I remember sitting by a guy at Comerica Park during Nomo’s time in Detroit. This guy was complaining that Nomo was only throwing 75-80mph. He obviously never saw Nomo throw a splitter before.
Nomo had a great career. Not hall of fame by any means, but 2 no hitters, 2 strikeout titles, each feat in both leagues, and a rookie of the year, including the first no hitter at Coors. Most of all, he opened the door to Japanese players. He definitely qualifies as a legend.
that was a really funny picture of Mookie Wilson as Nolan Ryan... Nolan Ryan never won the Cy Young, but he has to be the greatest pitcher of all-time, for his longevity, strength, and strikeouts. a living legend.
When I was young, Chan Ho came in to a store I worked at. My coworker asked Chan Ho about that game, and Chan laughed "usually people don't bring that up first" but he had a good laugh about it.
