I think invincibility should also reduce the amount of stun you receive from items or the time you stay small during the shock. That would make it a more relevant stat
For balance that would definitely help, especially with calculating how much this stat actually affects things. Right now it's too hard to tell how much you should actually worry about the invincibility stat
I agree, although it'd have to be small because that would be broken fast. Like max invincibility should be maybe 70% of the stun of minimum. At the very least, I wish the current stat at least visually showed you how long you're invincible. Like use the classic "blinking invincibility" that's been in Mario games for over 30 years.

One thing I like about max invincibility is that Petey can be used for it. I don’t use that combo, but it’s funny to see one of if not the biggest character(s) have one of the biggest hitboxes with the highest invincibility. Petey’s going for the opposite of what he wants and the exact thing he wants at the same time Also “I should win on Big Blue not because I’m blue, but because I’m BIG!” Is probably one of the funniest Shortcat Statements
max ground speed = complete min ground speed = complete max acceleration = complete min acceleration = complete max weight = not complete min weight = not complete max ground handling = complete min ground handling = complete max traction = not complete min traction = not complete max mini turbo = complete min mini turbo = not complete max invincibility = complete min invincibility = complete These are just some ideas so that you know which max and minimum stats combos you have used or not used. I will edit this comment every time one of these new combos is used. Shortcat does not have to do these ideas but these are some options. I FREAKING LOVE SHORTCAT :)
Dylan has mastered the art of commentary. That's why so many of us are addicted to these videos even when there is no topic. Like, take me for an example, I don't even play MK8D but I can easily watch his videos before falling asleep or while having a meal.
Did you hear about Nintendos second update? (after wave 6). They noticed people who didn't bag still didn't get power items as often - so they updated it again. Among other minor fixes to specific tracks
@@rconmaster It was either glider at Vancouver Velocity or Singapore Speedway. And something about the Statues in Daisy Circuit as well as Rome Avanti it was possible to get stuck somewhere

I feel like a recovery stat would have been better than an invincibility stat like even if max “recovery” just meant you recover a couple frames faster after getting hit

I've been subscribed to the channel since the first video, I don't even play Mario Kart! This is the only Mario Kart channel that I watch, and I liked it since the beginning because not only is it gameplay but in almost every video I learn something new about the game. You do amazing Shortcat! ^^
The reason high invincibility comes into play so infrequently is because you're so big and invincible that nobody even tries to hit you with items, they're scared of your power.

It's been a week that i'm using a new combo (yoshi - tanooki kart - cushions - cloud) because i'm getting too much mariokarted sometimes so i wanted a higher invicibility (3.5 for the actual combo), and surprisingly, it fits pretty good with my way to use it (and the speed/miniturbo rate is the same as with catcruiser and GLA tires) so i'm very satisfied of it because, for example twice the invicibility frame helped me to stay 1st (the runner behind me threw me a red shell that touch me and close after, the blue shell that didn't made any damage on me but hit the 2nd place instead ^^ ), the only negative point is the lack of acceleration of the combo (3.5 but it's not that bad either)
That's actually a great combo for its stats, i just don't like how the cushion tires are bouncy. After landing from a high place they can give you some brief air time which could mess up your drifting. I actually considered maining cushion tires before I found out about this.
I tried creating an "Optimal high invincibility" car and its my main now. Diddy Kong, Cat Cruiser and Sponge tires. It's 8 speed and 15 miniturbo, so you basically trade one miniturbo for 10 invincibility (The meta car is 8S and 16MT). I never get comboed into last place anymore 🤣, highly recommend people try it out!
I think you mean 17 MT and 18 MT for the combos you mentioned! I always remember that the max speed + MT sum is 26. The combo is great but I would go with Kamek over diddy kong to not sacrifice the sum! That would be 10 speed + 16 MT
@@Shortcat321 😭You're right, i always forget to calculate in the stats from the parachute! I chose Diddy over Kamek because i wanted to preserve as much miniturbo as possible, but you're right that you're sacrificing one stat into the void for a mere sum of 25! Still think preserving 1MT over 2S is better, but i dont really know the mario kart maths so correct me if im wrong!
This combo/invincibility definitely feels like it excels when you are in the middle when everyone has a star, bullet bill, etc. Like it somewhat counters a lot of items in specific scenarios. 17:34 is a perfect example.

today i tried the standard quad on a whim and was amazed when i survived spaced triple reds with only 1 hit taken - it literally caused me to win the race instead of getting karted like shortdog. I am now here to preach that by just switching your vehicle to badwagon (apparently its exactly the same as quad, but more invincibility), it could be enough to completely screw over your opponents' sense for invincibility (the meta combo has basically none). I genuinely believe just a few seconds of invincibility is the sleeper meta
I really want to see a challeneg where you play this game while solving a bunch of rubiks cubes at the same time. I think that's a pretty uniqye challeneg that no one else has done before
Forced bagging isn't any more or less stupid than saying front running. What you're doing is racing (what you're supposed to do in this game) with the goal of leading.

I played MKDD recently with a friend, and during a race I happened to dodge a blue shell and a red shell just by going in and out of drift, watching these shells pass me by the slightest of margins lol😱
I got an interesting video idea, to play every combo shown in the MK8 Deluxe opening screens like for example: Bowser, Standart Quad and Monster tires! Would be fun to see what's ''the best one'' of those combos.
Here's a really difficult video idea, the opposite of waiting at the beginning, "Can i win if i wait 10 seconds at the end of the race?", basically having an advantage of 10 seconds over your opponents.
I don't think I knew about that hidden invincibility stat. I assumed all characters had the same amount of s, so that is pretty interesting. Though, it seems like it might only benefit you in specific scenarios. Like maybe it could help to not get juggled too hard by multiple items or even potentially saving you from the Blue Shell blast zone.
the clip where you were invincible and got hit by a bullet is pretty impressive, but you also got hit by a red shell during that same invincibility after hitting the banana as well. you can see the shell fragments in the slowed down clip if you look closely.
Switching to the imposter’s character and then beating them with that character on your first try was such an epic power move. 🤣 And not only beating them, but getting 1st. That was just perfection 👌😂
Comes out of bullet and immediately yeets green shell and hits Shortcat straight on like a boss. Still ended up losing a place to Shortcat. The feelings

Lil Sludga - item that throws like a red shell, if it it hits someone, it do nothing but cover them in gunk until somebody rams them then they get super-rammed
