Sharon. True. It's way better than trying to evolved them into there mid forms before the first gym. That's one of the reasons why I refused to use Torchic to evolved in an slog way.
I think probopass would have been better with the electric typing instead of the steel typing. After all it's pretty similar to alolan golem and learns thunderbolt as well as evolving from a thunderstone starting in gen 8.
No I think Bug type is in need in offensive buffs. Then Rock type being good against them gets better too. In my opinion Bug should be very effective against Faerie. This would solve a lot of balance issues...
Agreed. It was good when normal was the premiere offensive type, but those days are long since gone. Nowadays Rock is just an awful defensive typing, and it definitely deserves some buffs. Perhaps it could at least resist itself so that rock types don’t get worn down as hard by stealth rock.
@@zachpro5475 It was too weak to Reef Blowers, completely walled by Secret Box, and only had the small niche of Clarinet boosted Boomburst against Jellyfish.
The Pokemon Trainer TAKES CONTROL OF SQUIDWARD'S HOUSE and begins ATTACKING THE CITY. Leaving the mayor to give Squidward community service for the damage he caused.
@@_RedRightHand_ This is a JoJo reference. SPOILERS TO PART 4 (in a nutshell) Serial murderer and rapist, Anjuro "Angelo" Katagiri, had to face the grandson of his latest victim - Josuke Higashikata - and his nephew (who's in fact 10-11 years older than him), Jotaro Kujo. Angelo was ultimately defeated, and due to Josuke's Stand's (Crazy/Shining Diamond) ability - stuck in a stone in the middle of Morioh town. But... He made the biggest mistake possible - insulted Josuke's hair. He, in revenge, destroyed both the stone and Angelo, only to restore it and "upgrade" with his Stand. Since then, "Angelo Stone" is one of the most famous landmarks in Morioh. Also, Josuke - whether he passes by - greets the stone with: "Yo, Angelo". Also encourages others to do the same
If only Gamefreak gave Probopass a better defensive typing, reliable recovery, and a better ability. Since those stats are actually pretty decent. Oh wait, they did. It's called Toxapex, and it's an OU staple.
@@gio9255 I think nosepass was more dangerous because it was decently bulky and had block (which is pretty scary), but all three starters can beat it, even Torchic, because by then you might already have a Combusken.
@@gio9255 Yeah fair point. Nosepass has that similar thing with Onix where it has very high defense and of course being a rock type, you cant rely on Normal, Fire or even Bug.
Pokemon is notorious for designing like that, why'd you think so many are pure garbage? While the ones that aren't get buffs and boosts they don't really need, or do need but not as much.
The same people that made Luvdisc and figured it shouldn't get an evolution ever. Also in the same gen are Castform, Spinda, pre-mega mawile (even though I used it anyway), and pre mega/pre prankster Sableye. Although they were doing a little better in Gen 3. I feel like gen 2 had a lot of bad mons in it.
Here's how I described it. "Look at that typing. Fire and Rock. Even in Gen 2 you would be more interested in how good the type combo fared offensively. Instead, Game Freak made a slow, defensive Pokémon out of that typing, and that would be like, putting a few pieces of armor on someone who just joined the army and sending him out on the frontline on his first day."
Magcargo one of the Pokémon that desperately needed an evolution in gen 4 but got skipped. Its a shame since had it gotten the treatment it deserved it would have helped make Sinnoh have more options than Ponyta....
@@CigaretteCrayon Love substitute on fast offensive mons that has a weakness to status + are frail. Substitute perfectly assists their problems and can make them scary. I can't say i understand using substitute on a slow mon, like a wall or pivot.
Probopass: Man, why am I so bad. This sucks. Aggron: Don’t worry my compass friend. It can be worse. Probopass: Could be worse? I’m destroyed by ground and fighting types like you and I don’t even get good offensive attacks. How can I possibly be worse? Aggron: You could be Bastiodon. Probopass: Bastio-what?! Bastiodon: Me you jerk!!! *Aggron cheers Probopass up and they they both mock Bastiodon as the worst of the worst steel rock types*
Dang this was impressively detailed for a Pokemon that didn't have the most successful career and I appreciate the mention of FEAR Probopass, which is just so much fun to use. Probopass feels a lot like Diancie to me, where they both have really good defenses, but lack a typing to back it up mainly just because Rock is bad. Yeah, Diancie can actually defend itself with Fairy Stab, but the similarity is still pretty strong. Makes me think that a Mega Evolution in the style of Diancie's would have been perfect for it. Maybe even change its typing to give it stab on its plethora of Electric coverage
@@matchanavi I would love if Probopass got a special move similar to Aegislash related to his anime movie With his mini-noses something similar to Stealth Rock and Roar / Whirlwind combined that dealt damage. Maybe another move that granted it levitate while also letting it heal itself
@@CoolxBreese Because you mentioned the Magnemite line and i just said that even without Levitate the Magnemite line is better, or that's what i was trying to say anyway seems the message didn't exactly reach you lul
A 12 minute video? From 2021 FalseSwipeGaming? Man I don’t even need to see the video to know that poor Nosepass and Probopass didn’t do all that well. What a shame, I love the design.
@@gamermanzeake not probopass, Charizard is overrated. Last week’s video was about Charizard, this week’s is about probopass. That’s what my comment is about lol
@@theboi5584 Oh man do I feel dumb haha xD you were talking about from last video to this video. I thought you were just talking about the mon in this video. Hahaha xD
I do wish this was a rock/electric type. It honestly makes way more sense given the moves it learns and it would've been a nice niche typing for a while before the alolan geodude line came along.
Buff: New ability: Opposite Polarity Steel and Electric type attacks are redirected to the opposite target. (reflects attacks, steals buffs.) Eat that volt-switch.
>watching one of those hardcore nuzlocke vids where the big struggle was roxanne >after that part ends, this video uploads For the longest time I never knew how to get one in RSE. Even when I did know, I couldn't be bothered to get and try to use one until Platinum. At least their access to eletric type moves do make them interesting.
I remember in the Pocket Monsters Special manga when Roxanne's Nosepass could actually benefit from having Magnet Pull and screw up Steel types such as May's Aron. Wish it was like that in the games as well
Nosepass has always been "Onix, but worse". I mean, ace of the first gym leader, who also uses Geodude, which gets a part-Steel evolution the gen after its debut.
I used to really dislike Probopass, but my whole view of him turned around when he almost solo'd Ultra Necrozma in my Ultra Moon Nuzlocke, only dying to a critical hit. Rest in peace, Lead. You were the best tank a trainer could ever ask for
Perhaps Substitute with Grassy Terrain support can better use its defensive side, but Corvinight and other Steel types it could trap can't be walled because of moves like Body Press.
That arguably would have been worse unless it inverted its stats upon Evolution and became a speedy glass cannon, as Rock/Electric is more of an offensive type than a defensive one.
@@autobotstarscream765 Rock/Electric would have been fine if paired with Levitate. Rock/Steel fails to be defensive due to the crippling weaknesses in Ground and Fighting, which are everywhere.
In almost every video involving the NU tier in gen 5, i keep hearing about Choice Band Sawk. My proposal is "How GOOD was Sawk ACTUALLY?" Or mienshao, idk, i adore both of these pokemon. Some of the best non-legendary fighting types to come out of Gen 5
that moment when someone actually calls them moai instead of just easter island heads. Say what you will about Kellen butchering names but he does care about getting things right
One thing I've learned from these videos is what is defined as power creep... not just Pokémon or new forms but even items gen 7 legit brought power creep in the from of Pokémon and z moves which really stank tbh
Always loved using lvl 2 probopass in OU and just spamming pain split. Pain split would always bring you back to full and sturdy would prevent you from dying. Unreliable as hell, but it was so fun to use
@@jaretco6423 Actually since BDSP Probopass is must better with it. As it now has a way to deal good dmg against steel types which it lacked before. Also it allows Probopass to deal good dmg against other mons who don't resist it. It may not patch Probopass' gapping defensive weaknesses, but it allows Probopass to actually have a form of offensive threat that it lacked earlier.
@@jaretco6423 Body press is still a great move for Probopass, as stated before it patches the offensive issues it has been lacking. Also Probopass may even do better in Gen 9 as in BDSP there isn't as many steel types. So it can possibly fill some good niches in the future. Also due to the trend of Gamefreak giving some buffs when entering a new generation, there is a good chance they give Probopass some better defensive or support moves, which will make it's pivoting/support role much better.
Probopass probably would’ve been better in being a pure steel type or maybe a different dual typing. But probopass was able to gain a bushy, iron sand mustache which Regirock could only dream of potentially having.
I like it, thank you for looking at this! It still makes a lotta sense the compass rocks aren’t so great. Also, can you try Sigilyph or Manectric? I’m surprised you haven’t done the thunder pup.
I do appreciate the accuracy of Probopass's design, but there is no situation in which I'm seriously going to consider it for competitive. Maybe for in-game.
Why do random Steel types learn Volt Switch ACTUALLY? Strange thing I've never understood, is it some vague reference to steel "conducting" electricity? Nosepass and Mew are the only two non steel or electrics to get it up to Gen 5, and later the pre evolution to Galvantula.
Well the 'pass line gets it because half of their design is based around magnetism. I always thought steel should be weak to electric in the same logic that water is, makes more sense than its weakness to fighting anyway.
Anyone else wonder what it would be like in OU if there was a tier between there and Ubers for those who are too good for OU, but not viable in Ubers (and vice versa)?
It wouldve been a great Scarmury trapper immune to toxic and cripple man Pokémon with toxic and Twave. But most Offensive threats carry Earthquake so its really tough to switch in. Probo wouldve benn a maybe nieche mon with some good qualitys but it wouldve been mostly outclassed by magneton. It UU it wouldve been the absolute best check to banded Kangaskan if it switched to doubleedge. So Kanga must be played more carefull cz probopasses twave wouldve cripple sooo many Pokémon. Actually Probopass wouldve been tze best devensive pokemon in uu.
