Barcelona? They need guy who fits in with the inverted winger system they're playing and mount can also play in midfield. And if he's "FREE" then definitely barcelona 😂
United fan. I came across this video while trying to find out what he is about. Very pleasantly surprised by the level of analysis, and objectivity. Subscribed.
Although he may leave in the summer, his contributions shall not be forgotten. Our player of the season for 2 seasons in a row and a player who always gives it his all. Wherever he goes, his future shall be bright. Will heavily depend on the wishes of the new manager.
@@noidegsegom4091 bohley doesn't want to pay him the bread he thinks he deserves. He will leave to get what he considers fair remuneration for his talent.
@@mm2801 lol bruno is a phenomenal player bud! And mount is not too far behind him in a lot. It’s a good signing. We desperately need some other positions filled, but we are better off having him than we were when we didn’t have him.
Great take! Finally a sensible take on Mount! Lots of nuance that is never acknowledged by other analysts and Chelsea fans, making this so controversial a topic 😅
Wijnaldum role is a good comparison because at times Wiji was cowardly too & he didn't show for the ball/never looked to make a brave progressive pass and seemed to be more of a help each team mate out rather than have specialised tasks that he had to perform with little margin for error. Mount is similar, I'd say quite a few players fall into that bracked, you can't afford to have too many of those- Bentancur, Willock, Macallister, Tolliso etc, they never get singled out for a bad performance because them failing isn't as clear to the eye as a specialist failing.
Mount has better pass and body position/off the ball movements than Gini though, Gini was a beast in tracking back, counterpressing situations and scored many goals but from crosses or low cross passes (something mount doesn't do). As for MacAllister he is better at dribbling than the other 2 and he just sometimes plays too safely still good nonetheless. haven't seen any midfield 3 from the Prem dribbling as much as Alexis does.
Wijnaldum played reserved at liverpool because that was the role Klopp wanted from him, whenever he played with the netherlands he went forward more and took more risks. liverpool’s system doesn’t require goal scoring or creativity form the CMs. We rely on forwards for scoring and fullbacks for assists.
He was fantastic in those first few months under Tuchel and was even good for some period into Tuchel 2nd season, but it all fall apart once James/Chilwell went down injured. Still, he can obviously be quality in the right set up and with the right manager. Newcastle is a very good shout and can see him do well there.
People keep saying he's best as an 8 but I'm not so sure tbh. Doesn't really have the positional discipline to play deeper in the midfield and goes chasing after the ball too much. Also, his passing in the buildup phase leaves much to be desired. He's an interesting case to be sure. Anyways, what is your next video after this? If you don't mind, my suggestion would be Diaby from the Bundesliga since his Arsenal links are growing. Or perhaps Jurrien Timber since Ten Hag is likely going back for him in the summer. Excellent work as always. 😊
@@limaontoby3300have you ever watched Mount? His defensive stats surely will put him in the 95th percentile of Central Midfielders and higher as an Attacking Mid.
I’d take him at Liverpool. I know people think he’s fallen off, but didn’t we all think Rashford fell off? And look how well he’s done under a new manager with some different players? Point is great players can have their careers stagnated by factors beyond their control. Perhaps Mount is another instance of this.
@@sebasbandera I do think it’s super high, especially for a player who’s not gonna sign an extension. Ideally, I’d have preferred more like 50 mil instead of 70, but at the end of the day all I really care about is the quality of talent. No untalented player should be bought, so if we think Mount can add to our talent pool, im for it. Plus when you consider we got Gakpo for something of a discount, it kind of balances out.
@@SixDrums rashford is still the same player, his performances haven't really improved only his goal output. He still has the same flaws: poor decision making; poor touches; poor passing; overrunning his dribble and worst of all still greedy. High G/A doesn't equal good play.
@@mm2801 More like Rashford had 1 bad season and people turned on him. He was absolutely world class before his back injury, and still performed very well in 20/21 playing through injury. Utter rubbish comment lol, and clearly didn't watch Rashford in seasons prior to last, or are one of those troll United fans
@@tombrady5587 G/A doesn't equal good performances. He still has the same flaws: poor touches;poor passes;running down blind alleys; poor defensive effort ; selfish play. Don't let the goals cloud your judgement. You should watch whole matches and not just the highlights sir!
For me he is best suited to playing as an 8 and then to a 10. He makes a good inside forward but he is ideal on the left of a midfield 3, would suit Liverpool perfectly right now.
For me as a inside forward in one off cup games, he can definitely do a job but as a fixed role - he is too easy to play against. The role you suggested is a better long term fit for him imo 👍
People think playing as an 8 is easy . Sometimes you need tenacity and bite to help cover up distance for the team . Been a complete box to box is different from been a roaming 8 . KDB x mount x Bruno are all roaming 8 . Who can do a good job as a 10 too . More natural 10 can be Erisken x odegaard etc . United needs more of a dominant traditional 8 with a midfield bite like caicedo x Jude x kovacic. I’m taking mount at united if united is supplementing that with another CM who can do casemiro job like caicedo
@@limaontoby3300excellent. In this current man utd midfield, they need someone that can make those short distance passes and in tight spaces, as well as line breaking passes. I don’t see how Mount fixes or helps with this in the United team
@@youngbeats4984 Erisken doesn’t play it perfectly mate , man city x Liverpool all ran thought out midfielder without any issue come on what game have you been watching?
Feel like the video misses Mount’s greatest attribute - which there appears to be very little data available, but clubs do have data and algorithms to quantify this - and that’s his off ball movement and appreciation of space. It’s something Roberto Firmino was probably the best in the league at as a forward and I do believe Mount is one of the best in the league at it as a midfielder. I’ve said for about 12 months now he should be used like Valverde at Madrid and I genuinely believe he’s Henderson’s ideal replacement at Liverpool, who for years was ‘misbranded’ as a 6 when he was really an old school right midfielder. I think Mount is similar in that he’s neither a 6 nor a 10, but doesn’t really fit the traditional profile of an 8 in the league. I can see him thriving in Liverpool’s system in the role Klopp has been asking Harvey Elliott and now Henderson to occupy, which is a bit of a ‘free role wide 8/10’ where he leads the press and attacks space in overloads and transitions. Liverpool have never really used the classic playmaking 10 role, but Lijnders in his book often refers to Henderson as ‘our 10’, with the free role being used more in defensive situations and in off ball runs and movement. These types of players are essential to system football.
We cover his movement via the crossing section and also the goal scoring section where we talk about his timing of runs and inside to outside movement to get into crossing positions. Agree with your post thiughh
@@PythagorasinBoots I watched and enjoyed the video, I was more highlighting that it’s something that isn’t showing up in any kind of ranking or data which the screenshots were showing, of course it was touched on but it’s difficult with the lack of data available to truly show the impact. There was an interesting piece on The Athletic titled ‘Roberto Firmino has been a transformative player for Liverpool - this is why’ where somebody had built a model to quantify space creation and the results were staggering. We all know Liverpool and Will Spearman look closely into these kind of models and algorithms and without having seen any of the data, it does feel like Mount is an ode to Liverpool’s analytical approach to signings. He might not be staggering to watch when he’s on the ball, he might not have the highest bracket of technical ability, but he is good, his attitude excellent and his versatility should be vital to Klopp’s often underrated ability to tweak things throughout the season.
I wouldn't say killer pass is a strength, he continues to make the wrong decisions in the final third and can be trigger happy. I often see him choose to shoot instead of playing in a teammate in better positions, as a Chelsea fan i think it's better for him to leave for Liverpool, i don't think he's irreplaceable
Continues to make wrong decisions in final third yet has the highest chance creation + assists for Chelsea and top 5 in the league. You Mount haters really just say anything
Rashford literally disappears in most of our games but no one scrutinises him because he is English, 2022 - 2023 season he scored only 5 goals, you immediately became dump because it was a local lad. You people hate foreign players
Mount is 10/10 if you cherry pick his highlights and ignore everything else. He's always been a consistent 6/10. His best attribute is his work rate, but I'd not expect big performances every week
Now I see why Ten Hag wants him. Our we need better pressing and ball-winning players. Id definitely prefer mount over Eriksen but I don’t know if I’d want him in the same midfield as Bruno Fernandez. He also can play without Bruno Fernandez because we need his creativity.
Seems like Ten Hag is looking to combine Fred's press and interception with Eriksen's killer pass in Mount. If we can sell Fred and McTominay and get Mount for 50 million, I think it is quite logical
@@Lekurishkun yeah that’s exactly what I felt like we needed was Fred’s energy and press with Eriksens on the ball ability. Also Eriksen has missed a lot of goal opportunities he should of scored that hopefully Mount could put away. My only concern is we need an upgrade on casemiro in the 6 then because we’re going need more quality on the ball in that position if we are going to play advanced 8s but I think he’s working around that by getting Kim min Jae who is an elite passer of the ball from deep and using him and Martinez to build up play and maintaining control by having highly technical cbs because we don’t have a regista
@@ewitdakey8683 finding an upgrade to Casemiro will be so tough since nobody is better than him in #6. No player on the market is having the quality he possess for now. I hope our academy and scouts can do the job.
Not to mention, EtH will instil that discipline in him, will coach him to become better. Did anyone of Man Utd fans think Fred will have the season he had? He was diabolical last season and this season he improved a lot, so did McTominy, so Yes, I can be certain Mount will become better with EtH as his coach.
@@MansOT- I'm a Barcelona fan and I don't agree with you. They're different profiles and in some areas, Gavi is better and in some, Mount is better. Overall, Mount is more experienced atm but I think Gavi has a higher ceiling
Feel like theres was more context or details to talk about in his game with this analysis. He was more of an attacking mid under Tuchel than an inside forward, he would drop into the channels and occupy the half spaces too. I feel like you just took Mount for how he was used under Tuchel, without realising that, Tuchel's use of Mount, doesnt define the player over all. There where lots of other aspects to mention about his game
Really good video, i agree on most points and you backed them up with stats but his vision.. it is not good st all. His tunnel vision hinders all our other attackers
I beg to differ on the goalscoring point. Mount actually has more goals than Lampard and Gerrard respectively had for Chelsea and Liverpool at the same point in their careers
That last part bothers me. To compare Mount to a player that can do what Mount does but even as a RB? Valverde has that Lampard sense for Goals outside the box. Power shots. Speed. Passing. Link up play. To compare Mount to Valverde is an abomination. In conclusion in this video you said that Mount is an meh player who survives on running errands for the coach? Fairs.
I always think that Mount is a super talented player just that he doesn't want to be a standout star for his team just like a debruyne I don't know maybe it's because of his low confidence level that he can be the main star midfielder for his team. I think he just needs to be spending more time in the attack than always coming to defense. He needs to believe that he can be that star player for the team I mean that he can carry the team. Cus if it's for the abilities he's got it in bountiful.
I can’t see him developing that mindset at Chelsea as you’re always looking to bring in big stars on big money - even KDB felt overwhelmed in that sense at the Bridge.
He is just like de jong, an all rounder thats niche and hard to place inside a team. But unlike de jong he is a more of a phase 2-3 player. To be honest, im excited to see him play in man u as a 8 besides casemiro and bruno. It will be interesting to see how mobile that team will be.
he'd be excellent for united. similar to eriksen in the 8 who has the energy to press. he's a champions league winner and team player of good character.

MM @ManUtd with their X’analysis coaching setup, and a progressive manager in ETH would bring him out of his shell, and become the standout player, that the England manager, saw in MM…
Mount should find this form at United when the season starts. He’s one to watch but would need broad shoulders to carry the weight of that United 7 shirt.
We as well need Mason Mount, his a good business footballer, I pray the deal gets confirmed just soon🎉🙏🎆 Then still on Greenwood, Let him be allowed to start playing matches... This is really too much. We're really missing this young talented player. I need Erik ten Hag to see his performance in matches, then he will know his being missing out on a player for long now. That young talent needs to compete with Anthony in that attacking left position. I bet the coach it's gonna be a superb competition for the both player's... There will be great result from both this time. 💗💗💗💗💗
kova, enzo and mount would still be a good mid 3. Kante, Enzo and Mount too, but I think he might want more minutes and leave after sucking the bench all games during potter's time
I dont know, as a chelsea fan he’s never been good enough on the ball, tends to make poor decisions in the final third and can’t dribble well consistently. Maybe it’s just me being cynical but if i take away emotion from his great fun under lampard and the ucl campaign, he’s just not the worth the contract he wanted
Me too, I disagree with Pythagoras on Mount having vision. There are FAR more examples of Mount having a great pass forward and instead he'll choose a pass that will increase the time to get to goal. I understand not every pass needs to be a forward pass, but there are instances where the best pass is forward and he chooses another.
Well we did say in his possession section he’s a bit of a backwards passing merchant who fails to progress the game when it is on. Paradoxically also a good killer passer when he does decide to use it
@@PythagorasinBoots yea I can agree with that, you did mention that he sort of passes the buck/ responsibility to progress the game. He's a little inconsistent when actually playing the pass. It's odd because he doesn't have phases in a game that other players might. He'll be great for a few games, making good passes, runs etc. (unfortunately these periods don't last long), but then he'll have games where his pass execution is awful. But with time, he may get to a point where he can string together many games of good passing execution but that's difficult to say.
Chelsea fan here and I think he would absolutely thrive at Liverpool, I'll be happy if we get Man U to pay 70-80 million but it would be the wrong move for United and for Mount.
