I use izotopes Nectar, Neutron and Ozone on every mix...and its not at all about not wanting to learn from scratch. Its just extremely convenient to have most of your mixing tools that you will be using anyways inserted with one click and all in one window (with a lot of more advanced features as well) The "AI" part of it is cool as long as you arent just going with the setting it "recommends" every time and just calling ot good. But it usually give you a decent starting point where its done about 50% of the work for you, right off the bat.
Agree :D it's for convenience & saving time. You still can know what to do all of the stuff separately but these tools give you so much time ahead saving you time & money in the process haha.
That's a whole lot of money they're asking and there's no demo version. There only seems to be a small number of actual AI things going on for EQ and "mastering". Something like this you need a demo version to get you past the BS marketing and see what it can really do and what it's not so great at. I'm very suspicious that there's no demo. I've got Sonible's Smart bundle and Izotope's Neutron etc, like a lot of people. Why would anyone just buy this without trying it out?
Something like this; I’d utilize it by processing audio in their own project files and exporting the processed stems. I just purchased it - but I can already tell that this isn’t gonna work as it’s marketed. (Meaning: I won’t be using this in a ‘full mix’ project). But as a saturation and compression tool, I’ll mess with it and try to figure out some percs about it. (My method of mixing and mastering is a bit unconventional anyways - I do process every sound or group by its own project file and yadadada - long story short I have all of my ‘raw audio’ and every processed stem as well - essentially keeping and printing everything out - instead of risking overrunning). (Then I’ll bring in the routed channels such as Inst Bus Drum Bus Bass Bus and Vocal Bus and do all of the gain staging and summing in a separate project file). Edited to say: for some reason I have more consistency between records on an album or a project by mixing everything in seperate project files like this.
If that system works for you it's alright, is just a matter of what works best for you, me on the other hand I like to commit to sounds, export them with the plugins printed and get to mixing, I finish more songs that way. I found the amp sims cool too on this thing, the overall effects too, saturation, modulation, stuff like that & simple to set up.
Not sure why, i took the plunge even tho it’s not something i need as i have plenty of options and some mixing skills.. must have been too much spare time on a sunday.. have had a few issues with presets not loading properly in projects, so yeah wish there’d been a demo
The non demo options left a bad taste in my mouth also. Plus they don’t have much in the way of packs to support the product. These assholes have done this with other releases also. I am currently boycotting all their products. I can get by without them.
