are annoying.
Hello Shuffle! I like your videos very much, but there's always one thing that kind of sets me off. I understand that you don't want to spoil the game for the new players, but I think you should not use these nicknames after you said, that there are spoilers ahead. Maybe its just me, but for some reason I just can't get over it. Beside this I like your content very much and hope that there will be more soon! Thank you!
@@ShuffleFM Shieldbreakers "mechanic", Viragos gimmick etc. Its like, we all know what you wanted to say, but you just don't say it, so its just annoying. Dont get me wrong, its really not a big deal, in all of your videos it is the only little thing that I dont 100% like
@@ShuffleFM For example, I live in Russia, and for some reason we do not use swear words in dubbing films, even if they are designed for an adult audience. The result is a situation where the word is replaced with something more harmless, but everyone, including the dubbing actors, understands what should be here. It's a little annoying, but it doesn't make the content much worse.
Love the vid, but I'm confused what your criteria is. Some some enemies that he says are very strong and threatening he puts in high tier but some go in low tiers. That would make me thing it's based on how well designed, fair, and cool they are. But, some enemies he claims to hate, like Ghoul, go into high tiers
the problem that i have with court enemies is them using the thirst 5 times in a row. Also, fuck chevs, 1 manservant 3 chevs made me lose 2 people lmao.
They would have to be mashes that put the big skeleton in ranks 2 and 3. I can't remember if that happens or not for these, but it does happen for uca crabs.
I had to quit this one after 2 of the bullshit fast and evasive stress nuke enemies and the prot-having full party stress nuke enemy got put in S tier. XP Like come on, the thing that just keeps smacking you with 20 stress at a time should not be going first 90% of the time AND be constantly dodging.
