The cancelling super with PRC on Testament/Faust/etc were intentionally left in by ArcSystemWorks. These are now features, not glitches.

Ever since the buffs they gave her I’ve been enjoying baiken and feels like she’s in a perfect place right now.

I feel you glossed over how strong her parry actually is. Not only does it do the most damage out of all reversals in the game, which even rivals some reversal supers, but at 1f it can't be safejumped. The only meterless reversal that you can RC on whiff, AND you can option-select it. Not to mention, being a 236-input it's also the easiest and most accessible reversal to throw out when you're being pressured. I actually can't believe a move like that exists in strive.

I think Baiken is a cool character, but the fact that she is pretty simple and fast at mid-close range has made her one of my least favorite opponents. I know playing pro happy chaos or Nago would probably feel worse, but decent Baikens can do about half of what you showed and that offense is scary imo Great video as always tho, this was super insightful and I will use this to beat up more baikens in the future, have a good day king

She's good. I think I'd put her just behind Leo, in the pack of characters looking to round out the top 5.

baiken is really cool

I think something that i really enjoy about her that not many, if hardly any, characters have is her ability to full screen punish/apply pressure. granted it's locked behind 50 meter but some opponents have to be aware of using moves with a lot of recovery when she has Kenjyuu available. being able to full screen shoot an axle, HC, Goldlewis dropping drone or such is amazing for closing gaps and continuing the offense. with ground and air options as well as a massive, very active, hitbox it really fills out some strengths or covers weaknesses for her. Kenjyuu is much more versatile than I originally thought and i think does a great job of adding flavor to her kit.

What a great video, even though I dont play Baiken this was super interesting and the information was awesome. Lol gotta learn more about a character I hate playing against as a Chipp main, at worst its a 6/4 but honestly its not that bad. Would love to see more videos like this (post patch now of course) but Im sure they're a lot of work. Great job though!

My main gripe with Baiken is how Kabari is pretty much her universal combo finisher so every single combo route ends the same way. Being on the receiving end of that over and over with every Baiken is pretty boring. Not much room for player expression.

She’s a top 5 character. C.s into yojohnson or 2D on block is literally all you need. Add in a input that parries any attack (that you have to respect at all times) and Hibari (full screen with followups) and her tethered BS and she has one of the best tool kits in the game. Oh did I mention 2HS yet?

Baiken is a great all around character, may not be the tops of a tier list by numbers, but she is competitive.

She's pretty clearly strong, but not the toppest of the top tiers, which makes the next patch terrifying because it means she could get ArcSys buffed along with chars like Goldlewis lmao

I dig fighting Baiken, and I say that as an I-No player. It's far more interesting than fighting HC, Nago or Ram, even tho I know she is pretty strong vs I-No. Despite that, I still enjoy the matches as they force me to try things.

Baiken's been my favorite character in this series since she was a secret boss, and I'm glad we got her for Season 1. I feel like she's in a very solid place so the only thing I can hope is they give me something off the wall, like giving back Suzuran or Baku lol

all im hearing on this video is "yes, she got those" someone explain how a character that has some of the highest damage combos, always gets a 50/50, has the fastest meter gain, yolo neutral jump in 50/50, parry(why does it do so fucking much damage wtf) and good conversion is not considered top tier by some

@LordKnight Do you mind posting these questions in the description or the comments that way we can better asses the strengths and weakness of characters we play or others?

I think her biggest issues are her match ups, it's not so much that the top 5 exists, more than Ky/Test/Faust do, or anyone with large buttons for that matter. Considering "good" is a relative term for me here, I'm basing this strictly off brackets, in that her bad MUs aren't so much the top tiers as much as they are something that strictly counters her. For as good a button as F.S is, 2D can counter it, and there's a plethora of air-to-airs that can outplay j.s if they get a read. I don't think she could use a buff as much as she needs a way to access her wincon better, I'd like to see more ways to link into S-kabari, or just some straight up movement speed. Good video.

I've been maining Millia and I'm looking to learn a new character, I've tried May, Testament, Bridget and Giovanna. I'm a really bad player and I feel down everytime I get my ass whooped 90% of my games, maybe I don't practice enough or just bad decisions during a match.. sighs.. I think I'll give Baiken a go and if all fails, I might as well give up.. 😢

@LordKnight baiken doesn't have a single overhead. She's strike throw. Inferior to sol. She can't build plus frames. She can't do anything after a knockdown since dp beats all of her options (except parry but that has 3 frames which will cause her to whiff 99% of the time). She mostly relys on the most annoying disjoints in strive. J.S, 2S, and youzansen. Spammed non stop. That's what makes her mid tier instead of bottom tier. Those 3 moves are the only moves baiken mains need since the only counter to them is dp.

Her high damage doesn't feel unfair, even in corner. When I lose to Baiken making a comeback with a single RC and less than half meter, know that my opponent worked for that comeback.
