How Good Was Clarence Seedorf? 

One of the best midfielders ever. He also stands out as a well educated man.

Had the pleasure of meeting Seedorf in Chicago and Detroit in 2010. Milan played the Chicago Fire, I ran into him at a Macy's. First time in my life I was star struck and mind you I've met people like Arnold, Stallone, Pesci. I was like, how the hell does no one else recognize this man? The man who along with Kaka and other legends took out United in the semi final a few years prior to winning the CL! One that will always stick out is my cousin, could ask any question but asks Seedorf, why are you shopping at Macy's when you live in Milan? lol. He needed new shoes. Nonetheless, we continued to talk about football or soccer here in the US for a few more mins. One of the best experiences I've ever had.

Seedorf was a champion everywhere he played, from the minute he started playing in the senior team to the moment he retired, in any position he was asked to play in. He'd be my first pick any day on any team under any condition.

One of the main reason why Milan won the second UEFA Championship was Seedorf. He was perfect in some critical match with Kaka and Inzaghi.

Clarence Seedorf played during the golden age of football, the proof being that the "Ballon d'Or"changed every year, so many great players were involved. If Seedorf had had an international career like his club career, he would have been better than Zidane. But he remains the most underrated player in the history of football.

Seedorf played with great midfielders ( Rui, Costa, Kaka, Ronaldinho....) and was never spending his time on the bench.

As strong defensively as in attack, Seedorf was completely dominating wherever he played. Shot like a Cristiano Ronaldo, stronger than Haaland and intelligence like de Bruyne, Seedorf is easily in the Top 5 midfielders of all time.

Whenever people try to compare him and Zidane, an objective conclusion would always go to Zidane, which is highly understandable. But this guy, though relatively low profile than those prominent starts, was the only one who was winning everywhere he played. I guess there is something inside of him, other than how good we know he was, which is not discovered.

I am a fan of Ajax, AC MILAN and Real Madrid. So, I knew the ability of Sedorf since 1995. He played beutiful football. He has everything that a great midfielder to have. However, Zidane is FAR AHEAD. Zidane is not a single player. He is a great team. He is the greatest European Player of all the times. Zidane crushed the Brazil team of Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Adriano, Kaka, Cafu, Roberto Carlos, Dida, and Robinho in 2006 WC. Zidane crushed the Brazil of Ronaldo, Bebeto, Dunga, Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos, Cafu, Denilson and Leonardo in the 1998 WC Final. Zidane is full heated, skilled and a strong Team leader nationally and at the club levels of Juventus and Real Madrid. Thus, no midfielder is at this level. Sedorf has no good statistics with his national team both at the WC and European Nations Cup.

In The Netherlands we remember him as one of the greatest legends of the nation despite having a lot of dramatic performances for the Dutch squad all the way until his final years where he finally became the Seedorf for the Dutch squad that he was for his club teams elsewhere in the world. It's just always such a shame it didn't work for him in Orange except for the final 2 tournaments or so. But we gotta be fair to Seedorf, he still got to deal with a lot of racism and he just is the type of person who reacts to that in a certain way. And it only makes him a more beautiful and complete person as a whole. And he should never have had to deal with any of the racism that he got from the Dutch footballing elite.
