Probably the most ludicrous thing about the sheer numbers he put up was that it made the unbelievable numbers that CR7 put up seem believeable somehow. 50 league goals in 37 games by Messi almost made you forget that before him and CR7 came along, scoring 38 goals in a single la liga season was the absolute peak of goalscoring prowess in Spain. In a few short years, scoring more than a goal a game became not just possible, but expected. We will never see anything like it again. I can quite safely say that for sure.
