Loved the guests. Derrick knew what he loved for food. That was great. He knew his steak and seafood and his son was right in there with you guys. Wishing him luck on his soccer game. Another great Jason was there ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for the review. Lived in Brookfield for some time, and i can't believe that is one restaurant we have not been to. Need a review on Five OClock Steakhouse! 😁
Coerpers used to be soon good, but idk that I’d go back. I’ve had some bad experiences since 2020.. it was so good prior to 2010 until the head chef, Rich left.
You might be thinking of front and back service where you see a lot of teamwork. What you had was a server w an assigned section. She's on her own working her tables .
Yes, but each restaurant has their own set of skills and strengths. Everyone has the opportunity to learn from each other when the entire team works together as a unit.
Jason... Great Video... Loved the friendship... Extra opinion... Honestly... 3.5... For what was paid...For what You guys were served... Encluding the Dirty glass and the warm wine..??? The service...was a +++...
@JasonWasThere. Or they would have licked it off, wiped their dirty rag over it, brought it back and said it was a new glass! I for one, never send any food back, l had a friend who was a server, oh the stories I've heard. I do scrutinize my utensils though, and have requested clean silverware before, but food l never do, l just won't eat it. You never know what you'll get back! I enjoy this channel, you give great reviews!
I guess…. It’s a shame that’s where the world is now we have worry about such things! Is it too much to ask for a clean glass at $36 a glass?!? And she still got tipped pretty well. Go figure!
$18 for that onion soup... and here I thought they were taxing for the dishwashers cut, but no, that was the cleanest bowl I have ever saw for French onion soup! Cool to see folks keeping in touch post-college and catching up and breaking bread together. Wholesome little intimate dinner convo was a perk of the restaurant review, and that's what sets you apart from the 1000 other foodie channels! (And why I keep returning!) Well done! Or should I say "medium rare"? 😉
There's no doubt that keeping in touch with friends is important. In order to get a real feel for the restaurant, I wanted Derek to give his perspective as well as mine! Haha. Thanks
If they know how to cook a filet it's charbroiled just to get markings then baked to med or med rare whatever you like or some places grill the outside then bake .but if they charbroil there thicker steaks from start to finish it's usually over cooked on the outside..so it really depends if the chief knows what there doing..
I grilled a HUGE Porterhouse, Asparagus, and Mexican Grilling Onions and baked some potatoes yesterday. Right when you were saying that the more sour cream the better I had sour cream in my hand putting it on a baked potato I warmed up for breakfast. I put on another big scoop for you brother !!
I love your reviews...but I think sometimes your too hard on a restaurant because you've eaten in restaurants all over the world the very best. I think you have to look at the areas your eating in. But I really enjoy these reviews....your the BEST..thank you!!
Derrick looks more like Aaron. But Derrick is much better looking. The steaks looked good. I wouldn't eat the other stuff well except the baked potato. Thanks Jason for the review. Have a wonderful Thursday. ❤🥰❤
Grizzly house in Banff! I might go in a few weeks for my bday. I should try their French onion soup when I go! Anyway I mentioned this place before. Maybe if you come visit Alberta in the summer. Thanks
Okay, I heard you mention Manny's in Eden Prairie, and I checked your content, didn't see anything, so my request is Manny's Steakhouse downtown Minneapolis. IDK about Eden Prairie, but the OG Manny's downtown on Marquette, and also the Fogo de Chao downtown Minneapolis.
If your ever at Tampa hard rock I run a restaurant called Frankie’s chophouse I buy nothing but the best cut wagyu and prime cuts of meat crab cakes are jumbo lump
@JasonWasTHERE The fisherman caught the fish fresh every morning for the menu that day. The restaurant is beautiful with the best view of the ocean. I will never forget it.
I agree with you that if you are going to be spending that kind of money at a restaurant the food and service needs to be near perfect! Oh and Derrick looks more like Aaron Rogers! 😂😂😂
I'll take your word for this place Jason. Your review is justified. For the price of the meal & drinks (wine) ... too many things were not 100% fresh or great quality. My baked French onion soup is probably better than theirs & my steaks. Come to 'chez moi' - jk, 😇. Good honest reviews from you & your ol' friend. Thank you. 😘🍀🍀🍀🌹
It cost about as much as a Michelin star restaurant. lol. We are reviewing it compared to other steakhouses. We were served food that was freezer burnt, cold food, soggy food, the wrong wine, wine that wasn’t stored properly, a steak that I couldn’t eat it all because of the toughness and a dessert that was not fresh. You really think we were too harsh??? They dropped the ball on a very expensive dinner.
18 is rich for French onion soup I found the bowls I need! I will be cooking the bestest French opinion soup ever now, for 4$ per person..... loved the whole video btw
If you are ever looking to have crab cakes at home I have been ordering from The Crab Place in Maryland for years. They have an 8OZ that is 100% Jumbo Lump. They are massive but really good. Also I would take French Laundry over Per Se.Would love to discuss more but it would turn into a book on here. :) I am really enjoying the Food reviews.
Business Dinners I go to for a Tomahawk and Seafood Tower. But, this guy over here loves a Ribeye with a salad and a sweet potato. And this is where Texas Roadhouse shines. Roadhouse does steaks great when you ask for medium to medium rare. And those rolls...
Im particular about French onion soup, i make it often because it is my husband's favorite. Disappointing that you guys didn't have a great dinner, they should be consistent. My favorite steakhouse is Mastro's. I had a roommate who was a manager, so i went often and ate for basically free. So there's that 😂,that is where my biased comes from.
Not familiar with this restaurant. As I was watching, I kept getting a restaurant chain food vibe. Anyone else agree ? Thanks again for an honest review.
I agree with you Jason 100% . Wrong vintage of wine - NO , shouldn't happen . A ' fresh ' dirty wine glass - a very definite NO NO ( I don't care if it is on the inside or the outside ; it would annoy me , and I wouldn't accept it at all ) . I've glad you enjoyed the flavour of the French onion soup but the overall presentation of the soup did not warrant the cost . I love that you can appreciate your server and tip her well for her individual performance in spite of the disappointments from the kitchen ( calamari , cold baked potato etc. ) . I think your rating of 3.5 was justified .
Great review Jason! I have to say the food did not look that appealing. The French onion soup looked awful in comparison to what I am used to here in Australia. The calamari looked like something out of a freezer. Loved Derricks opinions and his son was amazing to sit there all that time lol. I do love seeing how restaurants are in comparison to here in Australia.
Hells kitchen in Atlantic City was not good. We actually sent our appetizers back twice from being cold and our entrées was medium hot was too hungry to send it back.
Very interesting video. As soon as I heard "Virginia", I have to do a shameless plug for another channel I follow. Folks in the area of Romney West Virginia, need to check out "Wild Roots Cafe". The couple that built the cafe put a lot of thought into their cafe, and the menu options are not typical of a "cafe". I live on the west coast, so I won't be visiting West Virginia anytime soon, so I have to rely on others for feedback. Thanks Jason! Be well.
And also the comment that the bone in steaks are never cooked by the bone very well there again if they know what there doing you take a filet knife and cut along the bone not all the way through though so the steak stays connected to the bone..and if you do that your steaks will be cooked perfectly to the bone ..I've cooked in five star restaurants and I'm usually on the charbroiler and I've only had maybe 2 entree brought back in probably 9 yrs and it was fish and it was because of taste not how it was cooked .
Next trip to Mohegan, fly into Worcester and try the Boynton Restaurant. It's amazing. And If you're feeling froggy, try their hot wing challenge. I DARE you. It's been on several food TV shows, such as Man vs Food.
@@JasonWasTHERE i get it! I just hear you talking smack about Wisconsin food, and sure I would say my hometown of Chicago has thousand times better International cuisine, especially Asian, Wisconsin kills us in the stick to your ribs American stuff.
@@JasonWasTHERE I’ve been to the Capital Grille in Rosemont and Schaumburg as well. It’s my favorite steak restaurant. Going to Vegas in a few weeks, we always try different steak houses there too, it’s about the experience, the food, the service, the ambiance, the whole package.
dirty glass not good for wine for sure for the money points drop she was nice but but place had problems thanks jason lets bust the slot machine run it out off paper
Ohhhh Just a few minutes in and I’m nervous… Did Ya Bouy just say he’s a crab cake connoisseur after living in DC for 10 years. I smell disappointment in the air. Idk, I’m a Baltimore Girl, we know what we know!
He’s killing me with that claw meat and backfin crab cake that was as dark as an old log 🪵. There’s no way! Also, you threw him totally under the bus with the overpriced onion soup. 💔🚌
OMG!!! When u said no crumb service I was like, yaisssss! When you clear at a 5 ⭐️ you clear! White cloths show everything and I would never give them a 4 ⭐️ rating. That much money for 3 ppl to eat is pointless! The best part is that the food was okay and that you all brought your own entertainment. Too Pricey for the EXPERIENCE 😏
@@JasonWasTHERE honestly I love adult conversation but sometimes when your having these conversations adult conversations and there’s a youth 13 14 15 perhaps at your table the conversations can get a little sketchy and what I mean by that is sometimes they like to be involved in the conversation even though their tiny little minds aren’t prepared to spare with the adults what happens is they get slaughtered in a debate NOW HERES A JOKE DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE GIRL THAT WENT ON THE FISHING TRIP WITH FIVE GUYS ? ………….. SHE CAME BACK WITH A BIG RED SNAPPER
