Thanks for the vid, because my car is lowered on sticky tires with track pads and motul 400 fluid, I kill it on track with my hellcat. Glad you gave it a shot but yes the stock tires and springs aren't good at all for track duty

I own a Challenger for an everyday 140 mile drive to and from work. I bought it because it's what I consider a luxury coupe. Never thought of a 4000 lb top heavy ride like it to do much cornering. Always figured that's where the Camaro's shine. Good job keeping it on the track.

I use to work across from Chrysler in Brampton when these were being built Love the Black on purple Every day there was one pastel color come out off on the trailers The Hellcat was 4 months behind upon release A neighbor and former auto worker co-worker worked there The first black on orange RT 10 that got sold out of Georgetown (neighboring town) came to my shop with 10 km. Dirt parking lot beside Lafarge. Not a speck of dirt on it. One hell of a car, but alot of car for sure The guy that bought it had a Sublime greet 440 magnum charger to He was a Big Boy 250-280 lbs

Doris that's pretty much what I expected from your track review. I love my Mopars but they are not the best road course oriented cars (except the Viper). Hopefully the Challenger ACR comes out this year and proves that a Challenger can indeed be really good on a road course. Great video and thank you for sharing!

Yup.. it did as I expected. Better tires would have made it corner better without getting into suspension. I have no doubt an ACR version of the Challenger would be a threat. I'll be curious to see all the changes. Thanks for watching.

Awesome stuff, really glad to see you're enjoying your cars. If there's one thing I think you can benefit from, it's to not tilt your head to the side when cornering, keep your eyeline level and look at the apex and through the turns, you will feel more confident.

Thank you! Yes, the issue is I need to fight to keep myself still in the seats. They don't hold you well and it doesn't help the weight shifts the car and you lol. I do much better in my other cars.

I have 2020 SS 1LE and I was looking forward to a track video with the Redeye! As big and heavy as it is, it looks like fun ridiculous car to track haha. Maybe consider swapping out the tires for something better and give it another go! Thanks for sharing Doris!

Yes princesa, i love when you wheelspin, take the hellcat back at the loney road and wheel spin without holding the brake and practice to correct the skid when it goes sideways. All you do is steer in the direction where the rear of the car goes and you just regulate the RPM. Also i like to help you to rebuild the engine. Hope you remember the basics of the four stroke cycle to set up the engine valve timing before disassembling the timing chain. So wheelspin for me princesa.

It's is a true muscle car (horsepower) straight line monster, but you knew that. Definitely focus on the 1/4 mile in the redeye. Looked like a beautiful day and a great opportunity to get your mind off the shelby for now, thanks for sharing!!!!

as long as you have the front end grip think about front to rear track ratio because on heavy cars it can make a world of difference with turn in, you may lose a bit of mid corner grip but your entry speed and how much tighter the feel is worth it, I used to track a Z32 300zx another heavy car and widening the front track by 10mm made corner entry much more satisfying, but with all things if you enjoy it , it doesnt matter how fast you were ( nah it does lol )

Love that you took it to the track to experience it in that environment...but yes weight is the enemy and grip is key...otherwise I think your right about drag racing it... from what I’ve seen about the car from other youtubers who have hellcats at the drag strip is trouble with the launch and tire spin...if you can figure that out and get it to hook properly, watch out!!! Mid tens should be the goal!, good luck !!

Thanks! I had fun with it and got to experience the Hellcat in this environment. Grip is always key..everywhere. I believe I can make the 10's easy with a wheel and tire. My goal is break into 9s and then go from there ;) Thanks for watching!

Of course, one does have to admit the Redeye is designed for the drag strip and is not a track car. I'm looking forward to when you take the GT350 back to the track. Keep on keeping on! 👍

I had to make a custom setting in the SRT drive mode to get around the track. Street, Sport, even Track modes were.... ok... but it just wouldn’t feel right til I made my own 👍

Doris, awesome job tracking the car, ya the car is heavy and you can feel it, but they really built the car for drag racing, when you take your car to the drag strip get some drag radials 18 or 17 inch wheels with Mickey Thompson street R , don’t waste your time with stock street tires, specially with those, when I took my hellcat out on a prep track it was still loosing traction and two passes later I just went home and ordered drag radials. Problem solved 10.80 @129 all day

I was thinking the same thing about the tires. Pirelli Scorpion Verdes are all season, which you actually LOSE grip unlike R compound or summer tires. I installed a set on a 15 hellcat charger when I worked at a Chrysler dealer and the grip was non existent due to cold weather and the red key. And being the rack is electric, nothing really can be modified with that either. Have you considered a dedicated set of racing wheels and tires?

The tires are terrible to begin with. I will say if they were stickier, the car would have performed better. So having that limitation forced me to lay back on the pedal going out of the turn and slowing down way more to go into one. Steering was a dead feel, hard time placing the front tires, at least moving them with smoothly. As for a dedicated set, not likely. Perhaps in the future I can build the hellcat with track in mine, but that would be after I build the drag set up first.

Like your videos, trying to inspire my 9 year old granddaughter. She loves cars and going to the track with me. I am a fellow Hellcat Redeye owner and I know that this car wasn't really built for and won't compare to a GT 350 or 1LE on a Road Course, but I think you would be surprised how capable they can be with a professional driver. I recommend checking out the "free to SRT Buyers" one day driver's course at Bondurant Racing School in Arizona. Great and fun course and those drivers will do things with a HC that will surprise even experienced and trained drivers. You should check out Bondurant and maybe do a video of it. Keep up the great content and being a role model for girls that love cars...

A couple times my car slid out on me when I wasn't racing and wasn't expecting it, just coming out of a side street onto a main road, the cars slid out, both times when making a right turn, Eco mode and not even pressing that hard on the gas.

Thank you. Yes, it was a pain, but fun. I learned a lot and had a good time trying it out. It could do better if you work on it. The GT-R was fine. No boost issues that day. I was just checking to see if I have the proper brake reservoir adapter for a flush.. I did not lol. So I ordered one.

Every track day is a learning experience and makes you a better driver, having very different rides helps you appreciate all of them. As far as the seats go, you're not 300 lbs which helps when it comes to filling out the seats. Not a goal to aspire to tho

Yup..all tracks and cars provide that. Jumping from different cars allows me to learn a lot more than just one, but the issue is, I expect performance I can carry over from one to the other..no likely lol. I just know the Hellcat is at the bottom compared to the ones I've tracked: ZL1 1LE, Shelby and the GT-R.. Seats are terrible..lol. For the track that is.

Well I guess you can run the Redeye on the strip and Shelby (post rebuild) on the track and leave it at that, although another set of tires should make a noticeable difference. Glad you can take a break from wrenching and have some down time fun.

Suggestion. you keep your windows closed. if you roll the car, you WILL put your arm out of the window to try and stop you - it is instinct - that is why you see the nets on many race cars if they do not have windows. if you put your arm out, you will likely lose it.

Are you talking about Arizona motorsports park ? We haven't been yet, but want to check that place out sometime if that's what you were referring to. I'm really surprised that it didn't pass their test, but especially if it's still stock and don't remember any vid that you put out replacing it yet. I've been in a Hellcat, but didn't think that the whining would be loud enough to get axed at the track and is over the top Mopar style all the way lol. My Challenger SRT8 is NA, but the racing pipes that I got on her are loud as hell and don't know if it would pass. Do you remember what the decibel limit is by chance ? I think it's ridiculous, but must have residence close by and had complaints. We like to go to wild horse and are located in Chandler, so it's close by and convenient to go 🏁💜🏁. To be fair to the redeye, its not engineered for a track and are great for the drag strip/cruising very comfortabley

I guess the line of cars at the end are in a pro category because they looks and sound amazing. I enjoyed so much, I completely understand you, that you wanted to test the car to see how it behave at the road course, that's completely acceptable, I would have done the same, now I'm looking forward to see it where it belongs, that is the 1/4 mile, but I guess they don't do drag nights so often in Arizona. Thanks! yes, the ZL1 was trying to prove it's worth lol. The last race was a pro comp race. Those guys are really fast. The Hellcat can actually be a good track car, if you do things to it. But, that is not my goal this time around. They have an event once or twice a month, I just haven't gone. I don't want to waste an event on stock tires. I have a private one coming up soon. By then, I should have my wheels\tires and some extra goodies installed. Thanks for watching!

Doris, Try putting Michelin Pilot 315's on the Hellcat. Plus some suspension frame stiffeners. like they use at Bob Bondurant racing school. (They use modified Challengers for track days)

The best thing I heard you say was that it was the last time you are gonna take to the track and you are going to take to the drag strip. That's what it was built for. I think th gt350 is the best track car

The issue wasn't so much the handling.. I can manage that, it's the transfer of weight and the awful tires lol. But no biggie..time to make this go fast in a straight line.

Nothing wrong with just going out to have fun; I mean, you only live once! That does suck about not making it on cause of the noise restrictions though; wish you were down here in SE Texas (Houston area) as we have 3 good tracks within a 4 hour drive or less and none of them have ever given anyone I know trouble about noise (they don't even test you for noise levels, and we've had some loud cars over the years). No shame in not being able to keep a GT350 or ZL1 at bay, cause they're monsters on a track! I track an 08 GT500 and even with all the suspension mods i've done I still can't outcorner those cars. Curious, what tire were you running and what sizes?

Nope..nothing at all. It was fun for what it was. The noise is an issue, but only for that track. Glad I still have others. I knew the GT350 and ZL1 would out corner me, it's just the nature of those cars. Stock vs stock it's not a competition around corners. 08 GT500, nice. I'm sure it handles better than most ;) Tires were stock all seasons perrelli 305/35/20.

Yup. Sticky tires, lower and slightly stiffer suspension, weight-loss and a bit of rear down force. It will absolutely perform way way better than most would expect.

Trust me, it's not about the right driver. Any more power you put down put of a corner or going into one, you risk over steering way more than you think. Thanks!
