I play against pro player, Howard Shu (‪@howeezy‬ ) at the Københavns Badminton Klub in Copenhagen during the 2023 BWF Badminton World Championship. Howard lost in the second round against Chou Tien Chen. In our match, Howard gave me lots of pro tips on what pro badminton players look for and focus on whilst showing me how and why pros are so good!
Go support Howard on his RU-vid channel too ‪@howeezy‬ !

Hi All, Based on the score of 21-2, 21-5 for CK against Howard Shu, I crunched some numbers based on the match scores at the BWF World Championships for Howard Shu vs. Chou Tien Chen, then Chou Tien Chen vs Viktor Axelson. By simply doing a points % of all the matches, and extrapolating the data for CK vs Viktor, by approximation, CK would not be able to get a single point on Viktor. (0.798 point in 42 rallies). my $0.02, you're welcome PS. useless approximation mathematics.

This was such an interesting video. And I loved how you set it up with the interview camera whilst the game footage was going on. The things I pick up on the most are the precise and composed footwork and the quality of shots toward the back of the court. The camera angle makes it easy to see how accurate those drives and clears to each rear corners are. Very impressive This is definitely the way to learn more about the sport and the intricate details needed to improve. Thanks and thanks to the pro player too 😁

its crazy, U.S #1 and within top 100 global Howard Shu compared to the average player is amazing. But then if you narrow it down to top 50/25/10, the gap in level becomes huge. There are just so many levels to this sport.

Interesting content. Was an amateur myself 35 years ago, could not continue because of my elbow, but love to watch badminton very much… I noticed as well that the round the head shots from Tai or Ratchanok or Akane are absolutely absurd. But they also have a very good backhand, that they hit across the whole court. There are interesting training videos that show how Tai works. Another good example is Tomoka Miyazaki, junior world champion women singles. She is so fast and powerful, yet looks so fragile. You have to begin very young, otherwise there is no way to get to pro level. As I said, great video, looking forward to the next ones…

I didn't fully listen to all the discussions. But one thing I noticed is the difference in physique/stamina. He is moving everywhere (and quickly) without getting tired whereas you struggled to follow his shots because you were not fast enough (probably got tired after a few rallies). In the end the one with the fresher legs will make the better shots

They’ve always gone into my check in luggage which is padded with clothes. However, if you’re competing, I would maybe recommend having 2 or 3 rackets in a cloth racket bag and carry them on as carry-on in case your check-in doesn’t arrive? 😬

I feel that when I am playing against a stronger opponent, I feel pressured to try those high-risks, high-reward shots. Otherwise, I lose in a normal rally. I feel like that's what An Se Young's opponents also feel when they have to fight her, we can see a lot more unforced errors than against other players.
