How Good was PRIME Yay (actually)? 

how the narratives have changed... people used to say fenis got carried by Yay to a masters trophy but now they're saying the exact opposite.

I support Yay not because of his crazy stats or his Reykjavik win but because of his humility and very down-to-earth charisma. Dude has legit had some very bad family issues but still chooses to smile and just say "eh, what can we do boys" and then just carry on. Not many people know about his character but rather go on bashing about his poor performance. He is not the GOAT for his performance but for what his heart truly is.

They just went 0-10 against RRQ today and then lost both games. It looked horrific. Don't know if it's a language barrier, lack of confidence, or what.

I really want yay to bounce back man. No matter how many games he loses, he will still be my goat and I'll always support him no matter what team he's on.

I need less y0y and more Yay. Seriously tho, Yay is one of the main reasons I ever became a content creator. Optic was my favorite team ever. I hadn't been so invested in a team since the Chargers and Philip Rivers. I never even was big on Esports, I just enjoyed playing val on my free time. I then felt like I needed to talk about Valorant to someone other than myself, so yeah thanks Yay and Optic boys. Whether Yay returns to form or not I'll always be a fan of him.

It broke my heart to watch BLEED loose to RRQ with a 0-2 loss. its just sad to see yay loose so bad man. I wasn't a big fan of him in his prime but now i miss the chamber meta and yay.

In my opinion, Yay a good player with a certain agent. Because there aren't many agents He uses. Even as a Duelist, he only often uses Jett. When Chamber appeared, he became very dependent on Chamber. But after Chamber got nerfed, he seemed to be dissappeared until now.

Even on Complexity Yay was always inconsistent. Plus he's always needed a good igl to work with.

He was the real deal but he needs the right team. This is how it was in cs and before Optic. He was able to pop off as duelist on Envy and was solid on Andbox. Disguised as a bad situation bc it was so last second and basically EVERYONE on bleed speaks a different language so its just doomed to fail. Can't wait to see him come back to NA and go to M80/some other tier 2 team that he can actually prac with.

I honestly can't comprehend why Bleed simply doesnt let him play Chamber, like Zeta Laz uses chamber, T1 Xcurrate uses chamber, why not let yay also use chamber? Its stupid.

he was the best chamber player in a chamber meta. its still impressive because you have to actually have insane aim to play chamber to the level he played it to but aside from that, hes pretty meh. when you compare him to players like aspas or tenz who even role-swapped, you can see the big difference in the PLAYERS

Jett and chamber were both just really strong with operators. Now that they have both been nerfed so much he can’t really play a lot of operator anymore so he plays worse.

I think BLD have some communication issues, they weren't really acting as a team most of the time. They're like playing rank. There is also the issue of haters and bashers of yay which probably affects the team as well. I think yay needs to take a break for himself and for BLD. Then make a low-key come back?

Chember was the dominant part of his prime for sure. You can't denied that fact. He is truly great player no doubt but after c9 drama it was final nail in the coffin for his legacy. I hope he would have been supported by the org like sen did with tenz.

Really great video essay, well researched and engaging. I was put off by the constant messed-up line reads, though. A little more practice and a few more takes on each line would have made this much better - those jarring line-reads ruined the experience multiple times for me.

Aside from the kickoff tournament, this first season split has been looking fairly good for Yay individually. He looks and plays much more composed and confident just like he did in 2022, and on raze of all agents. While his talent and skill are definitely not gone, the team he’s on definitely is having its struggles with role issues, confidence, leadership, etc. And you can see it in the games they’ve played: aside from the micro mistakes, Bleed often get outplayed in the mid round and suffer dramatically as a result. Aside from sScary being new to IGLing and therefore being inexperienced, I think a lot of issues stem from both language barriers and also the many different cultures coming onto one team.

They nerfed the character he was best at into the ground over and over and over and over. The entire playstyle of the character literally does not exist anymore.

Yay was great on just aiming on Chamber but his actually mechanics on more active agents like Jett were no where close to other Jett players. Great at aiming but that's about it imo

Yay is a system player. If system is shit, which it has been for him since he left fns, he'll be shit. Sucks but he isn't an aspas type of player. Another such system player is zekken. On xset he was mostly overshadowed by Cryo and didn't do much last year on sen. But now with a good system he's farming.

Went from Yay to y0y now to Yey hopefully eventually back to Yay

I think Duelist is not suitable for yay and his play style he have such a good crosshair placement and movement but cant be used if you are just entrying and aiming

The map pool and agent nerfs + buffs just don't suit yays playsryle, with the introduction of haven, pearl and fracture it should be easier to play agents like jett and chmsvrt a whole lot more which yay would be more comfortable on

As much as I want yay to return to his prime, it just seems more and more unlikely day by day. Bleed is just terrible (except Zest) and it also doesn't help that Raze completely goes against yay's playstyle. It's so obnoxiously obvious that yay has an extremely limited selection of agents he's comfortable on.

Looking at the ACS and KDs I know YaY can hold his own, but... there's a lot of times where the 2nd best player was right there with him. YaY can carry his weight, but relies on his team to win. C9 wasn't good with him, Bleed sucks with/out him, DSG was struggling so much regardless(I think it was coaching issues).
