Another interesting fun fact about Ghetsis' Hydreigon: It's entire movelist was tailor made to destroy N's final team. 1. Focus Blast would seriously maim/kill Klinkklang and Zoroark, while preventing any Zoroark opener shenanigans 2. Surf is a OHKO on Archeops 3. Fire Blast is would easily melt Vanilluxe 4. STAB Dragon Pulse would let it deal with N's Legendary easily, helped by the fact that N's Reshiram / Zekrom doesn't carry any Dragon-Type moves and Ghetsis *knows* this The result of the above is that it could easily sweep N's final team without needing any setup in BW1. Also, the rest of Ghetsis' team was similarly designed to hard-counter N's

Ghetsis' Hydreigon *hates* him. He has maximum power frustration with a life orb, and it's theorized that Hydreigon hated Ghetsis so much that he tried to kill him, leaving him without an arm and an eye.

Ghetsis's right arm is almost always concealed. In the games, it is only seen in Pokémon Black and White's opening, where it is shaded darker than his left arm, while in the anime, it is not seen at all. In Pokémon Generations, both of his arms appear to be fully functional, albeit he still primarily uses the left one. In Black 2 and White 2, Ghetsis mentions that he is going to take the player down with his "own hand" in singular, instead of "hands" in plural. In addition to this, his right eye remains hidden by an eyepiece. In the games, he also appears to have trouble moving the right side of his mouth, as shown by his in-game sprites and models. Early concept art for Ghetsis depicts him without his eyepiece and shows that his right eye has a scar around it.

But as we learned with Electivire, having good coverage doesn’t always set you up for success. Even with Fairies running around, Drei’s dual STAB is still great

@@rodrigokuszek Yes. I maintain that Sceptile and its mega would be so much better if it has just two moves : Earth Power and Thunderbolt. I'd argue that Mega Sceptile would even get a OU niche simply because almost nothing could safely swith into it with these two moves and what it already got. It doesn't take much to make it a good Pokémon

It's speed tier means you can afford to run Modest to hit even harder and not lose out much on outspeeding relevant stuff, so it's not too bad.

I find myself being more frustrated with Salamence’s speed despite it being faster than Hydreigon. Probably because Salamence has bad stabs, bulk, and typing, so it can’t really afford to be sort of slow

given that it's name is based on the german word for three it surely should be pronounced Hy-drei-gon (drei being pronounced dr-eye). The birds with their spanish words in them at least are always pronounced that way, but having them at the end of the word makes it easier to pronounce.

All of these speeds rly don’t matter as he isn’t an uber... he doesn’t have the stats and bulk to be one. Yet he’s slower than the infamous base 100 and gets one shot by most of those

True. Tho there wasn’t that many Fairy types in Ubers except Xerneas. He wouldn’t have done too terribly in Ubers with a scarf. But yeah he isn’t as bulky enough as allot of them so I do understand your point. He’s fine these days in OU. 98 still outspeeds allot including Urshifu.

Nan Aab u dont play dd because hydreigon runs a special set and dd boosts attack, you’d rather wallbreak with nasty plot bc its much easier. Anyway, the difference between slow uber dragons and hyd is that hyd doesnt one shot them even if faster, they can as theyre stronger and bulkier, and his speed doesnt rly matter when his special, even if great for OU/UU, isnt much in ubers. Yveltal is the better hydreigon, is faster, runs a scarf set better than him with a better stab combo and impressive bulk

It ended up making me very attached to Hydreigon to have to work so hard to get it (in addition to its raw power and versatility), to the point that it was the first Pokemon I ever bred for perfect IV's (yes, I know, I should have used a Pokemon with far fewer egg cycles), and I also have a 5 IV level 100 Zweilous. I love this thing's whole line, and how it shifts from a strong physical attacker to balanced with an emphasis on special attack when it evolves.

Hydreigon had almost everything going against it in Gen 6 and 7. Not only did fairy types completely destroyed it's type chart, but it didn't even get a mega. Draco Meteor got nerfed. The only buff it got was that now it could hit steel types harder with Dark Pulse. It's incredible that it kept being a threat in UU and being used in VGC for some years.

If Hydreigon had over 100 speed, it would have been used in OU from the start in every generation, rather than appearing once people gave it a go later on. Having 100 speed as opposed to 96 is kinda like being 6 ft tall, as opposed to 5'11.

Nah he needs a defenses boost hydragon feels like more of a glass canon and with his crippling weakness to the best type in the game he need to take some hits better i think that a 5 boost to defenses and 10 to hp would help a bit as 98 is respectable and it would help it in vgc we could also go to the extreme and take 50 points in speed and give it 15 in defenses and 20 in hp to make it a walking slow monster

@@bigtoblerone8446 Well, Ferrothorn is my favourite steel type, present in half of my OU teams; It's natural to know about them a lot because is the Pokemon I use the most (As I would say in spanish, Ferrothorn is my "vieja confiable" in my teams). And they have done the same things since gen 5 with almost the same moves, so it's not that difficult to remind. PD: I don't like to refer a pokemon or animal as "It", so I use "They" instead, as species, or He/She when this could be only male or female.

Hey nice to see that my favorite Pokemon of all time had such a nice run. I loved this Pokemon so much as a kid that I went so far to train a team of 6 of them to lv 100, 4 of which even started as lv 1s. They're useless competitively as I didn't know about IVs and EVs at the time, but that doesn't mean that I haven't been toting them around with me from game to game and battling unsuspecting friends with them (which usually ends with them fainting one by one lol; dang fairies).
