In 1972, the church where I grew up (St. Timothy Lutheran in Fremont, Nebraska) started the Special Classes, a Sunday School program for people with developmental disabilities; this was only 3 years after the church was founded. After 45 minutes of classroom study, all the students gather to pray & sing; my mom has played the piano for them since before I was born (I'm 45). This hymn was one of 2 where all the Special Classes would sing the first verse & the chorus each time, & then a single student would do a solo on other verses; Kenny would do verse 2, & Tom would do verse 3. The other hymn is “I Love to Tell the Story”, where Jill did verse 2 (Kenny, Tom, & Jill are all with Jesus now).
There's no way anyone can listen to your music and not be moved or inspired! This songs always bring tears to my eyes when I think about God's Greatness! I am crying as I write my comment! 😥Thank you Jon for Blessing us with your God Given Talent!👍❤❤❤
Masterful, Jon. Breathtaking. Such lovely open chords with such rich color. It trembles with one lost in the wonder of His indescribable love. I needed this today.
Hi Jon, still loving all your music. This is song is one of my all time favourites in general, not just your rendition. I loved what you did with it. I searched to see if you covered my second favourite but couldn’t see it. Have you covered ‘o lord hear my prayer’ taize? and if not would you consider performing it. I’d love to see what you’d do with it. All the very best.
Thank you!! You can also listen to my song "Great" on my album "My Story My Song" which is streaming everywhere and available for purchase on iTunes/Amazon/etc.
O Lord my God! When I in awesome wonder Consider all the works Thy hand hath made. I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power throughout the universe displayed. Refrain: Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee: How great Thou art, how great Thou art! Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee: How great Thou art, how great Thou art! When through the woods and forest glades I wander And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees; When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze: And when I think that God, His Son not sparing, Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in; That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin: When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart! Then I shall bow in humble adoration, And there proclaim, my God, how great Thou art!
You can get some of my music on Musicnotes.com. They transcribe my music for me, because I could never do that haha. I'm just making all of this up real time in the studio.
