Lot’s of people think his peak was on the Clippers but it was definitely his 2019 season in Detroit. The way he led them to the playoffs, peaked as a shooter and playmaker is more impressive than anything he’s done.

i'm really interested to see how well he'll operate with the Celtics, and i'm glad Blake Griffin is still in the league, he's still not the player he was once was and he's a shell of himself but i'm glad hes still contributing in different ways with his game, it's really a shame on how he could've won an MVP for sure during those years with the Clippers

I would love to see Blake Griffin have a second "resurgence" in Boston, but there's no reason to believe he'll play any better than he did for the Brooklyn Nets. Basically, Griffin is ring-chasing, at this point, and the Celtics had injuries to both Robert Williams and Luke Kornet they will not recover from before the season begins. Blake is basically there to make sure Noah Vonleh has someone to challenge him for that roster spot. 💁🏻‍♂️🏀🏆

Prime Blake Griffin was on full display in 2015 during the first round series against the defending champion San Antonio Spurs. People forget Chris Paul was injured during the regular season that year and Blake managed to take control of the team and kept the Clippers wins rolling in... Griffin placed 3rd in MVP voting that season. It was during the series vs San Antonio where it was so evident they were having issues slowing Blake down. That was - hands down - the best series of that entire playoff year. Chris Paul heroically hit the game winning floater in game 7 to close out the series, but Blake was the most dominant player in that series. Lob City sent Duncan, Parker, Manu, and Kawhi packing for the summer... their dreams of repeating a trip to the finals squelched... at the hands of Blake. And then came the Rockets :/

On the one hand Blake had so much athleticism and coordination and on the other hand his body consistently didn't have the ability to stay healthy down the stretch. Blake was strong yet weak at the same time. Blake would show flashes all season then couldn't finish when it mattered most in the playoffs. Unfortunately, this will be his legacy. This may be Chris Paul's legacy too.

I didn't realize what prime BG was capable of. Crazy to think despite those injuries, he's still getting solid numbers from the bench now. It also explains why the Celtics are keeping him as a backup and not giving him as many minutes or as many games. Gotta keep him healthy for the playoffs. Also, major Bill Walton vibes. Dominant player everyone thought was washed and injured but coming to a contending team as a support player. Would be a fairy tale for sure if Celtics win a ring

I don’t think he was lazy, I just think the clippers never asked him to be more than who he was. In Detroit he had to shoot more jumpers because of his aging body and lack of playmakers around him. Also the nba changed so much from when he started his career. If he came into the league rn he’d be a much more “well rounded” offensive player just because of how more relevant the 3 point shot an midrange is for bigs today.
@viv9306
@viv9306 Год назад
People also misremember how much Blake developed his game on the clippers. He came in mainly as a pick and roll dunker with a nice face up game but was a legitimate mid range demon plus playmaking point forward type by the time he was traded. Playing with cp3 and especially under doc though limited him from his true potential though which I think people saw in Detroit.

TBH in 2019 if he never got injured on the Pistons, and had a normal age drop off, his game he would have been like a 8 time all star instead of 6, cause he developed a good new skillset paired with the last bit of his high level athleticism.
