Hey folks! In today’s video we’ve got another seeded Balatro run. In this run, I wanted to see how far I could get picking up as many copies of Bloodstone as possible. While Bloodstone was recently nerfed, it still remains a strong option for an endless run. Enjoy the video!
Balatro is a poker roguelike deck building game centered around creating powerful synergies and winning with big hands. In it, you can combine valid poker hands with unique Jokers in order to create varied synergies and builds. Earn enough chips to beat blinds, including challenging boss blinds, to make it to the next ante and progress your run!

I like the bloodstone change a lot. I think the fact that you can make it consistent and reliable with oops all 6s now means that it’s a better option for just trying to make it as far as possible in endless, although it isn’t quite as good for a high score run now. It already wasn’t the strongest option for that though so I think helping you with peace of mind on a farthest ante run is definitely worth it

Also, is it even a nerf? Haven’t really thought about it that hard but my gut says a 33% decrease in power in exchange for being 50% more likely is a good trade off

It’s only just barely a nerf. The original was a 1 in 3 chance of doubling, for an expected factor of ³√2 which is about 1.259921. The new version is a 1 in 2 chance of multiplying by 1.5, which means an expected factor of √1.5, or about 1.224745. (You can see this a bit more easily if you imagine the hypothetical expected value of playing SIX heart cards: the old Bloodstone would on average trigger twice, giving ×4 mult, and the new one would trigger thrice, for ×3.375 mult.) Honestly I think the added consistency in the new version makes this more of a neutral change than a nerf, especially with an Oops, but from a purely expected-value point of view it’s technically worse.

Wait it’s even less impactful than I’d imagined. Even in this super Bloodstone-stacked run, in the end we had only around 116.4 times less payout than we would have with the old Bloodstone. (By my count: An effective 7 cards from the Chad, times 2 from the Red Seals, times 2 from the Sock, times 3 from the triple Bloodstones, times 2 from the Oops gives a total of 168 expected Bloodstone triggers. Comparing 4^(168/6) to 3.375^(168/6) gives a difference of a factor of 116.4.) This is a pretty big difference in objective terms; over a hundred times larger. Considering at which point in the run he died, though, I don’t think a factor of a hundred could have taken him any more than like one ante further.

My man ditches the oops all sixes that's worth 3 bloodstones on average (multiplicative with sock and buskin and red seal, not addititive) for the content. Legendary

I just had my first super run. I was able to get a blueprint, Brainstorm, 2 barons, a dna and a mime. I was able to get an invis joker and got another mime but verdant leaf had other plans. Made it to ante 17 though

do you guys ever think about the fact that every card value has multiple joker synergies except for 7, which only has odd todd? Cause I kinda think about that a lot. And I'm not counting Idol cause that would require a lot of deck manipulation and why would you ever manipulate for all 7s when all you get from it are enhancements and todd?

4 50% chances to hit the bloodstone is worse than 3 100% chances to hit the bloodstone. Effectively, by dumping the all sixes, you increased your number of triggers by 33% but decreased your number of trigger hits by 50%. It's going to always be worse. You also cost yourself 20% of your lucky card hits, and 5% of your lucky card money. 4th bloodstone is a massive debuff compared to 3 bloodstones and a lucky card. Your upside is higher of course, but, with so many triggers you aren't going to stray far from the mean.

I tried this seed on Switch, which doesn’t have the latest Steam build with the Bloodstone nerf. Sadly, no Bloodstones appeared. Still was a fun run though… and I saw many of the same jokers Roffle did later in the video… just not the main one!

It activates 1 out of 3 now instead of 1 out of 2, which with oops all six's, used to be 100% activating but now it's 66%

@Astryder haven't gotten to that. Struggling to win on gold, green, and black decks. Haven't tried blue/red over the red stakes, havent really touched the wacky decks, only gotten magic, zodiac, and nebula

When you play a 'flush five' with only lucky cards, the game should call it a "lucky five" and not change anything like the 'royal flush' and the 'straight flush'
